I purchased a sofa and chair from a furniture store about 18 months ago. I chose the England brand furniture because I was told about their exceptional quality. Unfortunately, the fabric and cushions are wearing pre-maturely. The fabric is tearing and the cushions are loosing their shape. England refuses to acknowledge the tearing because the 1 year warranty has expired. They are looking into the cushion problem. I never had this problem with any other brand of living room furniture I purchased over the last 35 years.

Do not buy England furniture. We bought a couch, love seat and chair. Waited 2 years to decide to buy it. Took 3 mths  to get it. Within 3 mths cushions broke down.  I called the store we bought it from and they replaced them with the same ones. Was told England would replace cushions with the same ones for the life of the furniture. Big red flag! The day the cushions were replaced they literally began breaking down the same night. I phoned the company we bought it from and was told I would have to pay $35 to replace each cushion with better coils. I called England direct. What a joke...said he never heard of this problem with their furniture and wouldn't do a thing about it. He said their must be a frame problem but "o well". I was appalled when I then read all the reviews of same complaints especially when the store  we bought it from guaranteed this was high quality furniture, nothing but the best. I got the coils replaced and they are much better but the furniture has other problems. I have had my Broyhill furniture for 20 years and it looks like the first day I bought it. The funny thing about all this is that my 4 and 7 year old grandchildren are the only ones that sit on this England furniture daily...and this is what happened??? My advise is to stay far away from England unless you want junk!!!!

To all those who have taken the time to post your experiences with England Furniture, I sincerely Thank You! I am sorry for the headaches you have had to go through in order to give potential first time buyers of this line of furniture the heads up. My husband & I have been trying to find a couch for a while & thought we had finally found the "one". Unfortunately, the "one" turned out to be an England; but, thankfully, because of people like you taking the time to post your misfortune you have steered many away from this company. My heart felt gratitude!!! We have had a Lane reclining sofa & reclining loveseat for 25 years. The quality of these pieces far exceeds what we have seen on the market & we are reconsidering having them reupholstered. It is sad that "Made In USA" does not seem to mean quality as it once did years ago. We are proud when our purchases are made in America, but unfortunately, it seems that "Made In USA" is just bait to snag a hook in the American consumers' heart.

i sell England and lazy boy furniture as well as two 8 way hand tied companies................the name of this is "complaint wire"..........keep that in mind. when ordering England just get the frame upgrade(they also have a innerspring cushion for  firmer feel).....with lazy boy try to get their premier stuff(better cushion cores)...............they are made pretty much the same and better than junk brands........many of the old names are now made overseas and may maintain a small presence in this country.

what i find is that customers want great furniture for half the price of great furniture............there are not considerably better quality companies at lazy boy and england prices....................but there are much worse companies that are priced similarly!

Grow up!....if you want a sofa made like furniture was made 30 or 40 years ago it will cost you double or triple or more than england and lazy boy.............

and i still get many customers returning to buy both england and lazy boy and i hear  few complaints.......

also....when you sell as much furnture as england and lazy boy....thousands of pieces per day.........there will be some problems.

but i have had problems with 8 way hand tied stuff too!

just because you expect 10 to 20 years out of an $800 sofa doesnt mean it will happen. .............it is called reality

I don't remember my parents 40 years ago paying double or triple for their furniture and the quality lasted through raising kids and pets. There is no denying that current furniture choices are junk. They don't last. The cushions sink in and lose their support. My husband has to sit on pillows. I must admit that I have had better luck with my Lazy Boy chair (which I paid 1200.00 for), but 1200.00 is a lot to pay for one chair.

      Hi John,

What brands would you recommend in sectionals for under $3000.?  I like the Lancer style 2690 and Flexsteel "BayBridge" but I don't know that I want to drop that much money as I have 3 teenagers and a dog.

      Thanks,

My England sofa is 15 months old and problems just continue. Within weeks of purchase something went 'pop' inside. Store checked it, found nothing wrong and offered me the used floor model in exchange. Not. The cushions are the spring type but they sink so far into the couch you feel like you are going sit on the floor with the frame hitting the back of your leg. This is due to the very week springs in the frame itself. Now we are getting a strong odor emitting from the sofa that we suspect is from the Formaldehyde used in the pressed word and fabric used to make the sofa. Check out how this Formaldehyde can cause sickness. Learned my lesson, as John says above, I need to grow up, get rid of this England sofa and spend big bucks for a quality sofa. My England sofa is now covered with a plastic tarp which does cut down on the odor but the tarp being brown does not match the room.

Same here.  Thinking of trying those stupid infomercial furniture support slats!  It is embarrassing to have bought "good" furniture. Other family is already replacing theirs cuz it is not good and they got stuffing added to their cushions!

