We purchased a Spring Air Mattress June 13, 2005 from Cajun Brothers in Conway, AR. One of the main reasons we purchased this mattress was the warranty. We noticed that the mattress was sagging (on both sides) where we sleep. Cajun Brothers came to our house, (February 2007), took pictures, measured the sag and sent them to Spring Air.

Spring Air replied that our mattress was not that bad. We needed to rotate the mattress. Not that bad? Is a Spring Air mattress supposes to be comfortable and not sag for 2 years only? That is almost $500.00 a year for a bed. I really do not think this is acceptable. We are very unhappy with this mattress. We are supposed to have a 100% warranty not to be prorated in any way.We have a king size Vienna pillow top.

I sleep on the right side in the summer and my husband on the left. In the winter, we switch. In my opinion, we are rotating the mattress. We are unhappy about the way we have been treated. If a mattress is sagging, IT IS SAGGING. It does not make any difference how much. If something is broken, it is broken. We do not want another Spring Air mattress; another one would probably do the same thing as this one has. We are truthfully tired of the hassle. We have lived with this for a year now its time something was done. We expect a refund from Spring Air.

Spring Air mattress does not warranty their products!!!  I purchased in 2008 a so called Four Seasons mattress manufactured by Spring Air and in one year "09" now it started to sag in the middle. It took me a a year to do somethig about it and then I was told to take to Carrollton Texas factory and have it repaired.  A 3.5 hr drive one way to this place.  1 week later it did the same thing. Months later I took it again, and what you know, I have the same problem. Big sunken hole in the middle.  I am pissed off and paid a good 1800.oo for my hole!!!  Now they do not honor it the warranty or will replace and equal value.  DO NOT BUY A SPRING AIR MATTRESS!!! LOOK AT THE LABEL BEFORE BUYING A MATTRESS! THEY MAKE POOR PRODUCTS AND DO NOT HONOR A DARN THING.

Spring Air went bankrupt in May 2009, and, with the bankruptcy filing, they voided any and all warranties for mattress purchases prior to that date. The new owners of the 'Spring Air' name do not use the original Spring Air factories, and now manufacture only 'hospitality quality' (read:hotel/motel) beds. Although they have NO LEGAL REASON to honor any of the original Spring Air warranties, they will offer original Spring Air owners a new mattress at cost (which includes shipping directly to your home.)

Call them at 617-884-2300 and they will advise what possible recourse you may have.

My faulty Spring Air was purchased in Nov.08 and falls under the voided warranty. Although it may not be what you expect, the fact that the new company is willing to work with customers AT ALL is a positive thing since, legally, they don't have to.

Count on a deal consisting of you having to purchase a new mattress for 1/2 to 1/3 discount off the retail price - since that includes shipping, it might not be a bad deal for you at all.  They offered me a new full-size mattress for around $300 (my original purchase price was $549 before tax) so, all things considered, I will probably go for it.

I didn't give the Spring Air rep any crap, and she was very cordial and professional. If you're not happy with your original Spring Air purchase, all you can do is kick yourself (like I did) for not doing my research homework before buying a piece of crap mattress.

I started the warranty claim process on my spring air mattress in April of 2010.  Since the time I started and when I finally was able to take it in for repair in November of 2010 the company I dealt with changed staff. When I took it in the gentleman told me I was lucky that I started the warranty process in April because they were no longer honoring any spring air warranties.

Of course like many others, 4 months later my mattress is back to sagging and causing me sleepless nights.  I'll try again, I'm hoping they'll offer some type of replacement.  $1,800 for a bed is steep, but I thought it would be worth it, boy was I wrong. It's a shame there are companies out there that sell such poor products.

Sincerely people...please, ask yourself what you as a consumer should do to make sure the product you are purchasing will perform as you expect it to.

At the very least, spend 15 minutes to actually read for yourself the entire limited warranty statement that comes with your product before you use it- not after. Most people fail to understand is that almost all manufacturer warranties are LIMITED WARRANTIES. That means if you don't meet the written conditions for use of the product you are taking responsibity for product failure on yourself.

Consumers are so quick to scream, yell, and verbally abuse the people who are trying to help them. If most people will be completely honest they never read the written terms of their limited warranties.

