We went to a presentation for what we thought was a membership in a vacation club. If we joined this club we would be able to access condo, cruises, and resorts that we could rent for $299 for a 7 night/8days visit. Sales pressure was very high and we were never left alone to discuss joining this club. When we asked for privacy to discuss, the guy left and another took his place. They told us over & over this was a vacation club membership and they were not connected to a Timeshare group. MVG would even finance our loan at 0% interest and if we were not happy then they would refund our money. Great!! We were taken to an office and documents were presented to us to sign. Just a lot of legal steps(right). We would have to sign a license agreement to be able to use the software to search their listings. The software upgrades were to be $199 per year. So we paid $2,500 down and financed $3500 at 0% interest. No mention that we had three days to cancel(knew we were leaving the next morning).

Sounds pretty good doesn't it. Well here is the truth of the matter.
There is no club membership. You are buying a software license to search listing where the $299 places are out of the way places that no one wants to visit. MVG does not finance the load they outsource to Universal Account Servicing, LLC (rudest people I have ever had to chance to speak to). Software upgrades are $299 for the first year with a 10% increase every year. When I asked to cancel the club membership(written, certified letter)they did not pick the letter up. Next I sent it in a letter and Ian called and when asked about refund statement was "you do not have that in writing".

We are still trying to get out of this but I do not know if that is possible. Bad thing is that the lone person in the Welcome Center at Myrtle Beach sent us over to this group. Does anyone have any suggestions about canceling this?  Yes, we know we are stupid people to have fallen for this scam.

    K Lopez,

Have you gotten any resolution?  We too have been scammed.  We have made multiple phone calls almost daily, and can not get anyone to call us back including Sally.

My husband and I have health issues.  I am 55 and currently going through chemo.  We desperatley need our money for medical bills.  I don't know how we let them talk us into this but they did.  We immediately wrote a letter that evening to cancel, so we did comply with the 3 day right of rescission.  We received a letter from them the following week and it stated that we would receive our money within 30 days.  It is now past 60 and no one will return a phone call, and I have left messages with everyone in the company.

Please respond and let me know if you have gotten any resoultion.

If anyone else reads this and has gotten or not gotten resolution, please respond as well.  We need to stop them from hurting other innocent people.

We visited the welcome center and that was the beginning of the scam. Please stay as far away from Monster Vacations as you can. They are not who they say they are. We were fortunate to get our money back because we used a credit card. You do have 3 days to cancel but will lose the $250 fee. You will not get the resorts and hotels you think you will. It's a scam.

Have you tried going through your credit card company or bank? Tell the bank/credit card company in detail, exactly what happened and they will assist you with this matter. We were tolde if you could prove you were lied too, you could go to court and get your money back. I am in the process of disputing my transaction. Good Luck!

There was no document stating a 3 day cancellation. I recently learned that the state of South Carolina has a 3 day rescission law. I'm not from SC, so I was unaware of that law. If Monster Vacation Group are down talking other resorts, giving you the false impression that they are truthful, then they should have informed not just me, but everyone that they do business with, about the 3 day rescission law. If they would do they and stand by the word there wouldn't be as many complaints.

You may have been told but we weren't. We went through our paperwork throughly and did not find a statement telling us about the 3 day rescission law.

We too were taken in by their great presentation of wonderful opportunities to vacation inexpensively.  Since it takes more than 3 days to get the password, we were outside of their cancellation time, (which they never even explained) before I realized the website was grossly exaggerated by them.
We too have tried to get them to just keep the downpayment money, and let us out of this contract.  I am sooo frustrated and feel taken advantage of.

My paperwork has it on it.  Fine print, but it is there.  You are always supposed to read everything including the fine print before you sign anything. That is what cracks me up.  You see all these people complaining about a cancellation, but you didn't bother reading the fine print.  You brought it on yourself.  I am not happy with the Customer service or availability issues I am having, but I made sure I knew what I was getting myself into.

