I purchased a sofa and chair from a furniture store about 18 months ago. I chose the England brand furniture because I was told about their exceptional quality. Unfortunately, the fabric and cushions are wearing pre-maturely. The fabric is tearing and the cushions are loosing their shape. England refuses to acknowledge the tearing because the 1 year warranty has expired. They are looking into the cushion problem. I never had this problem with any other brand of living room furniture I purchased over the last 35 years.

I posted this review (with more info) in another thread, but felt it was appropriate here, since I just purchased an England sofa:
I received my England sofa today and I will give updates as I spend more time on it, especially since the number of negative reviews on here about England.   As far as I can tell they make good quality mid-priced furniture.  They are also the only manufacturer I know of that offers a 10 year warranty on cushions (lifetime on frame).  Check out their website for some of good information on their company and manufacturing process.  I am anxious to see how my England sofa holds up, especially since I do sleep on my sofa (supposedly bad for sofas).   Since I did a lot of research on the brands I was looking at and found a number of negative reviews on them (Flexsteel, La-Z-Boy & England) I have come to my own conclusion on the negative reviews:  Yes there are people that have issues with all brands of furniture and this can be helpful information but I also feel that these negatives reviews represent such a small percentage of the total sales for these manufactures that you cannot take them as a true indication of a manufacturers quality.   Customer service, maybe, but not quality.   If you choose a model made in China you are probably more likely to have quality issues but if you stick with Made in USA models you will have a better quality product.   Other thoughts; I think when you decide to get leather or reclining furniture you have greatly complicated the process.  High quality leather is expensive.  Reclining sofas are much more complex and will have more issues than a stationary sofa.  A stationary sofa is one piece of furniture, built to function as a single piece of furniture.  A reclining sofa is essentially 3 separate pieces of furniture attached together, which is fine but expect to spend more money to get a high quality reclining sofa (nothing less than a La-Z-Boy or Flexsteel).  If I was to purchase a leather or reclining sofa I would prefer a Palliser, Barcalounger or Klaussner and if I was willing to go into the 3k range then Bradington-Young.
These are just my thoughts after doing a lot of shopping and research.  There are certainly many other good brands out there and would appreciate other's opinions and experiences.

My wife and I purchased a Sofa & Love seat a couple of years ago (England).  Shortly after the purchase I had to have Scope Surgery on my right knee.  Of course, I was on the Sofa in the same spot for a couple of weeks.  The Sofa has colapsed on the end cushion and now you are almost sitting on the flooor.  Last couch we had lasted for years.  This thing is the last England brand I will ever have.

Me too Bert! The cushions collapsed within weeks of our purchase and it is like sitting on the floor!
We are going to get rid of the furniture, to bad it only lasted a year and costs thousands! We hate the stuff! Never again will we buy England! It used to be great many years ago, not any more.

we bought  a sofa and recliner seven years ago in leather (Oakland style) and it still looks brand new. I would buy another England set again, best set we have ever purchased. The only complaint we have is the sofa is very low to get up from.

I've had a england sleeper sofa and matching recliner for about 8-10 years.  The sofa is still holding up well and guests say that it is comfortable to sleep on the pull out bed, which is easy to pull out and close.  I am not real happy with the recliner.  After only 8 months the finish on the pull lever wore off, so it looks very old, but it wasn't.  It is also hard to raise the recliner up with the lever.  After about 5 years, the recliner is leaning toward the side when sat in.  Around the 8th year, a metal wire piece??? is sticking out the back of the chair right through the fabric.  I feel that the set isn't the best quality made, especially the recliner.

Had a England 6 piece sectional with sleeper for 14 years never had a problem sold it in garage sale. Bought flex steel set that's a piece of junk.  England furniture is owned by Lazy Boy.  Look it up.

We've been looking for a sleeper and love seat for a rec room and fell in love with the England furniture. We are not hard on furniture and furniture we have  had in the past has lasted forever. We are just tired of it. We had planned to go back in a few days to order it, but after reading such negative reviews I am having second thoughts. The dealer is very reputable in our area. I might mention these reviews to them.

Damn.  I wish I had done my homework and read these reviews.  Just ordered (Friday) two love seats.  Now I'm really concerned, and I knowi can't cancel out--the retailer already has our $400 deposit.  I'm hoping one reviewer is correct that they now put springs in the cushions, but then I see some reviews from just a few days ago!

I went to Shermans nd they said there is a 10 year warrenty on the cushions? everyone else has only a 2 year warrenty...  Is it really hard for them to replace the cushions if its under warrenty???  Please advise as I was going to place the order on the first of the month

    Don't do it
Ask the sales person when you are buying what would happen if...? Get that in writing. This company uses the words American made and lifetime guarantee. In less than 2 years of minimal use we had some problems. They would have nothing to do with us or the store from where we purchased our $2000.00 plus sofa. Don't do it

I bought a sofa and recliner and I am so sorry I did.  It is the most uncomfortable furniture set I've ever had.  Never Again.

I wish I would have found these reviews before we purchased our England sectionals in Sept 2014. By December the cushions were flattening out and losing their shape. Now in February, only 6 months after the purchase, the corners of the cushions are rolled in and they look terrible. I've unzipped them and tried refluffing the foam with no luck. We spend over $1000 on a 3 piece sectional and it's junk. Would never purchase the England brand again. At the same time we were replacing our couch, we were replacing a 25 year old LazyBoy recliner whose frame had just cracked. After 25 years the fabric and cushions were still in great shape. Thought England being a LazyBoy company we'd have similar quality. Not the case.

I have never sent a poor review on a company, only England furniture, I trusted the warranty and was fooled by this company.

I purchased a sofa from a local furniture store, which said the sofa was a La-Z-Boy sofa. Turns out it was a England Funiture sofa. We have had nothing but problems with the sofa. The pillows sink into the sofa. After sitting in the pillow for awhile, the foam compresses to the point that you feel the springs in the sofa and my mid-thigh rests against the wood frame.  The elbow rest fiber has compressed to where my elbow rest against the wood frame.
After the tech came from the store and replaced the foam, the same issue of compression after sitting for 5 minutes.,
The pillows still sink into the back of the sofa.
Some said that these are common complaints with England furniture. I will never buy another piece of England furniture. !!!!!!!!!!!! Piece of Crap!!!
Think I'll look into Norwalk Furniture.

oh, I wish I would have read about these problems before buying a USA made sofa, loveseat  and chair by England. I was so impressed with how they talked about the company..... wrong information for sure. I have had cushions replaced once so far. the fabric is piling on the chair and sofa. When you sit down, a person can sink to the floor.!!
This sofa is in a home with 2 adults, not everyday children use. my old set lasted 32 years and still has more support than this one has. I'm tempted to have it recovered and bring it back upstairs. here I put off getting a new set and then when I do, I end up getting poor quality.
