Contacting Quicken loans was the worst mistake i have made. The "Mortgage specialist" who i dealt with was very unprofessional and very nasty. Because i decided to take my business elsewhere to get a better mortgage loan and look out for myself Quicken loans decided they where going to rush all the paper work without my approval and lock in a rate.

They constantly harassed my family by calling even after we told them we were taking our business else where. As a result of this Quicken loans decided they were going to keep my deposit which i think is unethical. People do not take your business to Quicken loans as you can see my experience and other negative complaints you see on this page are proof of bad customer service

    more of Robert's S#$^!
Come on Robert haven't you been reading the posts...Quicken scams people out of their deposits, especially if there is any...and I say any detail that would impede a "Quick" mortgage loan process. They figure it's not worth their time.

I know that you work for Quicken Amanda...so that doesn't count. I was considerate enough not to post your last name, so be considerate enough not to lie. If I'm not mistaken, you work in the programming department right?

    Reverse Tacky
Haven't you learned yet that the BBB is a hollow shell of what it was at one time. All they do is place good reviews for those who donate money to their so called "non-profit" cause. Wake up, they probably called Quicken up played it for them, and had a good laugh.

    Scam-a-lama-ding dong
They do this practice Krista, because they don't believe the loan is good enough for them to meet their profit margins by selling it off to another company. I think that Glass-Steagall needs to be reenacted, so many of these scam companies will fall by the wayside. It has nothing to do with providing any type of decent service that would build by word of mouth, just a quick flip scam, the kind that caused the entire mortgage scandal of which we are still experiencing the repercussions of their sordid practices.

About 12 years ago I refi'd my home from a verible to a fixed by using Quicken Loans - those people were the best I had ever come in contact with - very friendly and helpful all the way through my refi - now that rates are very low I am talking with Quickem Loans again on refi of this same home to get reduced payments and interest and be able to pay the balance off in 10 - 12 years - I believe most of the problems stated in this lengthy page are caused by the  people applying for the loan - if you don't read the print and don't understand it, QUESTION it - don't electronic sign anything you haven't read completely or don't thoroughly understand - you don't give a deposit up front unless it is guaranteed to be refundable if you change your mind, don't qualify, or whatever - if a person is pushy or demanding, just tell them "By" and hang up - if you let a pushy person or demanding person talk you into something, then YOU are the one at fault - I am not standing up for QUICKEN but just trying to educate you - business is business - you control your life, not other people -

    Fingers Crossed
I am currently working with QuickenLoans on a 30 year re-fi (so far so good) and the appraiser is coming out tomorrow. I got this distinct feeling that I made a huge mistake by signing the documents and giving the deposit of $500.00. Should have done my research and I would have never gotten involved with Quicken. I just pray that I am one of the lucky few on here that have had a pleasant experience with them. Only time will tell.

    10 years in mortgage
As you can see the more financially savy individuals have pleasant experiences. First off, if you're purchasing property or refinancing. Be sure have your income and asset documents reviewed and approved before you pay for an appraisal. This way if you're denied due to credit or income the most you will lose is the fee for your credit report. Have a clear understanding of the fees being charged to the transaction. All lenders are governed to be within the neighborhood of the fees that you were initially quoted. If the fees are not within a specific tolerance, the lender will have to eat the increased fees. The lender has 72 hours to redisclose if there is a changed circumstance, such as changes to loan amount or low appraisals. Therefore it is wise to keep your Good Faith Estimate, so you can compare it to your settlement statement. If you're getting a really good rate, you may be paying discount points. If you plan to keep the home for more than 5 years, you will recoup the costs. So dont be deterred by an extra $2k to $4k being added to the costs of the loan. In most cases, the added costs are rolled into the financing. And in a refinance in most cases the lower rate is also reducing your monthly payment. If you feel like the lender is taking advantage of you, keep in mind there's no obligation to complete the transaction. Due to recent government reform, the consumer is protected from increased fees and from over paying for the going rate. So although you may feel like Quicken, Wells Fargo or BofA is trying to take advantage of you, if you just get a better understanding of why the fees are being charged to your loan. You will see that the bigger institutions are your best bet. As for the customer service, if you feel like your specialist is not the brightest crayon in the box, simply ask for someone else who has better communicational skills. More often than not, the specialist you're assigned to can make or break a smooth transaction.

I decided to refi to take advantage of the lower interest rates.  I used bankrate.com and was "referred" to Quicken Loans.  HUGE mistake.

Off the bat I asked them to please email me.  I travel for work and am rarely at home; I do not give out my work or cell numbers to companies.  When I came home I had 10 messages in 4 days from 10 different people.  I then got an email from someone names Steve Marks saying they were trying to reach me.  I responded saying, yes, I know.  Who exactly should I call?  I am happy to discuss my needs if I could be given a single point of contact.  I got no response.

I got another "form" email from Steve Marks several days later saying if I would just call back I would get a $25 Visa Gift Card for my time, even if I did not use them.  I re-sent my original email to him with a note saying obviously this is a "fake person".  Again, no response.

