We went to a presentation for what we thought was a membership in a vacation club. If we joined this club we would be able to access condo, cruises, and resorts that we could rent for $299 for a 7 night/8days visit. Sales pressure was very high and we were never left alone to discuss joining this club. When we asked for privacy to discuss, the guy left and another took his place. They told us over & over this was a vacation club membership and they were not connected to a Timeshare group. MVG would even finance our loan at 0% interest and if we were not happy then they would refund our money. Great!! We were taken to an office and documents were presented to us to sign. Just a lot of legal steps(right). We would have to sign a license agreement to be able to use the software to search their listings. The software upgrades were to be $199 per year. So we paid $2,500 down and financed $3500 at 0% interest. No mention that we had three days to cancel(knew we were leaving the next morning).

Sounds pretty good doesn't it. Well here is the truth of the matter.
There is no club membership. You are buying a software license to search listing where the $299 places are out of the way places that no one wants to visit. MVG does not finance the load they outsource to Universal Account Servicing, LLC (rudest people I have ever had to chance to speak to). Software upgrades are $299 for the first year with a 10% increase every year. When I asked to cancel the club membership(written, certified letter)they did not pick the letter up. Next I sent it in a letter and Ian called and when asked about refund statement was "you do not have that in writing".

We are still trying to get out of this but I do not know if that is possible. Bad thing is that the lone person in the Welcome Center at Myrtle Beach sent us over to this group. Does anyone have any suggestions about canceling this?  Yes, we know we are stupid people to have fallen for this scam.

I had a different experience with Monster Resort Group.  My wife and I bought a package but the next day, we had second thoughts about how much we would actually use it since we typically have large family vacations (50+ people) at a NC beach and rent about 6 houses for a week.  I called Mark and told him that we had changed our mind and sent Monster a rescission letter.  They gave me a full refund 30 days later as Mark had promised.

All i can say is thank GOD we didn't buy into this mess.
We attended a presentation- 2hrs- with the promise of a free weekend at Myrtle Beach even if we didn't purchase. We paid $140 UPFRONT, thinking 2 weekends at MB for $140- not too bad.right??
The "free weekend" voucher was the first thing handed to us when we arrived at MRG headquarters. so far so good right??
We REFUSED to be separated from our very young children (6, 4, 18mos)
to listen to the sales pitch- even though the guy kept insisting.

    EXTREMEMLY HIGH PRESSURE sales tactics.
Today, today today only, he kept repeating. If you walk out you can't call back later.
When we FINALLY got down to the but it or leave portion we politely indicated we couldn't afford it (thinking this was a good escape plan).
    WRONG!
What finally ended up was a disgusted sounding " well what can you afford then?" Don't you get it- we don't WANT to buy?? I was so pissed off it was all I could do to control myself.
Thank GOD it ended without incident.

As for the "free weekend" pass??
Yours for the taking- just pay the sales tax,
AND ATTEND ANOTHER PRESENTATION??? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????

Sure the rude guy says, all you have to do is read the fine print on the brochure.
    These guys are slick.
    RUN
    RUN
    RUN AWAY.

    Are you serious?
So let me get this straight you went online to complain about a presentation that asked you to buy something today....which they all do and you decided not to. And then complain about receiving a free weekend as long as you attend another presentation...wow these guys sound awful...oh wait nevermind you're just an idiot. Thanks for the awesome blog!

I have called you multiple times to get a confirmation for my family vacation beginning on August 20, 2010.  This was the time I spoke with you to making reservations.  After calling your number atleast 15 times leaving messages to no avail. Neither a representative from Monster Vacations called back nor did you. we do not have reservations for the period of October 13 thru October 17 2010.  Yep you are right, we were supposed to leave tomorrow for a wonderful 4 night stay in beautiful Gatlingburg TN.

I called both the lodge at Buckberry Inn(creek) and Monster Vacations  reservations number and YOU never made the reservations as promised. Could that be why we ever received a confirmation from you? Well you have dropped the ball.

I am very upset and disappointed in you, Andrew, as owner and vice president of what should be a very lucrative company. This is the worst customer service I have ever seen. And I work in customer service....If this is how your company routinely treats its customers it is amazing that any of you can sleep at night. I feel sorry for each of you.

Sally was very kind and compassionate even though we still do not have reservations for Gatlingburg TN.

Anyone besides me find it odd that positive comments about MRG are posted on a COMPLAINT website?? Looks planted to me.
Who would in their right mind go on a complaint website to post positive comments???

OMG you are kidding right?  When people are checking out Monster this comes up in a search.  So yeah stupid I would add something positive if I bought or even just visited and it was a positive experience.

I hear the BBB is also a scam.  You pay them money and they give you a good rating.  Think they paid for their rating???? Totally.  This place is the biggest scam ever.  I know, I was foolish enough to buy into this and NEVER have gotten a place, NEVER.  And for them getting back to you, NOT.  Oh don't forget this, they lie.  Adults, they will lie right to your face.  Be careful.  Just say no.  No matter what I tried to book with them, going direct was cheaper.  As for the condo they put us in for 3 days in Myrtle beach.  OMG, nightmare.  Live and learn.  I do also wonder how these people sleep at night.  We tried to get back our money, they would not call us back. No matter what they say on here, they lie.  LIE
