Complaint

I found this complaint on-line and my scenario was exactly the same.

I received a call with a recorded voice saying the call was from "Card Services" telling me that I needed to "act now to save money on my credit cards or the offer would expire."  Then I was given an option to press a number to be connected with a live operator and the option to press another number to stop receiving any more "notifications".  I pressed to speak to the "operator" to ask why they're calling me since I am on the Do Not Call list.  She hung up on me immediately.  I tried to call the number back, but the number I tried was disconnected.

Have tried most of the things above.  My next step will be calling the phone company and telling them that if they can't stop it, I will be discontinuing land line service.  Maybe if enough people give up their land lines because of these people, the phone company will figure out how to help, Most people have cells phones and can block the calls with out paying like with the land lines,

Do any of you have a Bank Of America VISA card ?  I have been trying to stop these calls  for two years.  I just now received a call with a recorded voice saying the call was from "Credit Card Services" telling me that I needed to "act now to save money on my credit cards or the offer would expire."  They would call three or four times a week.  I have noticed that I no  longer get thes calls after I quit using my BAC Visa card for several months.  I called BAC and they claim they now nothing about the company "Cedit Card Services".
I pay my bill on line and when I pay the bill  in full.  Credit Card  Services takes the minimum monthy payment amount from my Credit Union and pays that amount to my BAC VISA account.  This  leaves  my BAC VISA account over payed.  I didn't ues  this account for five months and the calls stopped.  I just used  this credit card  four days ago and I just got another call to day.  I am now  going to call BAC again now.  I hope this helps you.  Gary E

I usually don't answer these calls when we get them, but I'm thinking of trying one of these things next time:

    1)  Press 1 to get a rep and then ask them if they've accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.  That ought to freak them out a bit, or at least confuse the heck out of them.  Keep a few Bible verses handy just in case they fall for it.

    2)  Get one of those prepaid Visa or Mastercard cards and spend whatever balance is on them so it has a zero balance.  Give them that number when they ask for your credit card number.

I just got a call too and was STUPID enough to give them my card numbers!  I know better!  I work for a lawyer.  I guess I just got sucked into the 3.9% interest rate they were promising me.  They were able access my accounts and tell me what my balance was, what my next payment due was and when. Since both cards are maxed out, they probably won't be calling me back..haha!   I just got off the phone with my credit card company and had to have those 2 accounts cancelled and new cards re-issued.  They said it was definitely a scam and Capital One never hires a third party to negotiate interest rates.

Ok, it's been nearly 2 weeks since these guys stopped calling, and these guys could be related to Consolidated Recovery Group out of Escondito, CA. Pull your credit report and see if there's a collections item from these guys (you're entitled to a free report from the three credit agencies every year). I had an outstanding item related to a closed business account from a couple of years ago that was being reported by CRG. I found out about it about 2 months after these turds started calling me. I cleaned the little mess up, and lo and behold, 2 weeks later they stop calling. It could be a coincidence, but if anyone else has an outstanding item from this group, I'll consider that smoke enough for there to be a fire and I'll post all the information I have on the company, including mailing address, phone numbers, and principal's names.

This post was interesting as I believe I ended up in this nightmare of cell phone telemarketing (hundreds of calls from credit member services over past year -same experience as others) directly after a battle with a local hospital collection agency who started calling my cell for a $20 charge that had been paid promptly - after many inaccurate calls, I reamed out the collections call center and this phone harassment started right afterwards - I have always wondered about the connection...

They are still calling, nothing seems ot stop them, 5 years and they refuse to say who they are, just vague answer. Then they insist on me giving info, if not, they hang up, call next month, over and over.

The person posting as "Duyzenkunst" may be right that there are multiple outfits presently operating this same scheme. The system would be easy to duplicate and afford some protection by making it harder to ID the perpetrator in any given case. Their goal is profit, not originality. Threatening to report a DNC violation is a bit like admonishing someone that crossing the street mid-block to rob the bank may result in a jaywalking citation. I think the waste-their-time strategy goes straight to theIr profit and has some hope of getting them to mark one's number as unprofitable.

This is an outrage!  I am appalled by the government's apathy.  Are you really telling me that these people cannot be caught with the technology we have today?  REALLY? Tell anyone and EVERYONE you know about this scam!  That is the ONLY way to stop them from exploiting vulnerable people.  We have to pull together and look out for eachother!

If the US Secret Service is investigating this, they are doing a horrible job.  Tell them to call me and I can give them some pointers.

I tried the idea of pressing #1 to speak to a real person.  When I got a woman on the line, I gave her a blast from a portable air horn (the kind you would use on a boat).  It didn't even stop her.  I suspect that they've got some kind of a device that blocks any sound the exceed a certain decibel.  After I hit her with the blast from the horn, I asked "how did you like that" and she went right on talking as if nothing happened.  I give up!  I may have to disconnect my phone to stop the harassing phone calls. Yesterday, I got these calls three times within four hours.  If they ever catch these people, I'd sure like the opportunity to "meet" with them and have a baseball bat in my hand.  I'd enjoy busting up a few heads.

I answered the phone introducing myself as special agent Simmons with the FBI   I told the scammer I was waiting for his call as there was a pattern of calls to this number   I told him i was pleased to seak with him and looked forward to meeting him very soon. I explained that there is technology that made it possible to trace calls that he obviously felt were untraceable.   I could hear his sphincter muscles tightening.    He became very apologetic and said he would offer up any information needed.
I must have given myself away because he eventually caught on. But it was fun for a few minutes.  Ohhh if it was only true.

called me twice with in an hour. told them take me off. and do call at least once a week. maybe say just a minute. pretend your a small child. call them santa and they`ll hang up after a bit. again joking. preach to them about something like your insane. next time ask for their home # you`ll get back to them. next time, tell them your leaving a poopie in the toilet. make grunt noise`s and say aaaaah that`s better. make more grunt noise`s LOL they`ll hang up. next time ask what their wearing. they sound sexy. even if same sex. next time play their game go along. NOT giving them any data. we usually hang up. wish we had the device that showed the number ahead of time.

This annoyance? Only in America! Just ignore it, All though I have elderly parents and have to respond to
an incoming call. Too bad we can't forward this call to the Fed's. Like, that would do any good.

I keep getting the same calls and the guy on the line (I could barely understand) when I asked him his phone number said the number is [***] you.  He repeated it three times for me.  Nice company.
