I purchased a sofa and chair from a furniture store about 18 months ago. I chose the England brand furniture because I was told about their exceptional quality. Unfortunately, the fabric and cushions are wearing pre-maturely. The fabric is tearing and the cushions are loosing their shape. England refuses to acknowledge the tearing because the 1 year warranty has expired. They are looking into the cushion problem. I never had this problem with any other brand of living room furniture I purchased over the last 35 years.

    Ms. Johnston,
I encourage you to use a company website for further communication.  The webstie address is www.englandfurniture.com and we will be happy to assist.  The 7200 series cushions are designed with a dual layering.  The top layer is the pillow top with fiber fill and a lofty appearance.  The bottom layer is the block cushion core.  Both have zippers for easy access.
    thanks,
    Philip

I to am looking to buy new furniture.  I went to my local retailer and inquired about a England sofa and love seat.  After reading some of these complaints I'm not so sure about purchasing England.  I was also told that Lazy boy makes England but I see thats not so.  I have seen very high quality furniture made by Marshfield and Flexsteel and think it might be better to spend more now and save the headaches.  Also the feet on the England set I looked at were plastic, do you think they could be any cheaper?

I wish I would have read this web site before buying my England Furniture.  I bought my England Furniture a year ago and I HATE IT!  The cushions on the couch fall on the floor everytime I sit on the sofa.  I will NEVER buy this product again and I would be willing to have a fire outdoors at my house to get rid of these useless pieces of furniture!!!  Anyone want to join me????

My husband and I bought a sofa and love seat a year ago.  We have the same problem with the cushions being out of shape and flattened.  The cushions also have runs on both sides of all the cushions on the couch.  The back of the love seat also has a picked place and a run starting on it.  The dealer that sold it to me said it was from "abuse".  We are trying now to get something done about it.

    Good Morning Mark,
I went shoppping for a sectional yesterday and I ended up putting money down on the 7300 model without the recliners. I got home and found this complaint website and am now having second thoughts on my purchase and am thinking about canceling it. I thought I would contact you before I did that. Most of the complaints are for seams tearing, fabric stretching and the cushions losing shap and flattening. I know I have the warranty but some people state that they started having these problems soon after purchase. I would hate to spend the money and then have the same issues. I always believed that the England Furniture name spoke for quality. Do you think that it has now gone down hill due to Lazy Boy taking over? I am a person that gets right to the point so I would not ask you this question, If it were you going to buy the sectional I have perchased would you still purchase it or would you go with a different brand? I appreciate you taking the time to help me with my concern.

We bought an England sectional in 2006.  It has ripped in several places.  The cushions also flatten and the footrest on the recliners do not stay in.
We bought the guardian protection plan with the furniture.  They sent a technician out and he said that this was not good furniture to purchase.  He said flexsteel is a good name.  Guardian has just sent me a letter offering to replace the sectional.  Hopefully I am not dreaming.  Will let you know.

It's easy to get a skewed vision of any product when the website begins with "complaint".  Of course the only people to write in are the one's that have complaints.  Have any of you considered the England purchuser's that do NOT have complaints?  I am one of them.  I bought my England couch 7 years ago from Pittsford, MI store.  This couch has never had a problem, my friends tell me it is very comfortable.  The best part is the fabric that never gives out.  I have cats that love to claw their way around the bottom - not a tear in it!  It is getting time to replace the cushions but what would anyone expect?  It's used for sitting and napping.  I'll buy England again.

I also have a 17 year old England sectional with 2 recliners and a pull out sofa in it. It needs to be replaced now but was the most comfortable piece of furniture we've ever owned and completely held up to raising 2 kids and dogs.

I just purchased a new reclining sofa, loveseat and recliner and a half from a local retailer and again we are going with England. We can't wait for it to get here.

It is hard to find quality furniture at the price anyone seems to be willing to pay. If you step up and understand the more you pay, the better the product we would not need websites like these.

