WE BOUGHT A MAYTAG TOP LOAD CENTENNIAL WASHER JULY OF 2011.   WE HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS SINCE COMING IN THE DOOR.  IT WAS PURCHASED AT HARRINGTON APPLIANCE IN HARRINGTON DELAWARE .   THE FIRST THING WE NOTICED IS THAT THE CLOTHES WERE NOT GETTING CLEAN AND A CYCLE TAKES AN ABSURDLY LONG TIME.   IF YOU HAVE A SOUNDPROOF LAUNDRY ROOM, YOU MIGHT BE OK.  IT IS VERY NOISY AND TODAY WE HAD TO REBALANCE ONE LOAD ELEVEN TIMES.  RIDICULOUS.  WE HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE LOCAL PEOPLE IT WAS PURCHASED FROM AND THE MAYTAG COMPANY AND HAD A REPAIRMAN LOOK AT IT, TO NO AVAIL.  LONG STORY SHORT, IT IS A CRUMMY PRODUCT FOR THE PRICE PAID.   I GUESS WE PAID BY THE DECIBEL, BECAUSE WE GOT PLENTY OF BANG FOR OUR BUCK.

I hate this machine.  Having Maytag for years, this is the last one.  My clothes are not clean and some things I am having to wash 2 times.  I can dry 2 loads of clothes in the time it takes this washer to wash one load.  I like some things to soak.  I don't care about energy efficient water levels, I want my clothes to look like they were washed.  Sorry I paid a fortune for this hunk of metal. When it dies, I will not spend a penny to have it repaired.  I want something that is simple and doesn't contain all those sensors that I don't really need.

Buy a speed queen washer its the only domestic washer in the market that is still built  with old school technology switches and gears not sensors you pay more but it will last and last like an old maytag would

We bought a maytag centennial when we bought our house in 2009. Biggest piece of crap. It worked fine when we first bought it. We already had a repair man come and fix it once now it needs it again. Same thing it was going before. Wouldn't drain water and would start to agitate right away. Never seems to get clothes clean. Never again will I buy something from maytag or whirlpool

Maytag Centennial washers are crap. I purchased this washer in October of 2011. Since, I have had to repair twice. I thought this was suppose to be a great product. Each year aound November something breaks down. These people really know how to let you down. When I complained, they offered their appologies and a $300 insurance warranty. Wow that's almost the cost of the machine. They should have issued recalls with all these complaints. I guess we have to call the better business bureau.

    DANGEROUS
We purchased the Maytag Centenial top load washer in December 2011. After the first couple months it starting making grinding noises. Maytag service came out and fixed it. It was problem free for a period until 11/29/13 when during a wash cycle it burst into flames in my basement. Thankfully I was still home as well as my children and wife. While she called the FD I was able to extinguish the fire at the cost of smoke inhalation and a doctor visit resulting in breathing treatments every 4 hours. The fire damage was fairly minimal but the smoke damage extensive throughout my house. It took a restoration company 2 days of cleaning and their machines 3 days of running to rid the place of the fire smell. It appears the fire started in the motor / wiring harness area. I just purchased the LG brand with high expectations!

What a piece of crap the Maytag Centennial washer is, spent over $500 on it, and its a waste of money, whoever designed this washer should go back to school because its not worth a crap.....I will not have a repairman look at it and spend more money because its not worth it, I will use it till it dies and then to the scrap yard it goes which I will love pushing it off the trailor.......WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY!!!!!!!! Thanks Maytag and Whirlpool, its one of "Fords" better idea..............You did good by designing this one LMAO

I HATE THIS!  I too want to cry over this washer!  I was told that the reason it doesn't work is because of low water pressure and sediment in the water.  I have well water it has sediment!  Why is there no warning on the washer?  I was told buy Maytag it is not their problem and if I have the guy out to look at it I will be charged!  Also the "warning" is in the manual you get after you buy!  They did offer to sell me a filtration system as if I can afford that!!!!

I am also one of the unfortunate ones that purchased this set Jun 2011....started making weird noises  a year ago...now leaks all over the place. Had 2 techs come to check it out. The first took one look said to call Maytag this is crap. Called and the Maytag tech said the bearings were shot. He'd take care of it. Well today I get a call from him. Whirlpool is not covering the repair. Which is gonna cost at least $600 for parts and labor. Called Whirlpool to complain all they will do is cover 50% of parts. The labor is massive almost have to rebuild the machine.....WHAT A PIECE OF JUNK!!! Won't be fixing this one or buying ANY Whirlpool product ever. Will do mega research before I purchase again!

    F MAYTAG AND HOME DEPOT
Bought 3/11...worst appliance ever.  Home Depot and Maytag should be embarrased.  Sounds like a terradactyl when washing and every other wash clothes are soaking wet.  We are lucky if it washes and spins in 4 attempts.  WE WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER MAYTAG AGAIN!  And the repairmen are a joke, the conveniently fix it for a month or so or try to blame the fact I don't use a bag for socks...C MON MAN

this washer is a piece of junk...so many design flaws....leaves white residue all over dark clothes unless you use the bulky setting...Downy ball does not dispense all the softener and spills out over the clothes when removing from the washer...Downy does not recommend the ball for HE washers, but Maytag includes one with their washer. I believe there will be a class action suit against Maytag for this washer in the future. How can it be HE when you have to use the bulky setting even for a few items to prevent the white spotting on darks. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS MACHINE.
