Contacting Quicken loans was the worst mistake i have made. The "Mortgage specialist" who i dealt with was very unprofessional and very nasty. Because i decided to take my business elsewhere to get a better mortgage loan and look out for myself Quicken loans decided they where going to rush all the paper work without my approval and lock in a rate.

They constantly harassed my family by calling even after we told them we were taking our business else where. As a result of this Quicken loans decided they were going to keep my deposit which i think is unethical. People do not take your business to Quicken loans as you can see my experience and other negative complaints you see on this page are proof of bad customer service

I must admit, at first I was a little nervous to apply for a loan through the telephone and Internet. Unlike other transactions I have done over the phone/Internet like QVC, E-Bay, and booking a 6 thousand dollar dream vacation for my husband and I, my mortgage was a bigger commitment. After a few days of searching on-line and talking to an array of mortgage guys ranging from folks that sounded young enough to be my kids age, the pushy New Yorker,  being promised the world, and talking to people who didn’t even know how to spell mortgage let alone handle my mortgage.
I then came in contact with a gentlemen named Don Grabow from Quicken Loans who was extremely informative, upfront and very friendly. He answered all of my questions and concerns and even returned my calls on a weekend. I cannot think of one profession that returns calls on a weekend unless its life threatening but Quicken Loans is one of a kind.
Now this is not my first time refinancing so I familiar with the process and I am aware of hidden costs and fees. This is not my first dog and pony show per say.
Quicken Loans executed everything that they promised to do for me from day one. I saw all my documents within ten minutes after giving a 500 dollar deposit to lock in my rate which was given back to me at closing. My rate was locked, none of the costs changed, and  the process was so easy. The closing took place at my home and I must admit that this was the greatest experience that I have ever had with a lender. Their whole staff is professional and very efficient. I have since then referred all my friends and family to Don Grabow at Quicken Loans as I know that they will receive the same honesty and integrity that I did. I would advise any who is looking to refinance to call Quicken Loans as there is a reason why they are #1.

I too had a very easy loan process with Quicken Loans.  We did all of the paperwork via the web until the closing.  The process was very simple.  We did the VA-streamline loan.  Our loan officer and the rest of the team were very professional.  It saved me money.

You probably had a low appraisal or you lied about your income. Quickenloans is a very well like company throughout the industry and there principles are extremley high. Im sure Forbes didnt ranked them #1 for being shady. I would recommend them to everyone.

Quicken Loans is a great company and I had a wonderful experience with them. Im not sure why or what happened with some of these other people but I'm sure it was because their appraisal came in low or their income was over inflated from the get go. Quicken is ranked very high and federally regualted.
Sometimes people go a little too far b/c they are mad and go off slandering people.

Folks, you realize that you can Google "wholesale mortgage rates" to get a feel for wholesale mortage rate (20% down,  for the day, not to imply that you can get that rate, but I would be surpised if you could get substantially below it.  Looking at Mike's May 3 posting, assuming that he accurately portrayed his rate at 4.25% looks like a fantastic deal.  The wholesale rate (and Quicken is not giving the wholesale rate) for the 10 preceding Fridays ranged from a low of 4.535% to a high of 5.060%.  Granted, there are daily flcuatuations and spikes and we don't know the exact rate on the day of his quote.

BTW, most mortgage brokers quit anwering my calls and emails when I start quoting the daily wholesale rates to them.

Thanks so much for the information, and you are so right. I wish more could be done, 20-20 or 60 minutes would be great. Lucky for me, I did not go through the whole process with quicken loans. I felt something was off, and after being asked for a deposit of $400.00 and even signing paper work, did a little investigation. I found 216 bad complaints against this company just on one website, and it even mentioned names such as Jon Quigely, which was whom I had encountered. Mr. Quigely was very very nice, but it just seemed like he was trying to hard to have to much in common with me and win me over. In addition, I found all the complaints and just closed the account that the $400.00 was suppose to be comming out of, luckly the money had not been applies at that point. I hope more people read these types of stories and stay away from QUICKEN LOANS out of Michigan. This is a SCAM.....

THE PERSON THAT NEEDS TO WAKE UP IS YOU... You may be the exception to the rule, but I am not an ex employee, nor a mad consumer that had their home appraised low. I am just a person trying to get the correct information and if you google: quicken loan complaints, over 216 bad compliants all saying the same thing came up on just one webiste and there are more out there. Those are all ex employees? I don't think so.... Anyway, everything started off fine for me, but after reading all the compliants, it is not worth going with a company like this, there are many more fish in the sea with good names and quality loans, why take that chance?