I purchased an England sectional for a little over $2,000.00 in February of 2015.  It's now November and I've been calling the retailer for months because I've had issues with the sectional.  The frame is broken (springs pulled away from it), the fabric is pilling even though I was assured it wasn't an issue with this fabric and the back cushions are sinking ridiculously.  I live alone and am the only person who uses the sofa regularly (so let's say 2-3 hours per day, max).  It looks like it's 10 years old.  The retailer is going to try to "fix it" but really it should go in the junk pile.  I will never purchase England furniture again - I have left messages for England's corporate sales manager and sent an e-mail, so hopefully I'll hear back from them.  Additionally, the throw pillows that I have never even used are coming apart at the seams!  I would definitely not waste your money if considering England furniture.

I bought a England sectional sofa from a local store. The pillows compressed quickly after sitting for 10 minutes. I learned that England's compreesibility is 2.2. Minimal for the standard couch is 1.8 and Max 3.4. Lazy Boy is 2.5 standard.
England's cushions is poor quality compressability. Stay away fro England sofas!!!! Ask for at least 2.5 or higher, preferably 3.0 or better. This will hold up to siting on a sofa and not sitting in a sofa!

We purchased England Corsair Flexteel furniture in 1994.  It still looks great.  Hubby is just tired of it and wants new.  When we purchased it, it came with a lifetime warranty on the frame.  However after reading the above comments sadly it seems their policies/quality have changed.  I'll have to find something else.

Bought a sofa, love seat that had electric recliners in them, and a recliner 15 months ago.  The sofa and love seat have fallen apart, the cushions that we sit the most have dropped down around 10 in. leaving a large gap along your backside and are very uncomfortable to sit in.  The sections are separating and the electronics are starting to pop when we pull out the recliner.  The stand alone recliner is leaning to one side and we have not used it more that a dozen times, the foot rest flies out lifting you feet up into the air and is extremely hard to put down, I have to push the foot rest down the best I can then stand up and kick it in to have it stay.  We have a lifetime warranty and have had the love seat in to be fixed twice now, it is at the factory now when it returns we will send the sofa off.  We do not plan on spending the rest of our lives sending this furniture back to the factory every 6 mo.  We are extremely disappointed in the quality of this furniture and are saving to buy something else.

I guess I will pass on buying the England sectional I'm looking at. I'm starting to wonder if it is possible to purchase quality furniture anymore. I have a Thomas Kinkaide sofa that I have had for a couple years and the cushions have flattened/collapsed and it is now basically junk. I have the same problem with a previous purchase of Southern Motion leather furniture. What happened to the days when our parents had the same couch our whole childhood and it is still in decent shape?

I am reading several complaints against England, so what do you recommend in the $2,000-$2800 price range for a 6 person sectional with custom fabric selection?
I am considering the England Monroe sectional (1430 series) with upgraded frame and coil spring cushions (I was quoted $2100. seems fair)  I am not impressed with Ashley furniture nor can you customize the fabric. Other options but much more expensive are the Lancer Sectional (style 2690 with chaise $3295.,seems well built & nice firm cushions, but fabric selection is lacking/ dated) and the FlexSteel Bay Bridge sectional with chaise at $3695. (high quality features like steel frame & nail head trim on rolled arms).

There does not seem to be a lot good quality midpriced custom options for less than $3000, please recommend other quality brands that won't break the bank and deplete my entire tax return.

These are old complaints.  This is 2016.  Is England brand furniture any good these days, or not?

Hi Linda, not sure about England, some pieces in the store showroom seemed comfortable while othrs seemed to lack cushion support and already showed signs of sagging. I would suggest if you go the England route to ask for upgraded cushions and stronger gauge sinuous springs.

We ended up ordering the Lancer Sectional Style 310 over Presidents Day Weekend $2995. Plus tax and got a nice sale price. I'd rather pay a little more and have a quaility piece of furniture that will last 10 years.

Has anyone had a negative or positive experience with the 2400 Malibu series?  We are looking at purchasing one in leather for $4000.00

I purchased a new england love seat and  couch and paid around 1,600 dollars for them and around five months of having them started having trouble out of them..The cushions started bunching up under the recliners and they changed them but they are doing the same thing again..The whole bottom mechanism had to be changed under one side of the loveseat because it wouldn't open and the handle broke because of it...I will never as  long as I live purchase new england furniture again cause I have had nothing but trouble out of it....The cushions was the problem with my couch and loveseat they will say you have a ten year warranty on the cushions but they don't say you have to pay for the Labour after 1 year to have them put in which is around 50 dollars and hour...
