I recently realized that I was being billed $12.95 from MNI Credit Reporting on a monthly basis.  I have NEVER used an online reporting tool for my credit score.  Even scarier, there seems to be hundreds of complaints regarding this company throughout the web.  After calling them and being put on hold for over 30 minutes, I decided to try again with similar results.  It appears that this company steal your information, and then you can't reach them to cancel the billing.  If the charge is recurring your credit card company can not get your money back - they deem it as user negligence.  Proceed with MNI and FreeCreditReport.com with caution - They are a slippery group of thieves!

I also have a complaint against Experian* freecredirep where two $14.95 charges were put on one of my credit cards in same month just a few days apart for a total of $29.80.  I got a security alert from my cc company about possible fraudulent charges to my account.  This is a service I greatly appreciate!   I was out of town and did not have a way to access my account, which I do regularly when at home, so therefore, when I returned, I saw the alert.  I immediately called my cc company and told them that yes indeed, these were fraudulent charges not known to me or requested by me.  I have never contacted ANY credit reporting companies, so my cc fraud dept. Rep had me stay on the line with him and a conference call was made to this Experian *freecredirep comany and the issue was resolved with their fraud dept.  A confirmation # was given so my cc co.'s fraud dept. Has all of this info and will content. To monitor this complaint for me.  And, of course, I will have to have all my accounts closed and start from scratch.   This Experian company also said that a female name other than my name was used under my account number to charge my account these funds.  It just proves that this is an evil world we live in and there are millions of crooks out there stealing everyone,s hard earned money for their own gain.  Someday, the will reap what they sow, either in this life, or the next.

The same thing happened to me; 2 charges from Experian FreeCredS in the amount of $14.94.  I disputed the charges, closed my account and thought it was done.  The next month, I received the same two charges.  Visa had forwarded my info to "vendors" for continuity purposes.  I had to get another replacement card and block the forwarding on the account to get the charges to stop.

When I contacted Experian, they were not helpful.  They told me I had no active accounts and had nothing in my name.

I definitely learned my lesson about purchases online AND the auto-forward from Visa.

I really do believe that Experian is innocent in all of this.  I just found the "recurring 19.95 charge" on my banking statement (for the second time in a year), went throung my account, and found that it is the 4th time (this time) that money had been withdrawn.  I first called experian, and the lady was very helpful, and scary.  Helpful because she reimbursed my money...scary because the almost 60.00 I was expecting to get reimbursed turned into 217.35 that was used by 5 different people in different states.  Obviously second call was to the bank to shut down the card.  I honestly believe my second bout with this was due to the bank not shutting off the Visa card change option, which is VERY Important.  If you call and don't tell the bank you are closing the card due to fraud, they issue you a new card, and THEN send notification to everyone you have recurring charges with and notify them of the new number...See the problem?  Hope this helps.

My daughter is a third year straight A accounting major at major university and was unwittingly caught up in this scam. She and I share an American express account that was charged 19.95 per month for almost a year. She and I overlooked the charge because we thought it was the others charge. Neither ordered the "services".  These people need to be shut down and jailed. This has class action written all over it. I will fight this!

I'm also experiencing the same issue. There needs to be a better way that our financial institutions can prevent these unauthorized transactions from processing. I have never had a charge like this on my account prior to this happening. I have a routine with my debit card, bank institutions should notify their clients when rand charged are being processed on their account.

So same situation, $19.95 charge found on my account.  Called the number on the charge, spoke to a woman who asked typcial private information questions.  I asked her where she was and she said Phillipines, hmmmm.  I assumed fraud right away, talked to her for a bit longer and she said she was going to reimburse my account $59.85 which really made me concerned.  Why would they give me three times the money back.  Hung up and called the bank, canceled my cards.  Crazy thing is that they did reimburse my account the sixty bucks which really throws me off?  Called the bank to let them know and waiting a response.  Did anyone every get money reimbursed from Experian.  If so, what happen next?

i was reluctant to give my credit card number to the company, but i was going to cancel it anyway so i gave it to them and they said they would refund it. what was crazy was they were able to give me the name of the person who used my card to pay for their credit score! so i think the company is legit, its just somehow our accounts were compromised. scary!

