Contacting Quicken loans was the worst mistake i have made. The "Mortgage specialist" who i dealt with was very unprofessional and very nasty. Because i decided to take my business elsewhere to get a better mortgage loan and look out for myself Quicken loans decided they where going to rush all the paper work without my approval and lock in a rate.

They constantly harassed my family by calling even after we told them we were taking our business else where. As a result of this Quicken loans decided they were going to keep my deposit which i think is unethical. People do not take your business to Quicken loans as you can see my experience and other negative complaints you see on this page are proof of bad customer service

Stay far away from the company.  I used to work for them and they are pushy to clients and pushy to the employees.  Stay far away.  Trust me. If you go with them, you are getting over charged.  If you decide to work for them, then plan on being very very stressed and over worked.

    Hope this helps,

Save it Kelly.  Quicken Loans is a sweat shop and you know it.  They treat employees like dirt and are trained to push clients on the phone.  Everyone....stay away if you care about your hard earned money.

Quicken Loans is not a scam but more a sweat shop.  You are just a number as an employee and just a number as a client.  You are pushed hard into the loan and over charged as well.  Go to another company both for a mortgage and a job. Don't say I didn't warn you.  Go with your gut on this people.

STAY AWAY!  It is so true how you are treated as an employee and also as a client.  I worked with the company and left because of the stress and the unethical tactics.  Most of the employees who work at the company are just to afraid to leave in fear of not finding a job in this touch economy and Quicken Loans knows this.

I've refi'd before, and I completely agree that quicken does not follow standard practices in the industry.  I had a guy on the phone changing his tune every time I questioned something.  Told him 500 bucks was kinda high for an appraisal, he says make it 350.  He wanted to make the closing costs 3000.  I said, that's odd that it's 3k right on the button, he says he can make it 2k.  When I told him I would not sign any documents or give him any "good faith deposit" until I saw a good faith estimate, he says he'll waive the deposit and send the estimate  Well, well, well, there's no waiver, the "required deposit" is $500, and there is no estimate, just his numbers on the application.  If quicken would just honestly follow standard practices, they would probably close many more loans or at least have far fewer complaints.  The real tip-off for me was that he was always making the deal sweeter and simply asking for my credit card number for the appraisal which I've found in the past is always included in the GFE.
I just didn't feel like paying good money to find out what they really had to offer.   I would not recommend this company to my worst enemyf6j2

Just which office of Quicken do you work out of? New York City?

My best description of Quicken Loans personnel, speaking only of those that I have spoken with, is that they work in a "boiler room" operation.

There is an obvious connection between loans "sold" and compensation and when you say no they become angry.

You will sell none of your services to me or to anyone I can influence.

We've been stuck in the process of buying a home for two months now, after we were told it would take 45 days at most. This company keeps asking for the same paperwork over and over again, and they sent an appraiser from three hours away who filed a complaint about every tiny thing he could find. We can't get our loan closed until a 1" chip in the paint in the living room is repaired and he finds the time to drive three hours again to reassess the home. It took him over two weeks from the time the appraisal was ordered the first time to show up! They couldn't use a local appraiser, though, because they wanted "their guys." Who knows how much longer we're going to have to wait...

And now they refuse to count the funds in my partner's bank account as an asset even though both of our names are on the mortgage and they counted his income toward qualifying the loan in the first place. Have I tried to get ahold of my "loan team"? You betcha! I called my "client care specialist" thirty times in the last two days (business days) and she's never there. She calls once every few weeks and if I miss the call and return it immediately, she's gone. She doesn't even have a voicemail attached to her extension to take a message.

My "mortgage banker" isn't much better, but at least he has voicemail and gets back to messages within a few days. That's good service for Quicken... getting called back a few days later. This company is AWFUL.

I wish I had read these posts earlier.  I have dealt with a jerk at Quicken; Mike Hamka.  He lured me into submitting a deposit of 500.00  with his fast double talk. Shortly thereafter, I received the application with fees that my mortgagor, Chase had said Quicken would not charge(Quicken and Chase has a relationship and Chase indicated it was backlogged and routed me to Quicken who they indicated would honor a fee structure Chase had offered its customer.  NOTTTTTTTTT. Hamka and his cronies had all the fees included that were not supposed to be; origination fees, appraisal fees, and on and on.  He quoted me 4 different new mortgage payment amounts.  Also, after rolling the closing costs back into my mortgage amount, he still added an additional 700.00 for me to pay out of pocket.  I will lose my money before I fool with these crooks.  I am reporting them to the BBB and anyone else I can.  Please, Please, look elsewhere for a mortgage folks.  They will cause nothing but pain and suffering. It is as if they are talking to you believing you are a not a living human being.  This unscrupulous man was rude at times, condescending and totally arrogant.  Lord help him when Hell catches Him!