How much do you think a person should pay to get a quality sofa? I looked at an England sofa today.  It was priced at a thousand bucks.  That isn't what I consider a cheap sofa.  You can find sofas for $500, and no, I wouldn't expect much for that price.  But a person should be able to count on pretty darned good quality for a thousand dollars!

I was shopping for furniture today and found what I thought was a great deal on an England Sofa.  After reading these complaints, I think I have second thoughts!!!!  I know I'm going to have some tough questions for my sales lady when I go see her on Sunday.  The great deal was because the fabric has been discontinued, maybe I know why now.  Thanks for the information.

My brother and I purchased a new England sofa in March, 2 months after the initial purchase I noticed a tear on the seam of the back fabric and the cushins are out of shape and lost about 50 percent of the size.I contacted the retailer, and they sent out a tech to tack pictures to determine wha the issue is. After playing tag with the company they contacted me today and advised me they would replace the sofa due to its state, but only this once. After this one time England will no longer honor their warrenty. I find this un acceptable, the furniture is not misused and I take care of it well. I am considering contacting the AG about this issue. Don't buy England unless You want headaches and poor quaility.

2 things!  One, I think the writer who stated that you will get a lopsided view of England furniture when viewing complaints is correct.  However, just the fact that there are so many complaints concerns me (and they seem to be fairly consistent in regards to seats flattening - which is why I am looking for new furniture).  Two, you do get what you pay for, and it seems that the reasonable price of the England sectionals is misleading - I will look into other brands and thank all who made their complaints available.  It seems to be a more reliable way of getting information.  The salesperson never said anything about the downsides, and I specifically asked about the cushions.

I too bought a loveseat, and a sofa with recliners at both ends, and a chair that reclines from furnitureland in Delmar DE. All are England brand.  The furniture was picked up in Oct. of 2008. Within 2 weeks there was distortion and compression of the cushions, My husband said they wouldn"t do anything. But after worsening coditions and the seam coming apart I contacted the store They sent a repairman to evaluate the furniture and told me the furniture after just 10 months has been abused. H e and another rep from Furnitureland informed me I abused the furniture by laying on it and the chair by leaning to One side. If I had been informed the sofa was not made to lay on and that you have to sit squarely on the cushion I would never have bought it. The rep from the store offered to repair the funiture but the same problems are going to arrise in ten more months. Now trying to contact England manufacturers. I don't reccomend England furniture. Never had this problem with any furniture in 32 yrs. Salesman told me this furniture was of a better quality than lAZYBOY.  Not so!  I have a lazyboy sofa in my den that my husband sleeps on every night. It is years old and looks better than the England furniture. Wish I had stuck with Lazyboy.

We bought the "Henley" sofa, Model #6155W, in June of 2006; worst sofa I have ever owned.  Same problems as listed by others here.  The cushions began to deform, the plastic cording poked out through the fabric in several places, and the fabric on both the cushions and the couch has worn through in spots, as well as pilling and runs.  When you sit on the couch, you sink in; no support at all.  The couch we had replaced was a fifteen year old LazyBoy, which looked better at the end of 15 years than this one looked at six months.  Even if the manufacturer were to replace the cushions, the fabric on the rest of the couch, and the lack of basic support, is so bad that it just isn't worth it.  Sadly, England is still selling this piece of junk on their website, renamed the "Conner" sofa.  Avoid like the plague.  I bought into the "Made in America" and "LazyBoy product" sales pitch.  Will never buy another England or LazyBoy product again.

We purchased a mobile home in Florida two years ago.  I am now ready to replace the living room furniture.  While here in Michigan, I went to my favorite furniture store and saw a England sofa that I fell in love with.  Went to the England website and found a dealer close to the city where we live.  My plan was to order the sofa as soon as we got back to Florida for the winter but after reading all the "horror" stories about the cushions, welting etc. I will go back to Flexsteel.  I have had Flexsteel furniture the past fifty years and only end up getting rid of it because I want a new style or fabric.
