AT&T YellowPages.com does what they want

Hello,

A warning for anyone that gets a telemarketing call from AT&T YellowPages.com. My wife and I own a small mom and popbusiness and my wife received a call and listened to the person go through their services, but when he gave my wife the pricing she told him that she would speak with me and he'd contact her the next day. When the next day came she told him no not now.

They proceeded to bill us and said that from part of the conversation they consider it an ok for the expensive but totally useless service. A billion dollar company screwing over a mom and pop. Know they are trying to sue us for failing to make any payments in a service which we did not want.

I guess billion dollar companies and their lawyers think it's ok to screw mom and pop stores and my guess is that the idiotic court system will probably side with them since the supposedly have a voice recording, but coincidently without the end section nor the day after part just cut down to what the contracted telemarketer (who no longer with them for some undisclosed reason) are using as the ok. I guess that since they can no loger use their marketing tactic on people now they have started on mom and pop's.

Well at the very least they let me out of my contract.  All within one weeks time of filling out the two earlier forms mentioned above.

High pressure salesman got me to "sign up". After getting no results I cancelled the service after about six months. Two years later they are still charging my VISA card. Now they say can't cancel unless it's in writing.

These people are unethical crooks and scammers.

They omit portions of their calls. When i agreed to "try it for two or three months" and repeated this several times in the recorded phone conversation, this conveniently got deleted from the recording. They misrepresented themselves and stole money from me. I never could get my representative to answer or call me back or e-mail me/ she knows they did. Stay away from them, they are crooks.

This is not about a "shift in the market". this is about theft. They continued to deduct arbitrary amounts of money from my bank account beyond what I agreed to.  This is called cramming and hurts small business. It is unethical.

Every year : you are right. But this year I was waiting for the usual contact from a salesman and it never came.
Business has been bad and NO calls from the yellow pages , so I was going to cancel . I knew the contract ended at the end of January, so I called to cancel and "Oh didn't you know, that is an 'automatic renewal'. You are 'automatically signed up' till 2013 !" ALSO, they extended the contract 2 more months AND increased the monthly amount !
The only time I have heard of "automatic renewals" is with credit card scams. I do believe that this is a scam ! At least with paying by credit card, I could hope for some help from a BIG company ! This time I'm (we) are on our own.

I have a business and have advertised in the Yellow Pages for decades.  A couple years ago I decided to stop advertising in the Yellow Pages.  For the past year I'm absolutely sure that I did not agree to any advertising.

Today I got a bill for $1,140 ($95 per month).  I called and told 'Brian' that I did not agree to any advertising.  He told me that when the monthly charge is less than $100, no sales representative will call.  THE CONTRACT RENEWS ITSELF AUTOMATICALLY.  It becomes the advertiser's responsibility to send a registered letter to a certain address in order to quit.  As a courtesy, Brian offered to cut the bill in half ($47.50 per month).  He warned me this was a one-time offer.

    What should I do?

I worked for AT&T Riverside Call Center. The reson I left was because the people did not care about what they where selling and who it hurt. They are selfish people that only care about money and sex. Everett Lathen King Selfish would walk around groping the girls a married man. So don't look for help from this company.

      Hey Guys,

This is the attorney you can get in touch with who’s filing the class action against yellow pages.  I hope this helps, (I know I might be a day late and a dollar short, but I thought I’d get the word out if it hadn’t been done already)

    Never Again!
I am a former employee of At&t yellow pages & yellowpages.com Now known as YP & YP.com.  The practices this company "Teaches" it's employees are sickening! They literally Brain wash employees, into hinking the sales tacktics are legal and yet best intrest for the company! NOT the client!! I resigned after fighting back and forth with upper Mgt about the unethical practices being forced upon me. They say ALL programs have to have YP.com on themwhich is not true. They claim to give you a "Discount if you go into Print and Internet which also is another lie. Print stay the same and internet is the only item discounted. DONT let them raise your price for staying the same, they will keep it the same if you say you will cancel, they are trained to increase all accounts 15-30% each year. All you need is your name in the book internet listing are free. Dont waste money on yp.com. it does not work and they laugh at you when your off the phone and get a high 5 for stealing your money!!! Please forgive me.