The next week, the calls started again - at least three a day from three different people.  I was home one day and picked up the phone.  I immediately had an operator rattling off a script and asking to get me to one of his "(my state) loan specialists".  Enter Tom.  I told Tom I wanted to know interest and closing costs to decide if they were even competitive with what I had gotten.  I was told to give him my SSN, my income documents, tax forms and investment info THEN he could quote me prices.  I said thanks, but no.  Not how it works.  I had two other companies provide me with this information BEFORE they asked for any of that.  I was not going to send sensitive documents to a company I may not use.  I gave him a rundown of all of what he asked for.  He got snotty with me and said it was not good enough - he needed to run my credit before he would commit to anything. I asked for a ball park - nope.  I rattled off my income, debt, my score between 790 - 810 and still - nope.  I told him no thank you, stop calling me and I will move forward with other options and when could I expect my Visa GC?  Apparently, since they called me I am not eligible.

Two days later I got a survey which I took the time to fill out with the above info.  I then started to get daily calls from Jeff at Quicken to please call me.  I was shocked and thought that it was someone to discuss my survey.  Nope.  Jeff was in their call center and was happy to pass me onto a loan specialist for my state.  I finally cut him off, told them to quit calling me and that I would never use them or even consider them again.  I have already moved onto another company and have my rate locked in.

Bottom line - snaky company and pushy people.  I know what mortgage companies can and cannot provide to people looking for a loan without having to give them your financial history.  I have been looking for four weeks and talked to ~8 different companies.  Quicken is the only one that wanted all of my data before even giving me a rate, and I could not get a rate online from them unless I filled out a bunch of info.  They try to get people who don't know better locked in before they wise up.  Thankfully I did not go for their pushy tactics.

Avoid them.   There are so many local companies that provide much better service.

    More of the Same
So I'm not alone with Mr. Marks. I got phone calls at the wrong time, emails that seemed to go nowhere. Provided information to them to no avail. Glad not alone here.

    They can screw off.

I did a refinance with Quicken Loans in 2010 for a 15 yr loan......it was a rough ride, not the smooth one they start out with.......it did take at least 30+ days to close loan, they do seem to have alot of smooth talking sales people working there, all programmed to take your money......If you use them beware, watch your numbers closely, be financially saavy in dealing with them.....I thought about refinancing again since the rates have dropped so much the past yr, but don't want the headaches....I might not be so lucky next time.......You know they say......BUYER BEWARE for a reason.......look at all your options and finance with the best one........Good luck.

5 closed loans with QuickenLoans on 3 houses with re-fi's.
    0 problems.
Currently in the works for loan #6.

And, no, we're not "wealthy."  In fact, loan #6 may be real tight because we have a house that hasn't sold yet, but we need to move.

In these times of vanishing mortgage wholesale buyers, I'm sticking with what works.  The one time we didn't, with Veterans United Home Loans, we were badly burned.  And the buyers of the property I still have went through a Wells Fargo sub lender -- and now it looks like it isn't going to fly.  After 8 weeks.

Sure, if you have a bad experience, don't go back.  I've just never had anything except positive experiences with QuickenLoans.  If I hit a denial, I'm certain it will be because I simply can't get a loan anywhere.

My banker was Sean Evers. He assured me that I needed to give my credit card information as a good faith deposit and I would not be charged until I okayed it. I was charged $500 right off the bat and when I called to dispute it and ask why, he was rude and told me that was protocol. His initial rates for me changed and increased after he got the $500. He persistently called my home, cell and sent emails multiple times a day after I had expressed my father had passed away and I would get back to him. This place is filled with uneducated, crude morons who are only looking out for their commission checks.

We just closed on a VA refi through Quicken Loans. All went smoothly; took less than 8 weeks from the first contact to getting the loan closed with some cash out.
This was after our local bank, which had our mortgage for the past 15 years, decided we weren't a good enough credit risk to give us a fixed rate VA refi. This was after we had paid our mortgage on time every month for 15 years!
    Quickens customer service was excellent.
They would always contact us promptly after I contacted them with a question.
Getting a mortgage can be a complex and daunting process. If you're new to the game, get a knowledgeable friend to help you evaluate all your options. We chose Quicken based on their top rating the past few years and we were not disappointed!

    Another Sucker
Another common-sounding experience here.  Wanted to refi, have good credit, etc.  Sent in all requested docs, got approved, locked in a rate of 3.50% with no points.  Sounds great I thought.  They sat on the app for 8 days then CANCELLED the loan application, saying the bank statement I provided wasn't sufficient.  No calls, no emails, no notice that my bank statement didn't meet their criteria.  (I gave them a copy of my e-statement since I am paperless at my bank.)  Interestingly, the time that they sat on the loan was when rates jumped about half a point.  Guess what?  They tried to entice me back by creating a new loan, complete with a second credit report.  They acted like they were giving away the store with a 3.875% rate.  I called BS.  Next stop is my state bank regulator.  Classic case of bait and switch.  Oh, and they claim they never billed my credit card.  American Express says otherwise.