Sorry Robert I wasn't going to post my experience with Quicken Loans but afte reading your misinformed statement I could not keep quiet. You stated that they are a mortgage broker but as I was told by the gentleman, and I use that term loosely, who i was dealing with at Quicken Loans, when I told him I decided to use Brightpath Mortgage instead of Qicken loans and he asked if they were a broker and I said yes I think they are, "Well we're a direct lender. As if this one Statement was supposed to make me forget that he wanted $400 deposit, which he told me is like earnest money when you buy a house and from my experience earnest money is non refundable, to get the process started, and I was ready to do it because the rate was good not the best I had been quoted but the closing costs were the lowest and he seemed to be very nice and up front with me and I felt he was trustworthy until I told him I would have to call my wife and talk to her about spending the $400 and I would call him back in a few minutes. He bagan talking very fast and stuttering and tried to use some lame psychology on me saying it would be ok with my wife since we had already discussed refinancing to save money and after all that is what I have done for you by lowering your payment over $100 a month so whats that credit card number and I'll get this started for you. I told him he was right that we had discussed the refinance to lower the payments but not the $400 dollar expense so I will call my wife and get back to you in a few minutes. Then he said whats a number to reach your wife at and I will call her and conference her in so I can answer any questions she has so give me credit card number and I will conference your wife in. I then asked him why he had a problem with me calling my wife to discuss this privately with her and he backed off and said ok you call your wife and I will call you back in 30 minutes, luckily it took an hour for him to call me back as I had time to call my wife and tell her about the little scam they were trying to pull and to call Brightpath back and tell them to start my loan application process with the rate the quoted me earlier in the week. Then the guy from Quicken Loans called me back and I told him I didn't feel comfortable with him doing business and I was going to use Brightpath. That's when he asked me if they were a broker and informed me he was a direct lender. Then he asked me what the rate was I told him it was .25% lower than what he quoted me then he asked what the closing costs were i told him the were $2700. He said my closing costs are only $1500. Which was a lie he had already told me i was getting a refund of my FHA MIP of about $1500 that he would put toward closing costs and bring them down to $1500 and it would be another $1500 to fund escrow so it would be $3000 in total and it was originally about $5100. HUH! I can't figure this math out no matter how I run the numbers. Any way he said if I had a problem we needed to talk and figure our differences out so we could get my loan process going. He asked if the fee was a problem I said yes and the fact that you didn't want to let me talk to my wife about it first I don't want to do business with you and I hung up on him. I really felt like he was a desperate lover trying to save a failed relationship as was later confirmed by the number of times he has called back and I didn't answer. Another side note I was trying to get an FHA Streamline which requires no appraisal no credit check and that is what I keep reading everyone says the deposit is for so why did I need to give a deposit for something that didn't need to be done and he also told me we needed to hurry up and get this application done fast because the FHA Streamline program was ending November 13, 2009. I was talking to him November 9, 2009, and I found it strange that none of the other mortgage companies I had talked to in the past few days, about 3 of them, had mentioned that to me. So I decided to do a little research the FHA Streamline has been around since the early 1980's and on November 17, 2009 the qualifications for a streamline are going to be made slightly stricter. So numerous lies trying to get me to make financial decisions without my wife and charging for a service others do for free and high pressure sounds like a scam to me, I wish my rich Nigerian uncle were still alive then I would just borrow the money from him instead of waiting for it to be deposited into my banking account.

Oh Please I went physically into your call center to talk to someone, they told me no one was there, contact MI office! Every name I had from our business with you "no longer work there". I finally got a person to talk to. Your rep ripped off a 90 yr old veteran...bait and switched after telling his son one set of terms and then making the 90 yr old sign another! Don't hide behind email and fake names!

I want to notify other people to stay away from Quicken Loans!  They do not live up to the expectations they tell you and their interest rate is not that great either.  I should have stayed with a local bank and saved myself all of the stress and aggravation.
Brett the mortgage banker I had said that Quicken Loans closes loans on average in 20-25 days.  My loan is going on 60 days and is no where near being closed.  Be aware because the sales pitch is full of fast talking with nothing behind it.  They do not stand up to their promises and look for ways to intentionally stall the loan.
Take my advice and stay away.

Amazing. I did not realize I had dodged a bullet. I called Quicken Loans because they advertised very competitive rates on Bankrate.com. When I asked about rates for a refinance, I could not get a straight answer. That alone should have been a warning. All they wanted was enough information to do a credit inquiry, without giving rates at all. The closest they would come was "about...". When I asked why they could not give me a rate, given house value, credit rating, size of loan, and zip code they got hostile and started denigrating all other mortgage lenders, telling me that they were experts and I should do what they said, other nonsense. The conversation was so bizarrer I thought I must have encountered a telephone rep on a very bad day. So I called back and got a different person. Same treatment. At that point. I gave up and went with another lender. Better rate, and professional behavior. I suppose I should be thankful that the reps were so bad that I did not pursue the question further.