I am so disappointed  that everything listed on the confirmation letter was not mentioned verbally to me at the time of agreement. When I told the group that I could come but not my husband, I was told I could bring anyone, so that is what I have done, but at the last minute, I received an e-mail, stating that a requirment is for two persons attending must have the same address. I am so disappointed.  Now I am scheduled for a trip to take place on Sunday, this weekend but according to the requirment for the presentation, my husband cannot make it.   I recommend all confirmations and agreements be done via e-mail for tracking/verification purposes.

Sorry to hear that you have been a victim of Monster VG. I wasn't informed about a rescission letter nor did I sign a rescission letter. The sales person later on after making numerous attempts to cancel was the contract stated that at the time of my purchase there was a rescission statement in place. It's sad when people out right mislead or lie to people just to get a sale.

Did the saleperson tell you about the 3 day cancellation? Is it a South Carolina law that you must be told about the 3 day cancellation law?

Mr. Andrew McGills remarks from a previous response and comments that I posted.

    Leighha,

Unfortunately I am not sure how I can help you because your complaint is full of incorrect information.

    1) We do not and never have sold timeshare to anyone. (bad information)
    2) We do have new representatives from time to time and if they are unsure of anything, rather than giving bad information, they are trained to ask a representative of greater experience. This is to help protect you as well as our company. (if this is a negative business practice then we are guilty as charged)

Comment:  Guilty as charged! The only one that is being protected in your business transactions is your company. Bad information has, was, and still is being given out to potential clients. Some people are more cautious than others by not being misguided into a web of deceit and untruthful business transactions. BEWARE of false tongues. Your contract says one thing and your representatives tell your clients something totally different, if you tell them at all. If you tell your client something, then “Man-Up” and stand behind what flowed from your lips. Trust and honesty starts with the company Monster Vacation Group and should end with the company, for you are the ones that people have put their trust. Somewhere along the way people have forgotten that they should trust who, In God We Trust”?  A person enters into your establishment under the impression that TRUTH & HONESTY is what your company offers, but underneath the smiles, slick talking, boasting, and insincerity, there’s nothing.  You care NOTHING about your clients because if you did the feedback would be more positive - resolving the issues at hand.

    3) My cellular number is, and always has been working. Before you have the audacity to call our business a scam/unethical/disgusting I would suggest you re-check your information. 843.457.6161 (My cell phone number, or if you'd like here is my email amcgill@monsterresortsgroup.com, or if you would like to call toll free 866.737.6211 or 866.737.5615)

Comment: Though your number remains the same, doesn’t necessarily mean you will return your clients call as you proclaim you would.I’ve read various complaints and I have called a couple of times just to see if you were a man of your word. Guess what, I never got a call back.

I sleep very well at night knowing our product is excellent for our owners. I do find it very dishearting however to know that you would go to such lengths to complain about a program that you decided not to get involved with. I do apologize this program was not for you, but would appreciate the courtesy of being contacted directly if you with to communicate further.

COMMENT:I’m very pleased to hear that you sleep well at night and I hope that you continue to sleep well. Just remember those that are having sleepless nights because of the dealings with your company. No that individual didn’t buy, but instead they put their trust were it needed to put, “In God We Trust”, and not your company. “
Be all you can be, and not what you are!”

    Sincerely,

    Andrew McGill

You were very lucky. There are so many people here that are being handled unfairly. If a person doesn't want to be affiliated with those people, why not do what's right and give them their money back.

Strange! When I tried to cancel, I was told there was no rescission letter. This was in December 2010. Now here you are in January 2011 stating you had a rescission letter. I don't know whats going on here. In reading all the complaints, it seems certain people are given this rescission letter and not everyone. Question for the company: Is this professional for you to have certain people sign rescission statement and not to inform others of this rescission letter? Is this your way of entrappment or what? If they are going to do business with people from all walks of life, please be consistent. Consistency definitely is liking with this company.
