I purchased a sofa and chair from a furniture store about 18 months ago. I chose the England brand furniture because I was told about their exceptional quality. Unfortunately, the fabric and cushions are wearing pre-maturely. The fabric is tearing and the cushions are loosing their shape. England refuses to acknowledge the tearing because the 1 year warranty has expired. They are looking into the cushion problem. I never had this problem with any other brand of living room furniture I purchased over the last 35 years.

    Stick with the Flexsteel.  You will replace England Furniture within a year.  Worst furniture I ever owned.

    I also purchased a england sofa a couple of years ago. the first day the threads on the cushions ripped, and within a month the cushions became distorted. The store in aberdeen nc, high point interiors, closed. i am shopping for new funiture now, never england again.

    Thank you for the warnings.  I am looking at England furniture right now and was thinking of ordering over $3,000. worth.  I am feeling sad because I love the country fabrics I picked out, but it is not worth it if the furniture is going to fall apart!  I will look elsewhere.

    Well, glad I checked this board out before making a purchase. We were going to buy an England dual reclining sofa, love seat and chair set this week and had it set up for delivery,  but after looking at the all the Warranty issues we decided to go look at the Flexsteel sofas today. We will be purchasing two of their sofa's this week. A little more money but worth the piece of mind and ability to have any warranty issues quickly resolved.

    You're weak man.. stop crying. Its still good furniture. Don't worry... we still sell tons of England at the store I work at and we have a great service team. England is good quality and you shouldn't worry about the small handfull of people who probobly have 6 kids beating it up. I guess flexsteel is better than England so you can be a little upset that even the original England can't top them. But you didn't start it so don't sweat your last name and don't defend your name. No ones going to ask you if your the owner... PLEASE... hahhaha

    I really enjoy reading all the horror stories I see about England products. I have been in the furniture business for years and have fewer issues with England than any other manufacturer. Most people don't know that these same people who are complaining on this website are the same people who complain about their steak not being cooked correctly after they have eaten half of it. England offers a Great product and always wants to take care of their customers. I have sold every kind of furniture product there is, and England ranks in the top 3. All these people say they have had their cushions replaced 2 to 3 times. How 'bout that. Most manufacturers wouldn't even give the time of day. My advice to those few that complain- be thankful that England replaces your cushions and actually sends out a tech to look at your problem. And secondly, good luck in finding a product that feels like a pillow, fabric that wears like iron, a frame sound as a brick wall and costs $200. That's why companies go out of business. Everyone feels they are entitled to a new sofa when it feels alittle bit different than when they first bought it. Man, am I glad you don't shop in my store. Thank you for that!

      Wow, how scathing and judgmental of you. Just an FYI for you, we had in the late 1990's purchased England furniture and it went through 3 children, 4 dogs and when we sold it 16 yrs later it still looked like new. The furniture wore like iron and was very comfortable. Never had any issues at all with it. We ABSOLUTELY loved it! BUT........because of our experience with England we decided to purchase it again. The children are grown up now have families of their own and it is now just the 2 of us. Our new purchase of England furniture has been horrible! As people have stated the cushions have gone flat within a few weeks. Our love seat sits so low you almost touch the floor when you sit in it your knees are almost up to your chest you sink in so much and the back is collapsing. We are not big people by any measure and this started to happen within weeks of having it in our home. We contacted the store we bought it from and they replaced the whole love seat. Kudos to them! No tech came to our home to inspect the furniture. The replacement is no better than the first one. We were told the damage was from abuse! We laughed out loud! Our last set lasted 16-17 yrs, through kids, dogs and the years but this new one can't last 2 weeks with 60 year olds!  I have every right to complain! It is my money I am spending and I am entitled to expect that my furniture should last more than 1 yr ! Boy, am I glad that I don't shop in your store....when it is your money you are spending and it happens to you, I would love to hear what you would have to say about it. Unless you are a spoiled rotten young man who has never had to work for anything or you did buy it for dirt cheap, it should mean a lot to you to get the quality you were told you were getting for the hard earned money you had to shell out. Let us know where you work so we will avoid it and not be judged for expecting better from an American made company!

