WE BOUGHT A MAYTAG TOP LOAD CENTENNIAL WASHER JULY OF 2011.   WE HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS SINCE COMING IN THE DOOR.  IT WAS PURCHASED AT HARRINGTON APPLIANCE IN HARRINGTON DELAWARE .   THE FIRST THING WE NOTICED IS THAT THE CLOTHES WERE NOT GETTING CLEAN AND A CYCLE TAKES AN ABSURDLY LONG TIME.   IF YOU HAVE A SOUNDPROOF LAUNDRY ROOM, YOU MIGHT BE OK.  IT IS VERY NOISY AND TODAY WE HAD TO REBALANCE ONE LOAD ELEVEN TIMES.  RIDICULOUS.  WE HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE LOCAL PEOPLE IT WAS PURCHASED FROM AND THE MAYTAG COMPANY AND HAD A REPAIRMAN LOOK AT IT, TO NO AVAIL.  LONG STORY SHORT, IT IS A CRUMMY PRODUCT FOR THE PRICE PAID.   I GUESS WE PAID BY THE DECIBEL, BECAUSE WE GOT PLENTY OF BANG FOR OUR BUCK.

Hi I am writing due to the washer I have which is the
maytag centennial machine, tomorrow will be the  third time I've had a repair person to my home, I've had back surgery and cannot go up and down to handle this banging in this machine, I'm so disappointed in this machine..This machine never came in a box so I might have got stuck with a lemon, I'm tired of being told it checks out fine, well if that's the case you take it home , very pissed over this crap.

      Dear maytag,
I bought this same washer, maytag centennial and what a deception in marketing. It boasts the energy efficiency and safety features or no agitator, but I looked inside after my clothes kept smelling after washing. Come to find out the clothes never even get wet for washing. How can clothes get washed if they never get wet? They can not. So we use a bucket to fill up the washer with the proper amount of water and our clothes are at less getting clean now. What a rip off and waste of money. This should be recalled out of respect for their name and the customers that put their hard earned money into Maytag to get let down. 500.00! That's not chump change in my family's budget. I am going to get a different washer soon. I can hand wash my clothes better and faster than this model. And what a waste of space to not even use the capacity it has. Wow
      Please don't buy this!

I found my owners manual today when cleaning house. I have not looked at it yet, but I could see if it is available online or copy it for you. 707.413.8455. I am just disgusted that we spent aprox. $3800 on the set, I have never had a brand new washer/dryer set and was so excited. From the first time I used the washer, I knew it was a peace of garbage. I have tried different things to see if it will work better like resetting it, etc., my cloths never come clean, somehow our cloths come out with holes in them. And don't get me started on linens, IT WAS A COMPLET WASTE OF MONEY THAT I SPENT and now I don't have the money to fix it or buy another.  I think we should all find an attorney and file a class action lawsuit. Who is in with me?

I would like to sue them as well. I have always used Maytag Washer/Dryer sets throughout my life. We purchased for a sum of $3,800 or so for the Maytag Centennial Commercial Technology Washer - Our cloths do not come clean, some of our clothing has holes in them when they come out of the washer, it is very noisy, ..... I am so frustrated, now the spin cycle is very, very loud, not a normal sound. We called our local repair person and were told the part alone will cost $400 plus labor. I keep reading the same complaints over and over. If you have found out any information on a class action lawsuit or have a contact at Maytag for complaints, could you please let me know?  My home email:  hohe40@outlook.com. I would greatly appreciate it.

We bought this machine Jan 2011.   And yes, what a ripoff and a piece of junk.   White residue spots left ALL the time on dark cotton clothes.   Have run the cleaning cycle and that does nothing.   Just more wasted energy and water.  Tried to read about this problem....read about cleaning lint filter in your washing machines....but then read, this one does not have one!   Very disappointed in the Maytag name.   I could wash them on a rock down by a stream and have clothes come out better.

I have the same problem with mine.  It is so frustrating the clothes do not come clean and all my black clothes are left with that white residue.  I have no idea what it is.  I have to wash my clothes by HAND after I run it through the washer.  I even run an extra rinse cycle hoping that it will get my clothes clean...no avail.
I am very disappointed and hope they do recall this product.

Put your laundry detergent in before you put your laundry in. That should resolve the residue issue.

