Received 3 calls from these guys from 559-328-2353 at my office claiming to be some kind of Official US Branch of Govt. Anyways I called them to see what this was all about, and they couldn't get their names straight, So I asked for their address and the guy just hangs up. Its a SCAM of some kind for sure so don't fall for it.

    "This message is intended for (my name) (My name), this is James Howard with the Department of legal affairs. I was trying to reach you in regards to a very important issue. This is a verbal notification for you in regards to the enforcement actions that have been started on your name. My number is 2022418240 I repeat that is 2022418240. If for any reason you are busy to call back I would suggest you to have your attorney do do it for you been(?) calling us might-end-that-into(?) all the-goodness(?) for you. I hope you would take this Friday give me a call right back. This is James Howard from Department of legal affairs. Looking forward to speak to you until then have a blessed day. Goodbye."

      I got the same BS call from 202-241-8240. They had me for a minute but my father who is a tax attorney and filed my return for the year in question told me to hang up. The weird thing was that I received a call from 1911 while I was on the phone. I started tripping out and hung up the phone and turned it off... Freaking Scammers......

        You can do that with VoIP, and the scammers love to take advantage of it.

        Probably not worth closing up that loophole.
        It's better that caller id be known as unreliable, which is aided by these scams using it so ridiculously.

      My wife just got the identical message this morning -  word for word, but a different ph #.
      The guy had a slight accent and no idea how to pronounce Michele,

    Received the exact same message as LB above just 30 minutes ago with identical call back number.

    Got a call from James Howard posing as U.S. treasury saying that we owe taxes. Scam scam scam

    Have received 5 calls over the past 10 days while I have been out of town.  3 calls were recorded messages from Steve Martin @ 1-916-604-7194 from northern CA.  1 call from Steve Martin again but at a different number 1-503-661-8089 also listed in northern CA.  And the last one was from James Franklin @ 1-567-342-9086 listed in Ohio threatening legal enforcement action.  It was this message that finally identified the Department of Legal Affairs.  The other ones included threats about legal action, US Treasury enforcement, magistrates and grand juries, and federal offenses but did not identify who was the entity that was calling but that wanted to assure me that they wanted me to "help them help me".  All messages were in heavy foreign accents which were hard to understand.  Many thanks to everyone on this forum who identified this as a scam.  I suspected as much but the calls kept coming day and night so I was becoming concerned.

    I have gotten this scam call from multiple numbers - Steve Martin or Marden and tonight Kevin Miller from the department of legal affairs with an imposement action requesting a call back at 909 237 9359.  tonight they had my name in the message with the same thick accent.  beware.

    I got the same message as LB, word for word (thanks for the copy of the script).  You might as well add the number 949-800-7609.  Add the name Rory or Roy Jackson

    I got it from 202-241-8240,10:52am, 11/03/14.  lyon or brian maxwell dept. of legal affairs.  Strong accent.  Said advice was to have an attorney call back.

    Me too just now 11/03/14 at 12:00 "Allen Carter" thick Indian accent says to return call with my lawyer...call from Glendale,CA 818-745-3051 From Department of Legal Affairs.....I don't buy it.

    Received a call from some Indian stating he was with the Department of Legal affairs. 713-575-9472.  I asked what this was regarding and he told me that legal action has been taken against my husband and that two law enforcement officers would be coming to my door in 40 minutes.  I told him that I would have coffee and donuts waiting for them.  I then went on to say that they made our evening news that their calls were a scam and asked if they thought all Americans were stupid.