Say for instance a person buys new tires for their car but it is out of alignment. That person doesn't read the tire manufacturers limited warranty. The tires wear out too fast and that person gets all mad at the company that made the "piece of carp blankety-blank tires", then demands a new set of tires. Sounds silly? I would bet that if you knew someone who worked in a tire store they would tell you that kind of thing happens all the time.

HOW ABOUT A CLASS ACTION SUIT
NOT SURE THIS IS POSSIBLE. GUESS IT DEPENDS ON WHAT CHAPTER THEY FILED AND WHERE AND I DO NOT HAVE THIS INFORMATION. I CAN ONLY TELL YOU THAT LIKE EVERYONE I ALSO PAID ALOT OF MONEY FOR A BED THAT WOULD LAST A LONG TIME. I HAVE A MATRESS THAT IS 25 YEARS OLD AND IN BETTER SHAPE THAN THE SPRINGAIR THAT I BOUGHT THREE YEARS AGO. ALL IDEAS ARE WELCOME! I HAVE TO SLEEP SIDEWAYS TO GET A NIGHT OF REST. GOOD THING I AM SINGLE BECAUSE MY QUEEN BED ONLY SLEEPS ONE PERSON.

Yeah, I read the warranty.  All I did was sleep on the darn mattress, and it sags.  Bad. If we roll the wrong way, we feel like we are sleeping on a hill. Every morning, my wife and I wake up with back, neck & shoulder pain. If we go into the spare room, and sleep on the cheap $250 full bed we have in there, we do not experience any of this.  So, you are telling me that the cheap $250 mattress is better in comfort, performance and stability than the $1500 Spring Air Infinity mattress I have? Why the heck are you even trying to defend them?  Do you work for them?

Honestly, if it was just one or two people complaining, then maybe it was just from misuse.  But there are way too many complaints here.  Obviously, Spring Air screwed us all over.  We don't need you to add insult to injury (and that's what it's like sleeping on this mattress) by telling us that we are whining or complaining, or don't know what we are talking about.

If the mattress is so great, you are welcome to buy it from us?  How about that?  Let me know when you want to come pick it up.

I also have been on line and phone to find some one to help me with my Spring Air Warranty. But like every one else we've lost our money and mattress. The last person i talked to was Ohio American bedding 1- 899- 811 3603. They told me Spring Air went bankrupt in 2009. And the warranty's on Spring Air  were no good. Good luck to you. The new manufacture will not honor the older ones.

Ripped Off Consumer: JC Penney Scam
I have the same SAGGING problem following my purchase of highly priced Spring Air set 2005, filed a complaint few weeks later and guess what? my set was replaced with the same junk. I work for the Army and being overseas most of the time and nobody else sleeping on my bed I file another complain for the same SAGGING problem in 2007. Their inspector mentioned it's only 1.5" in the middle and it has to be more than that to replace the mattress...! Now, I'm back from overseas and find it impossible to sleep comfortably on this mattress. I contacted JC Penney's store where I bought the set but declined to be directly involved. Well, for the 4th time the inspector came in and found the SAGGING is ONLY 2" in the middle and told me that JC Penney's Customer Service will contact me. I have been waiting for their call for days but with no avail. Finally, I called'em...I was shocked to hear that the warranty is void because of "A STAIN" was found on the mattress. I requested a copy of the inspector's report and the picture showing the stain, but they declined my request cause it's " Penney's property."

We need to file a class action suit to stop these scams.

We bought a new Spring Air Back Supporter Mattress about 6 weeks ago and have the same problem , after 2 weeks we found that both sides were sagging , leaving a big hump in the middle. The local store came and measure the mattress and found a 1" sag , but said a rep from Spring Air would have to look at it to . The sag gets much worse as you sleep , I measured more than 3" when I get up I the morning. It's like sleeping in a hammock . I don' believe the sample in the showroom is the same mattress they sell you , Its a good mattress if you don't intend to sleep in it !

We also have a sagging SPRING AIR King mattress with a 10 year warranty that we puchased in 2007, I have called the new company and even though they were very nice on the phone said they would not honor the warranty from the old SPRING AIR!
Yes, we the public are once again being manipulated by the legal ways companies can get our money and just walk away scott free!
I don't like it, but what are we to do?
I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER PRODUCT FROM SPRING AIR!!

I too have been complaining about my mattress. Every morning I would wake up feeling pain like my back had snapped like a pretzel. I imagined that my mattress had a huge hole in it and blamed mattress for miserable pain.

