They all lie.
When I register Bally, I ask can I cancel anytime. He told me I can cancel in 60 days. After 25 days later I went to cancel guy told me my membership canceled. A month later, I got a bill I went office back the guy told me he will told with office about my cancelation. A month later another bill came. I call customer service they told me I am not cancel and 60 days pass. I can't cancel now. After 1 hour discussion with customer service they told me I cannot do anything if I don't pay it will be destroyer my credit history.

DO NOT BECOME A MEMBER !!! They will suck you in and you can NEVER cancel !!! I sent them a certified letter of CANCELLATION in November 2010, which was received, and I have proof. I call on January 25th to ask why there has been 2 withdrawals of $29.99 from my account, and they say they DID NOT receive the cancellation letter !!!
I had to write a letter, make a copy of everything I have and send it to their Washington DC account. I will let you know how long it will take. Never sign up for auto debit unless it's for your utility bills.
Their customer service SUCKS !!! You have to be creative to get to a human being! Rule of Thumb - if you want to speak to a human, always select the choice for sales, add service etc. They make sure you speak to someone.
Yet another experience under my belt...
So PLEASE I advise everyone that are sending letter out regarding to over charges issue ALSO file a compliant the the above listed offices, the more the better. Just look at what members in Texas have done, with enough compliant we will get this fraud [***] company down.
1). Call and ask for the address of the cancellation dept.
2). Write a letter w/your account # stating u want 2 cancel.
3). Call in 10business days to see if they did receive it
4. ) change your card number haha
the worst gym and the worst contracts ever. when i came there i was new sign up something, and they've promised me to cancel my membership at anytime. after that i got sick and stayed home for 4 months. i went there, they said you should have come to us earlier. so we've cancelled your memebership. and it will be sent to the collection if you dont pay the settlement. But i've told them that i was sick, i couldn't get out of my house to cancel them. I was supposed to send my documents to California from which you never get a response.
Honestly F**k Bally's. The worst cheaters ever. If anybody still has something to complain about, we should do it together. file a petition to the court about this stupid business.
thank you
I used the "Contact us" option on the website and sent an email that looked like...
"I’d like to request cancellation for a family member that was added onto my account. She is currently unemployed and can not afford the month to month payments for the club membership any longer.
Member information for cancellation:
Type of membership: Month-to-month, no contract
Name: xxxx xxxxxxxxx
Member Number: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"
How can you argue with someone who has no job and no money to pay for something that is month to month? You just can't. I was also presented with the option of freezing the account for $4/month. I replied (politely!), "She is unemployed. She'll be trying to save and pinch every penny."
After that I also called into the number 866-402-2559. Pressed a bunch of different options and after 1/2 an hour of waiting I spoke to a rep who was more than willing to cancel the membership over the phone.
I got confirmation from the rep that it was cancelled via email and also received a reply to my original email around the same time. Which leads me to believe these are the same departments. I'm hoping I didn't just get lucky and everyone who wants to cancel can do so just as easy as I did.
"Dear xxxxxxxxxxx

so i received it , it did not sound real to me and i felt that i should call back since the letter never said the membership is cancelled.
i made the call , so this rep. asking me about my email address , i said what this has to do with the cancellation and i told him that i received that letter from bally about expiration of my credit card ( which was not true) and letter never mentioned cancellation . he said i have to write them a letter and better if i sent documents about my shoulder surgeries.
I can't believe how mean they are not to tell the truth and clearly lie over the phone . and now they ask me for reason of cancellation ....this is crazy . so i guess i would get surprised with a bill afterwards.
