AT&T YellowPages.com does what they want

Complaint

Hello,

A warning for anyone that gets a telemarketing call from AT&T YellowPages.com. My wife and I own a small mom and popbusiness and my wife received a call and listened to the person go through their services, but when he gave my wife the pricing she told him that she would speak with me and he'd contact her the next day. When the next day came she told him no not now.

They proceeded to bill us and said that from part of the conversation they consider it an ok for the expensive but totally useless service. A billion dollar company screwing over a mom and pop. Know they are trying to sue us for failing to make any payments in a service which we did not want.

I guess billion dollar companies and their lawyers think it's ok to screw mom and pop stores and my guess is that the idiotic court system will probably side with them since the supposedly have a voice recording, but coincidently without the end section nor the day after part just cut down to what the contracted telemarketer (who no longer with them for some undisclosed reason) are using as the ok. I guess that since they can no loger use their marketing tactic on people now they have started on mom and pop's.

We are going through the same problem with Yellow Pages.  Did not want to renew and a salesperson tried to contact us and we told her to cancel.  She processed anyways and now they are trying to get $140/month.  We have never had one person come to our business from their advertisement.  We called CSR and was given the run around.  David Krantz is CEO!  What a nightmare!

What does it take to get on board?

I was promised 2nd placement for my ads in AT&T Yellow Pages.  When the book came out I was in 4th place!!!!  The sales rep. lied to me!!!!!  I spent a lot of money AT&T and want to be reimbursed for their mistakes!!!  Please email me asap if this has happened to you.  I want to file a lawsuit.

AT&T does not guarantee placement - they can only estimate.

These guys mostly seem to be making their own issues.  I've never had a problem and I've been with them for 3 years.  Only ad I ever actually saw a return from.  God bless my call tracking number.

I would be interested in adding my name to this action.  We have had a horrible experience with their entire company.  They never delivered, have been given multiple chances to make-right and now are hassling us with collections!  mbsims@iaxs.net

Thank you for that.  Any business owner should know that if they are promised business from any advertising, run for the hills! Advertising gives you one thing....EXPOSURE!  Internet directory advertising places you in front of people that are looking for what you do where you do it. Even though BERRY COMPANY sells yellowpages.com, they are a contractor or RESELLER. They do not work directly for AT&T.  If you sign on directly with yellowpages.com, you have to agree to everything on a voice recording and part of that is agreeing to the amount, the contract length AND the credit card number.  If that is agreed to, then it is hard to believe that someone "didn't know" they were agreeing to the contract.  This all sounds like sour grapes from businesses who are trying to get out of debts.  My listing with yellowpages.com works well some months, and other months not so much.  I know that all in all it will bring me leads that over the 12 months will pay for the listing and that I NEED exposure on the internet these days.  I also know that yellowpages.com provides 70% of all internet directory searches so it's the best bang for my buck.

This is a perfect Example of being confused about who is who. AT&T yellowpages.com is INTERNET ONLY, not print book.

This company is constantly calling & harassing for payments that we already made, and yet they have not produced ANY of the promised services.  We have had multiple meetings with their salespeople who promise to clear up the problems at their end, but still another person will call regarding billing, who has no clue to the history of the errors and non delivery of services at their end.  We are getting calls at least twice a week for payments, but no service and no communication from the salespeople.  We are going to have them investigated for harassment and incompetence.

If you are buying through your local rep, they sell BOTH print and yellowpages.com

Berry Networks has been owned by ATT since December 29th 2006, when it acquired Bell South. It pretends to be an "independent" marketer of Yellowpages, but it is NOT. It is misrepresentation at best or fraud at the worst. Berry will negotiate with it's competition "Verizon", but not so much ATT (itself). Don't ever pay rate card rates, it's like paying car sticker prices. They are just made up numbers. So what should you pay, well first you are entitled to a "Free" in column listing even if you don't purchase a display ad. The display rate card should be discounted by at least by 75% to 90%. Always demand "Favored Nation" pricing in wrting. That is the best price that has been offered to anyone else that has placed an ad of the same size in that book. Always get everything in writing and if you are doing a lot of advertising
( Different Books)demand an "Audit" with a money back guarantee and NOT a credit for the following year. Their track record of mistakes and wrong size (smaller ads)is legendry. If you don't understand it, then don't do as the Yellow pages and Yellow Books are the "Dinosaur" of advertising. That is why the phone companies have (Verizon) sold or soon (ATT) will be sell their interest in them and their(IDEARC MEDIA)stock is trading at pennies a share. Dealing with the Yellowpage/Yellowbook representitives is like dealing with  used car salemen only with a host of attorneys behind them. They are NEVER wrong, so hang on to your money and buy T-Shirts with your name and number on them for the local youth sports teams. That along with your "Free" in column listing is all you should need.

Bait and switch, I met in person with Natalie Klawiter the account manager with yellowpages.com. Natalie presented a mini lap top and provided me with a 2,500.00 contract, she introduced a 6,000.00 plus quote to which I was very uneasy with however, Natalie explained the nationwide campaign would work better for my business. She encouraged me with services I was not secure about obtaining. Account manager, Natalie had me sign, a “e-contract” and never presented me with a complete contract for my viewing, she complained about her PC not working properly and she would get me what I needed. Needless to say, I found myself with this enormous bill, incomplete internet listing which did not measure to quality I was told would be given.  She listed business in a unrelated field, all calls that came in were for persons looking for a dermatologist and not looking to purchase skin care product.  In all, I'm currently faced with a 12month contract for services I did not agree to, and yellowpages.com has failed to make any changes 1. To the ad listing 2.For the over charge to my account 3. Broken Lines of Communication for services to cancel or continue.  I have been a loyal customer to yellowpages.com with a separate business for more than 3years up until this point.  I've been violated by the misrepresentation and dishonesty of this company, and since I've had to cancel any charges paid to yellowpages.com on my American Express Credit Card.
