Contacting Quicken loans was the worst mistake i have made. The "Mortgage specialist" who i dealt with was very unprofessional and very nasty. Because i decided to take my business elsewhere to get a better mortgage loan and look out for myself Quicken loans decided they where going to rush all the paper work without my approval and lock in a rate.

They constantly harassed my family by calling even after we told them we were taking our business else where. As a result of this Quicken loans decided they were going to keep my deposit which i think is unethical. People do not take your business to Quicken loans as you can see my experience and other negative complaints you see on this page are proof of bad customer service

I can not understand your problem.  My experience has be excellent.  I have changed the length of the loan three times and my closing date twice without quicken saying anything.  Maybe my problem is I have good credit and equity in my home.

Did you not investigate prior to agreeing with the company that they are (not a bank), that they sell almost 99% of their loans outright.  I says all over the paperwork that they have the right to do so.

    Still waiting
I'm not really complaining. As I said I've used them 3 times and been very happy! I'm back for my fourth time. The difference is this time they keep asking for more and more documents and I've been stuck at step 3 for 2 weeks. It could be the problems the mortgage industry is going through and they are just being overly cautious. I have excellent credit and they told me I'm over qualified for the mortgage I've requested. I'm putting down 20% and the appraisal knocked another $10k off the price. Just not happy with the waiting and them keep coming back wanting more doc's. I came back to them because I loved the service and the way it worked for me before! They take my calls and answer every e-mail without any problems. Just ready to move on to closing and stop all the requesting of more documents. I'm just wondering if anyone else is having the stuck at step 3 problem.

I must be the lucky one.  I just closed a mortgage refinance with quicken about an hour ago.  The service was great, from the loan rep. to the appraiser right up to the legal department.  I changed my mind about the term of the loan three times and all they did was help me and answer all my questions.  I must surely be lucky(for once).  I would and will highly recommend them to anyone. And by the way, my 500 deposit for an appraisel was refunded at the end of the loan.

can not understand why you are having a problem getting past stage 3.  I was suppose to have closed on the 20, but because I decided to change loan terms from a fifteen year to a ten year refinance, we rescheduled it for the 21.  The rep. came on time, was here fore thirty minutes and left with my loan unoffically closed.  I still have a three day rescind option until the 24.  Everything went smoothly without any problems(so far).  So i quess what I am saying is that I was lucky.  I hope you will be too.

Thank you for your information re: Quicken Loans.  I just experienced the same scam (sigh) but took your advise and submitted a complaint to both the BBB and FT.  Hopefully something will be done soon so others are not victims.  Best Regards and thank you again!

Thank-you so much, penny, I was about to consider continuing with Quicken. But Jameel was badly getting on my bad side even with his 3 ph. calls,  arrogant and pushy.  Thank God , i haven't gone farther than asking what they would offer me.  i'll nip this right in the bud now.  Thank-you so much again...

I do not know what type of idiots are writing on this web site, but as far as I am concerned they truly must be a rare type.  I have just completed a refinance with Quicken loans.  May I say that I have never spoken to a better group of people in my 56 years on this planet.  They we extremely helpful from the start, even after I changed my loan (3) different times and changed my closing date twice.  Whoever I spoke to answered my questions honestly.  When people were sent to my house, they showed up on time and did what they were supposed to do.  I would highly recommend this company to anyone interested in refinancing.

just more of the same: they are a very scam oriented business backed by shady corporate liars and lawyers-best advice is to avoid them totally and don't fall for their friendy initial approach

This is for Brian.  Are you an idiot?  I have already written on numerous websites how impressed I am with Quicken loan.  I still can not believe thatanyone would use the excuse that they are a scam oriented business.  They are a mortgage broker, they make money by closing loans ands getting their closing cost fees.  Maybe if people would take the time to investigate before accusing, they might find out the truth.  If you(as a borrower) are honest and do not try and hide information, I am sure you too will be happy with quicken loan.

Got approve then when I saw the settlement statement I was shock to see $2141.37 for disount fee I was never told about. Appraisal was low $130000 but only owe $87736.25, so I had the 20% down payment. Was told they give me that back in cash but I see no paper showing that. I know they got my $500 which they make some excuse to keep. This is getting shady by the minute. They said I will get that $2141.37 back but contract was already done is why they giving cash back. Well now they said they only give $500 of it back which is what I gave them from the start..What a con artist...Two days before signing I back out and glad I did. I got their contract in mail and the big envelope that only the person they sending to my home to sign is suppose to look at it..OMG they change everthing..Had two different loan notes on payment. I wrote FTC and BBB..Glad my feeling on this company kick in but still lost the $500 but my credit card company is looking into it..

juast read your message.  My discount fee was 4200 dollars, but that is a 2.50%fee for getting a low interest rate.  I have reviewed other loan companies and their own discount fee is within quickens range.  You must understand that unless you are lookign to sell within a short period of time after you purchase a new loan, it is worth paying points to lower your total monthly payments.  The only thing you usually get back at closing is the 500 deposit you first gave them as a good faith investment.  If you think they are unreliable thats what the 3 day waiting period after closing is for. They are not forcing you to take the loan.

I asked specifically if they held the loan or sold it off. The Quicken loans agent told me that they are not a "broker" and that they hold the loans as they have a big pool... This does not seem to be true.

Sorry guy, I just had a very similar experience to the ones stated here.  I won't generalize about all people that work for the company but, based on the two "gentlemen" that dealt with me and my husband-you couldn't pay me enough to ever deal with the company again.  Peace of mind and respect for others still count for something in this world. Quicken loans should make that part of their precious "policies".

I got my $750 back, after e-signing the documents, of course it took several very rude conversations and the agent hanging up on my husband.   I called and emailed both the mortgage specialist and his supervisor with my request for a refund.  Stick to your guns, be as relentless as they are about keeping your money, especially if you didn't sign anything.  Good luck.

    Jermaine,
It's a funny thing but, I closed on a loan with another bank and my home appraised significantly higher than Quicken should have had me believe. You have to admit, too many people having the same experience to deny something is going on.

Here's my advice to anyone looking to refinance.  Call your current lender.  They may just work their butt off to keep your business.  Mine did, a lower interest rate, cash out and my payment was only about $40 higher each month.  And no, I'm not a disgruntled employee, I haven't been fired from Quicken Loans or any of their associated companies, and I'm not insane.  I'm just a stay at home mom looking out for my family and tired of being kicked around by companies that try to squeeze out every bit of money they can from consumers who struggle to make ends meet.

Somebody ought to report those scum bags to the FTC. They stole 750 dollars from two weeks when I tried to refinance. They told me I had to deposot 750 dollars right away to "lock" the 4.345% interest rate. I am fighting them now to see if I can get my money back. Their employes "Ebony", "Christine" Are not their real names. I hope somebody blow this thieves up one these days.

Please do not do business with Quicken Loans. They are not a legitimate business and their employees (Chrsitine, Ebony, Darnelle, Jamal, ect) are not the real names of those scam artists employees. They stole $850 from me when I tried to refinance. I was told that I must deposit that amount to "lock up" the rate and that I would get the money back when I "close". I have been trying to get to get my money back.

If you have been scammed by that "company", please call your state attorney general, file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, a branch of the US Justice Department, file a complaint with the better business bureau.

I hope somebody blows the thieves up. Those people have no shame and no remorse. Stay away from them.