I always put HE detergent in first and place the cloths loosely donut fashion. But...The sheets are never clean.  Its disgusting.  A washer needs water to wash clothes.  Maytag Centennial is very noisy and totally inefficient, since the word efficient suggests a good job.  It's inefficient to take cloths out of the washer to find they are 'still dirty' and don't even smell clean. Do you ever smell your laundry?

putting the detergen in first does not solve the residue problem.  It is only about 4 years old, and once a cycle finishes, you have to get to it and open it, or it starts a new wash cycle, all on it's own.  not going to buy another maytag

I have had this machine for 4 years, fixed 2x, and the clothes still don't come clean. The store repair man told me that I needed to use HE detergent  (check), do small loads (check), make sure the to balance the load (check), and wash out the machine every month (check). A washing machine with this.many steps had better get my clothes clean while saving me money, right?? No, this is a piece of junk. The clothes come out with residue on them, my whites are now gray, and it take 2x the time to wash. Are you kidding me? The store would not take it back they just kept sending someone out to LOOK at it and give me more ADVICE.

These washers are crap.  They wear out your clothes and sheets because the used little water and the constant agitation is like scrubbing your clothes on rocks at the riverside.  These types of washers have been the greatest flop and ripoffs for us.  Evidently the creators of this type are men who do not do laundry.  The original washer types have worked for decades.  If it ain't broke, don't fix it.  I would like to find a class action suit to join to make these companies accountable for the thousand of dollars we have lost when purchasing these washers.  Big manufacturers continue to screw over the public and get away with it.  I will never purchase a Maytag or other brands made by them, again!!!!

Does anyone know what the word "Maytag" means?  Does not work.  We bought a Maytag dishwasher along with this washer.  The dishwasher went out two days before the "warranty"(The fact that the warranty only was for 12 months should have been our first clue).  Then the next year it went out again.  You want to know something else.  We only ran the piece of junk twice a week.  We use the dishwasher for drying hand-washed dishes or for sorting clothes we take to the laundromat.
It does not matter that we keep manufacturing jobs in America.  Americans will not continue to buy crap.  If American companies do not straighten up, they will doom themselves.

I have always put detergent first, even adding water before I put the clothes in BUT it doesn't make a bit of difference. This is the WORST machine ever created. Clothes are not clean unless you add water. Countless items of clothing have been torn or ripped?  LOUD RUNNING!  and you know what's worse is buying the matching dryer.  Takes forever to dry, and I mean forever. I saved for several years to buy a good long lasting machine and it's JUNK!!!!!!

I have the 1-year-old Centennial commercial technology(Eco-Conserve) and also noticed that some clothes come totally dry from the washer. How that could happen with a traditional brand like Maytag? This washer gets on my nerves as like you I also have to pour in water into it to make sure the clothes are, at least, wet. Can I return this machine to Maytag after 1 year of disappointment and still dirty clothes? I want to exchange for a traditional type-it could be Maytag. This washer sucks!

All of the same problems above for me also. This Maytag centennial washer is the worst product ever sold by anybody for $500!! What a big rip off! To my sorrow, I bought this Maytag Centennial because my old Maytag had lasted 25 years but was still going strong. I wanted to upgrade to new technology, and save water. What a mistake! After just 6 months of frustration and taking awhole dayjust to wash clothes, I finally just removed it, and put my old one back in, luckily I still had the old one in my garage.  Why can't any manufacturer one just make an old style washer again, with no bells and whistles on it, but just gets the job done right and works for decades? Hint: Just copy an old Maytag!!!!!  If anyone knows of such a product, please let me know

I had an old Maytag for 20+ years and loved it.  Unfortunately it broke and I had to get a new one.  I hate it.  I also find it does not even wet the clothes and we too pour extra water in to at lease get them wet.  If I do not double rinse the dark clothes they come out with soap stains all over them.  I am careful to measure soap so that is not the problem.  You can not clean or rinse clothes without sufficient water. These machines should be recalled!

The Problem is Maytag does not make the washers anymore. Whirlpool bought them out. Another Thing I should have noticed before I bought mine was WHY WOULD YOU PUT A SPACE ON THE CONTROL KNOB FOR RINSE AND SPIN OR DRAIN AND SPIN. Someone had to know there was a problem with it not completing a cycle wouldn't you think to put that on there. Mine went out two months after warranty. I wrote Corp. office and received a phone call. Surprised me, but the thing about it was I had to pay for a service call before they would send me a part. She gave me the number of the local service company and I called. They never returned my call. So now I  still have a piece of junk sitting in my home and cant afford to purchase another one at this time.

So sad that every post I read has so many issues like mine .   I also do everything correctly even smaller loads etc.  So the washing machine stops between cycles and then it will just keep blinking or say it's done at the spring cycl so the washing machine stops between cycles and then it will just keep blinking or say it's done at the spin cycle, Then you open it up and you have soaked clothes    There's a few things I have done .   Of course take the clothes out put it back in press start again and I hope it goes back to the spin cycle.   Best thing I have found is to turn it to rinse and spin or just been which is located at the bottom .   That has worked sometimes.