    Thanks

ATT advertising Solutions, has by far been the worst company I have ever dealt with.
These people are all incompetent to my needs and I was transferred to different people/departments, just to be told yea we will have someone contact you after 48 business hours. I am tired of hearing that.
I am thankful that my contract is ending in July 2013. However I have had issues from October of 2012 and still nothing has been done. I have gotten as high as the director and even his poor lack of communication proved just because you have the title Director in your position does not mean you will fix what harm has been done. I asked please can you kindly downgrade me or put me on a lower plan. Since the price of $115.00 was nearly too much for what I was being offered. I was told  " well Phil we can make you a logo you". Like WTF I am a graphic designer I can make my own logo. This is the worst experience ever and is there anything that anybody knows what to do to fight against these crooks, would be greatly appreciated.
Lastly I closed my bank account and told this air head rep change my account and what do you know they deducted money from my closed checking account and put it into a negative balance now I have to pay that just to bring it back to $0.00 again. These fools kept beating around the bush until they finally got it right and added the correct card!!

I could go on and on but you get the idea. Horrible service!!

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH ATT  ADVERTISING SOLUTIONS!!! BEWARE

YP Advertising is honestly the worst business experience I ever had.  I never complain or write reviews but they got me so upset, that I've had to. I've been with them for about 7 years. Everything was fine till I've moved to different industry and decided to close my business. I've called them to cancel explaining that I'm closing my business. First they said it will be no problem will just not renew contract. I've called them after that to make sure it's cancelled. Now they saying that they can't guarantee it will be canceled, unless I write them certified letter, then call them to make sure they got it, and MAYBE then it will be canceled. Spoke to 2 representatives they both were rude and couldn't even get their supervisors or managers to talk to me. "they all busy" That's what they said.
They are just bunch of lairs.
I've had online advertising with Yellow Pages before and I was amazed how much they lie. When I called to cancel that, customer rep said to me "are you sure you want to cancel? Looks like your add had 1400 clicks last month."
Do you really think that we, customers just plain stupid??? I use Google Analytic on my website and can track all sources of my traffic. So that month it was actually 3 (THREE), only 3 clicks!!!! Well maybe he meant  impressions? I asked him that and he said "no, people clicked on your add 1400 times last month."
So customers BEWARE!!!! Stay away from YP if you have a chance.

Could not believe the lies and outright disregard for my business listing in the phonebook and online so many incredible bad service if I listed them all you would think I was making it up.from the original sales pitch to the botched print ad to the totally incompetent managing of the online ad. I was lied to at the beginning then lied to about what the real truth was and now they have started a new lie. After 5 weeks with my online listing not having my phone number with it,yes my PHONE NUMBER!! And 4 different people saying they would fix it ,it was finally fixed that's when I found out that my online ad that is almost $300 a month is only being listed in 1/3 of the city of wilmington nc which is not a big city and not even listed in my own zip code 6 miles from wilmington ,rocky point!!!!!!!! I could go on and on but I plan to take some legal action I have received 1 call in almost 4 months horrible company filing a complaint with the attorney general they won't do anything but at least it will be on file

AT&T finally sued my company out of existence.  They lied, They forged signatures on contracts.  I just did a lengthy blog post on what they did to my company.  On the day we where in court 25 other companies lost just in this one court room.  One even had proof that the signature on the contract was a forgery.  Judge did not care and awarded AT&T a summary judgement.  This is going on across this country but nobody cares.  For those interested it can be found here. wmatl.wordpress.com  For anybody who thinks they need to be in the Yellow Pages YOU DON'T.  The internet has made them obsolete.  In fact don't do anything with them, you are better off using other firms for your internet marketing and absolutely do not use AT&T.

We are interested in speaking with people/businesses located in California who (1) advertised in the print directory of the YP yellow pages (formerly AT&T) and (2) are victims of an automatic renewal program; i.e. people who tried to cancel their listing but were advised that they were unable to do so, absent a certified letter.

Please call us at 310 - 550 - 4840 and ask for Tabitha.  You may also email us at YPAutoRenewalVictim@gmail.com (YPAutoRenewalVictim    at  gmail . com )