We made a huge mistake too.  UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE SO DEEP INTO IT THAT IF WE BACK OUT WE RISK BEING SUED BY THE SELLER! They blame the long review process on you or the FHA but actually they just put your docs on a pile and the review team gets to it when they feel like it.  They had our home insection for over four weeks then they called me to tell me we had to have ANOTHER home inspection.  They are rip off artists!  I already own a home so I know this is not normal.  I should have stuck to my old lender.  I am a dumb [***]

    lending tree nightmare
Haven't used Quicken, but Lending tree is the biggest nightmare of all.
DO not use them, stay away.  7 months of nightmares then poof they say loan is denied due to lack of assets.  Would you really be getting a loan if you have tons and tons of assets?  Don't be fooled by their advertising.

I, too, am in the middle of a QuickenLoans refinance mess. They are anything but Quick. Be prepared to call them every other day or the ball stops rolling. Your rate lock will go into extension at least once, requiring a quarter point fee each time. All delays are blamed on Obama and new FHA processes, but they are rewarded for dragging their feet. Don't expect a phone call after the $500 fee clears.  It's all email after that and even then only after you initiate each conversation. I dealt with Lending Tree before and they were a nightmare. I just knew it couldn't get any worse.  I stand corrected.

Quicken was one of 3 that I got off the web.  After filling out a form on line.  Started the process on line then up popped a window that said "your credit score has to be 620 before we can even consider you".  Will that made me made so I proceed to shoot off an email.  Got a phone call on my voice mail from someone there didn't catch her name.  So this morning I called her back.  Got some guy who connected me to an officer here in Texas.  He told me that was right that you credit rating had to be 620 to even be considered for a loan.  Shot off another email and on the page were you rate the service I gave them the lowest rating I could and then checked the box no about referring them as a lending co. to anyone.  Then in the next box wrote another statement about why I wanted the loan.  Will not do any business with them.

I have dealt with Quicken Loans several times in the past and have always been happy with their service...UNTIL NOW!!!! When interest rates started to fall I decided to respond to an email I received from Quicken Loans about a refi of an FHA Streamline loan. I was first told we would not have to bring any money to the closing table, I would be able to skip one house payment and my monthly payment would drop by about $100.00. Sounded good to me! Gave them my credit card number to which $400 was charged and was told this would come back as a credit to us at closing...still sounds good. I provided all requested info for "Underwriting"...OOPS...now we have to bring $600 to closing table and provide proof we have the money for closing. Not real happy about that but provided certified copies of bank stmts. OOPS..now "Underwriting" says we now have to bring $1400 to the closing table because we no longer qualify for the original loan type and they had to find another type of loan for us. No problem they say...since you won't have to make your upcoming house payment of over $1700, you will have the money for closing with some to spare. Once again I'm not happy. Wanting to get this process over with I told them OK but that I wouldn't have the money until October 1st, 2010...OOPS again...I was told on September 22, "If you don't close by September 29th, 2010 and this was the first time I was given a closing date, you will loose your interest rate of 4.75 and your $400.(that Quicken Loans charged to my credit card in JULY, 2010). Over 2 months into the process and I'm out $400 with no recourse and have lost all respect I had for Quicken Loans. I even contacted my credit card company to file a dispute of the charge and they couldn't/wouldn't help me. I would be more than willing to join a class action suit against Quicken Loans and their unscrupulous practices. I would have a hard time living with myself if I made a living cheating people out of their hard earned money knowing they had put so much trust in me...it's a shame they don't feel the same way especially about past customers which I was! After all, a home is the largest expenditure a person will make in their lifetime. SHAME ON YOU QUICKEN LOANS FOR CHEATING SOMEONE WHO HAS DEFENDED YOU IN THE PAST! THOSE DAYS ARE OVER...YOU BET MY $400 ON THAT!!!
