This scam has been operating here in Ohio for months.  They won't respond to the number on the web.  We are getting electronic messages 2 and 3 times a day.  How  may I get my phone number removed from these people? Karen Inman

I have received 6 calls from Rachel with Card Holder Services in the last 3 days and 1 from her evil twin who didn't identify herself or say what company but it was the same scam.  I'm getting ready to get an AIR HORN from WalMart and make a few of those folks deaf!

He  had recieved at least 7 phone calls this week from people who had been called from this number..He has had no dealings with card services and he said they must have ghosted his phone number. One was no longer in service and the other was 1-206-496-0802. when I called back it said if you no longer want to be contacted press one  Lets see if it works

As long as they don't see my number I'm going to give them a dose of their own medicine and harass the crap out of them!

As with everyone else, same recorded message, different phone number & name ID.  This time caller ID says "pacifictel" and the number is 206-496-0802.  Last month it said "pactel" and was a different number.  Before that the name ID was the name of a state such as "Florida", "Kansas", etc., and before that it was "toll free call", "wireless caller", and others.  Several different phone numbers often showed up under those different names.  They are very proficient at Caller ID spoofing.

These scumbags goal is to get you to reveal your credit card information and your personal information.  What they do with it after that is very likely to cause you enormous grief.

Don't bother attempting to be removed from their calling list.  Pressing any key on your phone merely confirms that your phone number is valid.  I use a device called 'Intelliscreener' to block them - either by number, or name.  It responds with SIT tones to tell the robo-dialer that this is a non-working number.  Unfortunately, this wonderful device is no longer being made.  If you can find a used one grab it!

PS  I really have to laugh at all the people who invoke the DNC list.  Since when did criminals start complying with laws??  The DNC list is honored only by LEGITIMATE companies doing LEGITIMATE business!

I have gotten these calls for the past 2-3 years. Lately I have turned nasty, but that isn.t nice to the poor guy  or gal at the call center, who did not initiate the call, but is only told that the person on the line (you) wants to take part in this fantastic offer. Believe it or not, you may be talking to your neighbor or their son or daughter.
I realized this today when, after pressing the number to talk to a representative (apparently the connect number varies by locale) the phone  rang and then switched and rang again and then was answered. I remembered that this happened before, but quickly enough that I didn't realize it until today.

    Here is what is happening:

    1) Call originates from a call-out number only through an exchange
    2) Pressing 1, 9, 3 or whatever, gets you back to the exchange only
(this why you get strange messages when you try to call the number, there is no incoming connection to number, just the exchange)
    3) exchange(A) forwards your request to another exchange (B)
    4) exchange (B) calls, and connects you to, a call center, possibly in your area.
    5) The people at the call center may not even know who called you, only that they are to pitch a specific product or service.

I put this possible scenario together after trying to get more info from them. During one call I was able to befuddle the young lady on the line long enough for her to blurt out a name of a company (and not creditcard services) and a local (509) number, unfortunately I was without pen and paper and was not really expecting her to be truthful and so have neither. Needless to say the  call was quickly terminated from her end (supervisor overheard?).

The reason they would use this method is twofold:

    1) You have no record of the call center's number (they're safe!) You may only have the number that called you and that probably is fictious or won't be used to call you the next time.

    2) What is worse is that you actually initiated the call to the call center and, therefore, they are now possibly exempt from the DNC regulations for this call and for a year more. Now both the call center and creditcard services are safe!

This entire operation is as brilliant as it is annoying.

We've been getting calls from Cardholder Services about once a week for several years now.  Is the address above still correct?  Perhaps direct action at / to his home is called for since nothing else seems to work.

Occasionally I push 1 and ask to be taken off their calling list, they always hang up in the middle of my request.

These calls have not stopped as of 10/12/11!!  They call all day and all night from different numbers and even selecting the #3 option does not stop this.  I am so tired of all of it and it is a daily problem.

Latest number I was called from is 281-982-2498...

Would love to files a local suit, though would most likely not result in anything since identifying them is a challenge...

I simply can't believe that this group can't be stopped.  2 calls yesterday and one just now.  How can they keep getting new numbers?  Sheesh!!

STOP THE CALLING.  I'd never ever use your company for any service.  Send Rachel and her other idiots to China, Iraq or Iran.  Your idiotic calls come at all times of the day.  STOP.  Have a nice day out of the U.S.A.

These calls just keep coming and no one can seem to stop them.  I've decided to buy a referee's whistle.  Every time they call, I'm going to act interested then blow the whistle into the phone as hard as I can.  If some of these jerks get hearing loss, maybe they'll give up employment at the scam.

I received their call tonight and do what I do when they call.  I am a former cop and still have my whistle.  I press the number to speak to a
"live person". When someone answers I let loose with a long shrill blast from my whistle.

With any luck I will ruin someones day.

They're looking for credit card numbers?

    Give them one: http://www.darkcoding.net/credit-card-numbers/

Poison their data with fake names and numbers.
Make a list of numbers and keep it with your phone. When they call, give them the next number on the list (with made-up name, expiration date and CVV...they have no way to check these)

    @ madamimadam

This is clearly not the case in many of our situations, as the human we are connected with is abusive or completely inappropriate. Hanging up, calling people names, THREATENING PEOPLE.... that is all beyond any remote sense of human decency I can feel. As far as I am concerned, everyone directly or indirectly involved in this scam is a knowing, willing participant and deserves whatever they get - which would preferably involved jail time but will likely be little more than stress and possible hearing loss.