My real problem was not the mattress it was the pillow I used. I am a side sleeper and was using wrong pillow very soft and flat. I got a firm pillow made for side sleepers it has a cutout that supports space between my head, shoulder and mattress. The very first time I used it I realize my problem was not the bed it was my stupid pillow. Ever since changing pillows my mattress feels fine. Maybe this will help someone else.

We purchased our spring air mattress about 9 years ago. Paid about 1000.00. But it started sagging within 2 yrs. Now its rippling sorta in the middle where my husband lays. I toss an turn on this mattress everynight. Its also a pillow top both sides.
It is not at all the way they described it when I bought it. I bought it because the guy told us it had like a 20 yr warranty . But I guess that was all a lie. I am getting tired of being ripped off. Has anyone gotten any results or is this a lost cause for all of us?

i'm so happy that i read these complaints before buying.  i just happened to stop at a furniture place today and came so close to buying a spring air set.  the salesman said they are top of the line.  he also mentioned the 10 yr unlimited warranty.  he didn't mention one word about them filing bankruptcy.  wouldn't you think he'd know????  thanks everyone.

I am getting the same runaround as everyone else is getting .... not honoring the warranty if purchased prior to 2009 ... strange thing is that their web site is filled with "trusted by millions since 1926" statements as if they are still the 'same' company for that entire period.  I am sure all of the employees and executives do not have a break in service due to the bankruptcy in 2009.  No one was affected except for the innocent people who purchased their products .... very sad .... very unprofessional ...

WE BOUGHT OUR SPRING AIR IN 2006 IN HAWAII.  SOUNDS LIKE A LONG TIME BUT THE STORY IS THAT IT WAS PUT IN A SECOND CONDO HOME.  ONLY GOT USED ONCE A MONTH FOR A WEEK AT A TIME.  NO KIDS.  ONLY 2 VERY NORMAL ADULTS.  ONLY NOW BEING USED FOR A 2 MONTH STAY WHILE HOME CONSTRUCTION.  IT IS AWFUL WITH A WORN OUT SAG ON THE SIDES.  OF COURSE OUR LOCAL ISLAND STORE WHERE WE PURCHASED IT WAS VERY RUDE AS THEY DO NOT EVEN SELL SPRING AIR ANY MORE.  THEY WERE SO RUDE.  SHE GAVE ME A DISCONNECTED PHONE NUMBER.  WHEN I CALLED HER BACK TO REPORT IT, SHE TOLD ME WHY DON'T I JUST CALL 911 !!!
I HAVE MESSAGES IN AT THE NUMBER OF 617-884-2300.  WILL WAIT ON THAT.  I DO NOT EXPECT MUCH TO HAPPEN?

fyi- Consolidated Bedding Industries who (with help of investment bankers) bought up the independent franchise factories in June 2007, went bankrupt in May 2009 and shuttered their factories after 23 months of being run by an investment group. They no longer exist. They no longer own or control the brand name. And they took your warranty reserve fund with them when they filed bankruptcy. Yes, it was bad. The former factory owners who produced the brand before the merger/acquisition in 2007 paid CBI millions of dollars to service the warranties. The former employees did not take your warranty away- CBI and the greedy bankers/investors did.

And fyi- the 1150 factory employees all lost their jobs, their insurance without rights to COBRA, their earned pay and expense reimbursements due to them. A few of them lost their lives because they lost medical insurance and could not get treatment. Many of them became homeless and now live in their cars and under bridges. Hopefully knowing that will make you feel better and justify your anger.

This is a press release that confirms the 23 months of an 83-year-old brand name under the control of greedy investment bankers (you can google it if you don't believe me):

"Press Release American Capital Invests $160 Million in the Acquisition of Spring Air Company by Consolidated Bedding
Bethesda, MD – August 8, 2007 – American Capital Strategies Ltd. (Nasdaq: ACAS) announced today that on June 25 it invested $160 million in Consolidated Bedding Inc. to support its acquisition and consolidation of The Spring Air Company (“TSAC”) and six of TSAC’s licensees, including eight manufacturing facilities. Systemwide Spring Air sales are over $400 million, making it one of the largest innerspring mattress brands in the U.S. Spring Air sells through most major department stores, furniture stores and mattress retailers under brand names including Spring Air Back Supporter®, Nature’s Rest®, Chattam & Wells®, and Four Seasons®. Prior to the transaction, Consolidated Bedding was the largest licensee of The Spring Air Company. American Capital’s investment takes the form of a senior unirate term loan and junior PIK notes. American Capital is also providing a revolving credit facility. H.I.G. Capital LLC, the equity sponsor and majority owner of Consolidated Bedding, is investing in subordinated debt and preferred equity.