RECUR DEBIT CRD PMT10/16 Experian *CreditRep 877-297-7790 CA

I came across this site after doing a Google search when I received a mysterious 14.95 charge from Experian.

Since some people seem to have had the same experience, I wanted to share my situation since it turned out to be identity theft.

I ended up speaking with the fraud department at Experian and my Bank and they said that what happened was that someone got my debit card info and made the charge to Experian. The reason thieves do this is to get access to your credit report which will list all of your credit cards as well as other personal info.

Experian is going to refund the charge and my bank put a hold on my debit card. Both my bank and Experian were very helpful and they said that unfortunately this is getting to be more common.

I hope this helps for those of you had the same thing happen. The bank said that checking your online statements every few days for unauthorized charges and changing your debit card PIN number every few months can help.

I just got charged on my credit card $14.95 and my debit card $19.95 both were for people not me. They reversed the charges, but it seems really weird. They keep saying someone got both my card numbers, but I have no other fraud charges. Now I just received an email from them but it had someone elses name one it. I really don't like this.

Just got off the phone with my bank. Call your bank first! They were surprisingly helpful as this has been my first experience dealing with fraudulent charges to my debit account. I received two, $14.95 charges within two days of each other both marked as from "EXPERIAN"

    transaction information on the two
Recur Purchase with ATM card EXPERIAN *CREDITREP 8 CA
    Card purchase authorization EXPERIAN *FRE

Well, called customer service for my bank who put me in touch with a claims representative. Together we conference-called Experian who asked for my card number and my full name which I provided. The name on the two accounts opened with Experian was not my own nor someone I knew, which I confirmed with Experian. Experian put me through to a supervisor who blocked the account then refunded my money along with confirmation numbers. The entire process took about 20 minutes. Once the pending refunds get through, I'm going into my local branch to obtain a new debit card number and canceling my previous.

Be sure to call the bank first if there is ever a problem with your bank account! They will speed you through the phone-system red-tape which companies like Experian prefer to use.

I have gone through the same thing today...$14.95 charged to my credit card....called and talked to Experian...they wanted my credit card # and when I refused they wanted DOB...I said I would call my credit card...

Credit card was very helpful put me on a 3-way call with Experian...who asked several questions and then told me someone named Patricia M. had looked up her credit report. I said, so I should change my card number...she said I can't give you any advice but I would do a credit report to make sure no other charges were made...I said if you know who did this credit search on my credit card can't you charge them with fraud...I mean you must have all of her information through her credit report...they said they could not....

It all sounds like a fishy scam to me by Experian...I am not too worried because there are no other charges on my credit card and the said they did not obtain our credit report...so it has nothing to do with them getting my other account numbers...but I did change our charge number so they can not charge anything else...Experian refunded my money and said they have blocked the account...I said why can't you do more since this a fraudulent charge and they said it might have been a mistake or sometimes people say they don't know the persona and they do...

In any event, this is what happened to me...how it helps

Same thing here.......$14.95 charge on my credit card from Experian/freecreditscore.com.  My guess is that it's an inside job.  Geeze!  It's a credit reporting agency for crying outloud!  They have all of our credit information, SS#'s, DOB's etc. right at their finger-tips!

This is exactly what I thought when I called them today regarding a $19.95 charge on my account.  Apparently 3 people attempted to use my card number.  I asked about them letting charges through on my account when the names did not match and the woman talked in circles.  When I informed her that I was the internal auditor for the credit union my card was with, she was in a real hurry to get me off the phone.  Real hurry.  Makes me believe that it is them trying to make money by scaring people into having Experian monitor their account.  If someone had really stolen my debit card number, they would have bought more than a recurring credit report offer.