      Shouldn't have to ask for new cushions at all if they were made correctly in the first place! England--NEVER AGAIN!!

    Thanks so much for your insight.  I really like a sofa and chaise lounge that we found at a local store.  I'm thrilled that a 10-year warranty is provided!  Our local family furniture store in Indiana highly recommended it- even with our two kids and four animals.  Thanks for your trust in this manufacturer.  I can't wait to order my furniture- in the fabrics I get to pick!!

    I am in the market for a new living room set. Mine is over 34 years old and is Flexsteel. I saw an England sectional that I liked but after all these comments, I will be going with having it reupholstered by the Maine Correctional Center Prison who do an outstanding job and as long as you purchase quality fabric it will last for years. My mind is made up after reading these posts. Thank you all.

    I am one of the many who have stopped here to look and see what others say about this furniture before purchasing it!  I fell in love with a sofa and love seat at the local store in Nazareth, Pa.  The salesman said I could buy the floor models- at an even better discount- and would have done so-
    We have a Clayton Marcus now- it is 6 years old but the cotton fabric wore out from teenagers and dogs.  The cushions are fine- think I will consider re-upholstery- or perhaps another Clayton Marcus.

    [***], [***], [***].. some people just have nothing better to do, some are con artist trying to get something newer or for nothing, some people can't even write or spell in their complaint, many probably do abuse the furniture, and a few are probably legitamate complaints.  What about the hundreds of satisfied people that buy England furniture that you never hear from. I have read many or most of these complaints about England furniture and most of them seem to be about stitching or cushions.  I just wonder.....hmmm... how do these people REALY treat this furniture? I would say most of the complaints DO NOT have the facts, particulars or information for the consumer to get a good picture of what the whole story really is so that a new purchaser could make a good sound decison on whether to buy or not. Are there kids and/ or dogs involved, is the furniture jumped on, rolled on, used as a bed rather than NORMAL everyday sitting, what is the weather and tempurature climate, humid, damp, dry, etc., weight and size of the people using the furniture. If you are going to complain, make the full case.  From what I have seen and read, England Furniture has responded to most of the complaints, evaluated them and then acted, most of the time either repairing or replacing the piece. I will not speak for the independent stores, however England Furniture does seem to care about their customers, because they know that bad rap and lack of repeat business would put them out of business.  I am in the market to purchase new furniture, and I am very close to purchasing England Furniture.

      You should have hit "spell check" before you it send.  You spoke about people not being able to spell correctly, you should take a page from your own book.

    While I think you are alittle harsh, I am not going to disagree with you- it is just difficult for most people today to spend $1000 on something that will wear out in a few weeks- with NORMAL wear and tear.
    Instead of waiting to purchase the $2200 sofa that I want, I have decided to go ahead and buy the ENGLAND sofa floor model for $700 and take my chances.  If it lasts 3-5 years I will be happy.
    But I will be dissapointed if it only lasts a few weeks!
    But it will have been my decision and I will live with it.

    I also have England in both my living room and rec room.  I have had both sets for two years, and i have no complaints.  Friends are very complimentary of the purchase.  
    This site is extremely biased.  England sells over $200 million worth of furniture every year.  If this site represents the small; percentage of  customers that haven't been taken care of, then it sounds like a great brand to me.  Simply put...Get over it people.  Most likely, the failure is due to mis-use or unrealistic expectations.

    I have been in furniture sales for over 4 years and have worked with and sold England for as long.  In the 4 years I have only recieved one cushion complaint and it was taken care of in 2 weeks(shipping time) and I personally went out and replaced the new cushion core myself.  I feel that most of these reviews must be coming from customers who have purchased from large furniture chains that have minimal service skills and only work at getting the sale and the other half might be those that just complain and have never thought to call and file their claim.  My family and friends have personally purchased Englandfrom me and have had no complaits on the warranty nor the product.  I personally am looking to order a set in the coming year.  For those customers that have had problems with their fabrics I would like to know if they checked to see what the fabric was made of in the first place, if it contained a high percentage of cotton or rayon you will see some balling or stretching of the fabric. The best wearing fabrics out there right now are polyester, olefin, and acrylic.  I would be proud any day to have a customer purchase England brand furniture.
