Contacting Quicken loans was the worst mistake i have made. The "Mortgage specialist" who i dealt with was very unprofessional and very nasty. Because i decided to take my business elsewhere to get a better mortgage loan and look out for myself Quicken loans decided they where going to rush all the paper work without my approval and lock in a rate.

They constantly harassed my family by calling even after we told them we were taking our business else where. As a result of this Quicken loans decided they were going to keep my deposit which i think is unethical. People do not take your business to Quicken loans as you can see my experience and other negative complaints you see on this page are proof of bad customer service

Did you electronically sign the documents?
If you didn't, I have read Quicken can't charge the deposit against your carge card.

This place is filled with very deceitful people.  They are pushy, don't care about the borrower and only care about getting your $500 and getting you to sign the documents electronically.  The good faith estimate was probably done in seconds and was riddled with errors and was not a good loan for me and my family.  They don't listen to you and instead spat off about them being an ethical lender, only have 3 valid complaints with BBB, best company to work for, featured on Good Morning America, etc.  I can't see how this is the same company that I dealt with.  I guess corruption is everywhere.  Do yourself a favor and do NOT call Quicken Loans.  They will rip you off.  Despite what they say over and over again, their fees are higher, rates are higher, and they are rude and pushy when you get in their way.

To be an employee there you must have checked your morals at the door, or maybe you just never had any to start.  Ripping off good, hard-working people is the low of the low.  I just hope that someday you realize what you and your company are doing and find a way to pay back what you have taken from society.

I'm submitting a story to ABC news.  Please do the same, we should concentrate our efforts.
Go to ABC news and submit to Good Morning America.  You'll have to write a one page letter and mail it.  It's worth it.  Please help.

Basically the same story, I called to refinance, good faith holding fee, terrible service and then when I ended it I am forfeiting my fee its all legal etc etc. They can spend my money responding to complaints logged with the following:

Quicken Loans is owned By Quicken Inc and Intuit Inc which have software products that we can choose to use or not. Let them know that you don't appreciate being ripped off especially during difficult times. Also log complaints with your Attorney General, Better Business Bureau, The Federal Trade Commission, The Office of Financial & Insurance Services and The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

I did give my CC info for the $500 deposit. I did not sign any or E-Documents or any other forms. Can they still charge me?

Where have read that they can not charge your cc unless you have signed the contract?

I just spoked to Indy Mac about our home loan.  Looking over the paper work the representative said we got raked over on fees added.  We paid $14,000 closing cost she said if we went through the bank directly we would have only paid $4,000.

I don't know if this is true but this is what I was told.

What in the world are you people talking about?  Do you think that these mortgage bankers get paid with your $500?  I have a friend that works there, makes a heck of a lot more money than I do, and doesn't get paid until the loan closes.  WHY WOULD SOMEONE WASTE THEIR TIME TO TAKE YOUR $500 IF IT DOESN'T GET THEM ANYTHING?
Why don't all you people figure it out.  Home values dropped- get over it!

    Quicken Scams
Actually, I believe you must be a Quicken employee.  We have had our 'approval' since late December 2008, here is is early March 2009 and we still have not closed.  Everytime we satisfy their request with a repair or a clarification document, they ask for more.  I don't mind providing these documents, but when I have to send it a 2nd or even a 3rd time, it really ticks me off!  This is no way to run a successful business, the only thing Quicken Loans is successful at is SCAMMING thousands of people out of their hard earned money, even Social Security!!!

As for the person who doesn't think they make money by screwing with us (Jermaine), think again.  They make a lot.  It's a big company and $500 for each loan app that they do not refund adds up when they are screwing with dozens and dozens of people a day.  And of the loans they finally do fund, from what I can see they are ripping off people on the closing costs.  They make money whether they lend to you or not, I have no doubts there.  And as a final note - not all homes lost value.  Many did, but not ALL.  The value of out house when up in the last 2-3 years by a fairly decent amount.  It all depends on the area that you live in.

We also started a loan process with QuickenLoans, right at the beginning of January.  Certainly a mistake.  They were friendly and responsive right up until they took our $500.00.  After that they would NEVER return a phone call and were extremely slow (if ever) in sending an email response.  They also continuously drag things out during the week until a Friday and make you stew in your frustration over the weekend until Monday when you can start the process of trying to contact them for a status all over again.

We had the same issue of having to fax and re-fax information because they kept saying they didn't receive it even after it was checked off that they did receive it.  Very annoying.  I started making copies of all the faxes I had to resend just so I could keep track of how many times I had to refax.

We successfully completed every task they presented, then they sent out an appraiser who turned out to be completely incompetent and screwed up the report, which took a week and a half to get filed.  The cost to cure list was all cosmetic items (painting) which should have made no difference in obtaining a loan, yet based on that Quicken suddenly decided to reject us without even giving us a chance to address the list.  We literally had to beg to be allowed to address the items and be reconsidered, and then they finally said if we complete the list our loan would be funded.  We did complete the list and the work was verified as being satisfactorily completed by an appraiser.

Once that verification was filed they had up to 48 hours for underwriting to review everything and we were supposed to hear from them by now... but we haven't and it has now been 4 days.  When we emailed for a status 2 days ago we were threatened with a denial of the loan.  So much for the promise of funding if the list was complete... we are still in limbo and have no idea where we stand.

well, it is obvious that the government won't do anything.  SO, open up a phone book, go online to their website, and type in who you think should get a loan and use a made up email and name.  Waste these "loan expert's" time.  Can you think of a better idea?

I guess they improved over the last few years in that their initial approach is much smoother.  They gave me exactly what I asked for, got the rate I expected (4.375%), fixed for 30, closing costs were only $1500.  Yes I got the initial deposit back as promised.  However, my contact Doug Laska, was not honest with me when it came to selling the note.  He specifically told me Quickens would hold the note and that I would be able, as mentioned in a complaint from others, as a Quickens client, to refinance or switch to a 15 year mortgage at a later date at no cost.  Imagine my surprise and anger when I received the letter telling me that me mortgage had been sold.  I hadn't even made my first apyment yet.  They will tyell you whatever it is you want to hear to get your business.  Once you find out they lied it is too late as you are no longer their customer and too bad for you.  I will never do business again with anything associated with the quickens or intuit name.  Good bye Turbo Tax, hello H & R Block tax software.

Well here is it the 17th and are STILL waiting to get this loan closed.  We've had more barriers to climb over, our income has been verified and reverified so many times its insane and now I'm sure it will be another weeks before we can even get some communication again.  I'm crawling out of my skin with anxiety, I can't sleep and when I do I now grind my teeth.  There is no way in the world it should ever take THIS long to close a loan.

And as far as their customer service department goes, they are useless.  The only thing they have accomplished for us is putting us through to a voicemail box to leave a message that never got replied to.

If we EVER get this loan closed I might be happy if they sold the mortgage to someone else... and I will never deal with them again.

    Stuck in the abyss
How long have you been stuck in limbo? I've been working with them for over 3 weeks and stuck at Step 3 - Approved with conditions. Provided them with evey type of documentation except DNA samples. I've used them in the past three times but never with this much difficulty (2005, 2002. 1999). Now I'm worried they are just stringing me along trying to find a buyer for my mortgage before they even make it.... Not sure what to think. What step are you on and how long has it been going on?

I am just about to complete a refinance with Quicken loan.  After dealing with them for two weeks, all I have to say is that they are one of the best companies I have every dealt with.  They have explained everything, everything is in writing, and the staff can not be any more helpful.  I do not know what everyones problems are with them, but for me they have given me over 100% of their time and experience.