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to partner again with H.I.G. Capital, which brings to this transaction its extensive knowledge of the bedding industry,” said Darin Winn, American Capital Regional Managing Director. “Our complete one stop financing package supports the consolidation of one of the premier mattress brands. This transaction is one of 31 financings completed by our Sponsor Finance Group in 2007 and represents a further step in our effort to grow our business of supporting the acquisition efforts and growth of portfolio companies of strong financial sponsors like H.I.G Capital.”

American Capital has invested directly and through its funds under management over $11 billion in the last twelve months, over $7.6 billion year to date and approximately $1.4 billion quarter to date. Not including funds under management, American Capital has invested over $8 billion in the last twelve months, over $5.7 billion year to date and approximately $1.2 billion quarter to date.

“Spring Air is a leading brand in an industry driven by population growth and largely insulated from economic cycles by consumers’ continuing mattress replacement needs and their persistent desire to upgrade,” said Bowen Diehl, American Capital Managing Director, Sponsor Finance. “Spring Air’s management team, with decades of experience in the bedding industry, is ideally qualified to maximize the potential of this strategic merger and consolidation.”

“This merger enables Spring Air to realize compelling synergies in operations, manufacturing, purchasing and logistics. Consolidating the franchisor/franchisee structure will bring more consistent quality and service to customers and consumers across the nation,” said John Drennan, American Capital Vice President, Sponsor Finance. “In addition, the Company will benefit from a new unified and coordinated marketing and sales effort and a streamlining of the Company’s product offerings in each of the industry categories.”

Established in 2005 with the merger of Spring Air Partners-North America and American Bedding Industries, two TSAC licensees, Consolidated Bedding is a leading manufacturer and distributor of mattresses and the largest TSAC licensee worldwide. Consolidated Bedding manufactures innerspring mattresses in plants in Florida, Texas, California, Ohio and New Jersey. The merger adds factories in Washington, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, Missouri, Massachusetts, Alabama and Georgia. Its broad range of mattresses at all price points are sold through four primary channels—furniture, department, specialty sleep and club stores. Spring Air will be headquartered in Chicago, IL and will employ nearly 1,150 employees.

“We are delighted that American Capital is investing in our portfolio company, Consolidated Bedding,” said Peter Cornetta, H.I.G. Capital Principal. “American Capital, again, demonstrated the ability to understand the key merits of a complex strategic transaction, move rapidly to close and deliver on its proposed financing package. Its one stop financing solution provides efficient support that will enable our management team to concentrate on its highest priority—optimally integrating the Spring Air Company and its licensees and delivering excellent products and service to our customers and consumers.”

My wife and I got a Spring Air at a local R.C. Willey in Utah in January 2010, the mattress was made 11/09. Within 3 months it felt like I was sleeping in a taco shell. We slept on it for a year and I could no longer handle 'taco bed' so we called R.C Willey about our warranty which was supposed to be unconditional 10 year warranty.

They sent out someone from Precise Mattress Inspection within a few days. He measured it and found a 1.75" body impression. Took pictures, made some notes and TWO days later I got a call from R.C. Willey and they said they spoke with Spring Air and they were going to credit me the cost of the Mattress. Not the Box Spring, Just the mattess...

So, The warranty worked for me, but maybe it's because it was made in November of 09.

Now I have about a thousand dollars in credit that I have to spend within 14 days to replace the mattress, which they will deliver and pick up the old one for free.

I guess I am lucky.. Dunno.

We use a mattress cover to keep stains off since I have heard horror stories about warranties being voided from stains. Before the mattress guy comes out if you do have a stain, get it cleaned. Call someone to do it if you need to. Get a steam cleaner and get those stains off, it will better your chances. That's what my brother did and he got his mattress replaced too a couple years ago.

This is my second warranty exchange on a mattress. My Serta lasted about 7 years, this Spring Air only lasted 3 months. Ugh I will never buy another spring air.
