Scott, one of the messages below gives a list of numbers that have shown up on one person's CallerID.  I used reverse lookup to investigate a few of them.  Most give no listing, but one was some poor girl named Nikki Smith in Washington DC.  The 800 number in the list traces back to Verizon.

Just out of curiosity, Former Employee, are you all really named Rachel?

Just got another one of these scammers and this time the message said, "this will be your LAST call that we'll give you!  You're missing out on reducing ALL your credit card debt down to 6% interest!  This is your last courtesy call."

    PROMISE?!

The astoria, or number just called.  A different number called last week and when I said I was on the do not call list they immediately hung up on me.

When I get a chance, I'll call them from my google account (if they call the google number back, they get a 'not in service' message) and see what kind of fun I can have. I'm a pretty big fan of harassing telemarketers. I used to get angry with them in the 90's, but then I made a sport of it and since DNC, I haven't had much opportunity... Lol!

Anyone clear on how to utilize Google Voice to forward calls to from a specific number (mine) to another specific number (503-468-5531).  I'm pretty sure it can be done, but I don't know that I will take time to do it.

There is plenty of technology we should be putting to work. For me it's taking the time to figure it out.

By the way, I felt grossed out and somehow shamed about the "we have sent you numerous reduction offers to your residence" and "this will be your last courtesy call" BS. Like I forgot to pick up my kid from school or something.

The best way to stop A** wipes like this is to be prepared, which is easy since they ask you to press one to talk to a rep. When the rep answers, I'll always shout an ANGRY, LOUD and FAST "[***] you stop calling me"! before they can hang up. Seems to work better than everything else for all of these type of calls. As to the real card member services folks (there is one!) they are a BIG bank and if their folks keep getting cursed out MAYBE they will join in and try to get the scammers busted. In my dreams.

I get calls from thee guys at least once ever week and it is not uncommon to get multiple calls per day from them.  I've requested they take my name off their lists, when I can get though to a person, they just laugh at me.  I've also, when available, pressed the option to remove our information from their database.  All of our phone numbers are registered in the "Do No Call" list and I renew them yearly, but that has not deterred these people in the least!

Today's most recent: 503-468-5531 with no way to be remove from the database.
Time: 11:36AM on 15-DEC-2011 as recorded by my Verizon cell phone.

    I just received a call from (503) 468-5531
for the second time today, this last one was at 9:15 p.m. so I waited to speak with someone then screamed at them and thanked her for calling and waking my children up this late, her response was ok whatever and hung up on me.  Someone needs to make these people stop.  I too have filed complaint after complaint.

There actually IS a credit card company called "Cardmember Services" it's the company my bank uses: "Anchor Bank" I tried calling my bank's "cardmember service" once in response to this call saying my interest rate can be lowered, they said that someone else is using their #'s and name to try and rip off people... they have NO affiliation to these scammers.... I wonder why they're not doing anything about it though...

It's an easy fix. Use a low limit credit card. Give them your info, follow through, like you're another idiot getting scammed. Once you hang up, call your bank. You'll be able to get them that way, your card is insured, and bank lawyers are [***] when it comes to scams. Follow the money and you'll find the source.

I got called by "Rachel" from 503-563-0168.  (Many hits in Google.)

FTC has gone after "Rachel", aka a company called "Asia Pacific", and 2 individuals, in May and June of 2010:

    http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2010/06/asiapacific.shtm

    http://www.ftc.gov/os/caselist/1023060/index.shtm

However, the FTC action appears to have been not completely effective, to say the least.

I am morally opposed to the death penalty, but some circumstances shake ones beliefs, you know?

I got a call from the same number.  This is the third time.  I've pressed "1" and then ask to be removed and they quickly hang up.  I'm thinking of contacting my congressman.  Any other ideas?

I have been getting call from Rachel at Card Member Services for a few years now. I have not got them to stop. But I have found out that this company is not here in this country. I wish our Goverment would please help put a stop to scams like this. After all we pay taxes for the Goverment to protect us. But all they do is spend a taxes in other country to tell them what to do. Please someone help us.

So how do we get them to Stop? I have talked to them and as repoerted, they just hang up on you wnen you ask them to be removed. I have hit nine a couple of times and just get a double click. Somtimes other "Spam Bots" say "Thank you, we will remove your number" , I haven't tried #3 Yet,  but so far, nothing has removed me.

This has been going on since 2008 (the earliest reports i can find). The FCC,FTC and whatever other government acronyms you can report them to and ask for justice are just as helpless as us common folk. They have no course of action as they have no clue where the calls are coming from. I am sure the "company" is portraying itself as a legitimate business to it's employees(callers). The callers are just following a script and a protocol. They are instructed to follow a set of guidelines and if the call deviates from that they are instructed to disconnect. They are just information collectors, one of them one day will grow a conscience and do the right thing and tell the authorities, and end this whole thing. That is, if it is only one group that is responsible. There is a high possibility that there are numerous operations running with the same MO. So my advice is if you are sitting at home when they call, have a little fun with them. Give them false information. This will eventually get under their skin when they see that you are wasting their resources and they are not making any money and they will eventually leave you alone.
