Received 3 calls from these guys from 559-328-2353 at my office claiming to be some kind of Official US Branch of Govt. Anyways I called them to see what this was all about, and they couldn't get their names straight, So I asked for their address and the guy just hangs up. Its a SCAM of some kind for sure so don't fall for it.

Just received call from 559 797 8497 about a legal action being brought against me through the dept of treasury. They too have an Indian accent and when I told him that I was in prison for the year I filed and thus owed taxes, he hung up on me, but before doing so he said that I can go back to prison. Guy was using the name Daniel Rich. Total scam!!! I called back and they are answering "department of treasury", I told him that I reported him to the authorities and also put him on blast on google...he also immediately hung up. Be aware!

Also received a voice mail message from Adam Walker (thick Indian accent).  He could not pronounce my name correctly and told me to have my attorney call 415-926-4183 in order to avoid legal action against me.  This is a scam

I just received a call from 573-693-2884 a Peter Morris. I didn't make it to the phone so I called back and a Keith Nelson answered. (Both guys with heavy Indian accents) and I said I was calling back Peter Morris, he said he was busy but he would take care of me. He told me that I had a warrant for my arrest for unpaid taxes from 2012 did I receive a notice number whatever..and I said no. He said I am going to tell you what I have and do not interrupt me at all. I couldn't hear him or understand him. And I told him and he said be ready to go to jail for 6 months because someone will be at my door in 45 minutes to arrest me. I said for what? I have no idea what he's talking about. He told me I need to go to the doctor within 45 minutes and get my ears checked! And he hung up on me. I kept calling back and now they won't answer the phone.

I just got 3 phone calls today from an Adam Walker - phone # 408-330-7044.  When I 1st answered the phone it took a long time for him to talk so I hung up. (strong foreign accent)  He called again, I hung up the phone cause I was on the other line.  He called a 3rd time, leaving a message saying he was from the US department  of legal affairs.  He also said if I cannot call back he strongly suggested that my attorney call him back as soon as possible to avoid criminal action. (I could hear in the back ground others saying the same message, like they were in a small room making these calls)

On 8/7/14 at around 2:25pm pacific time  I  received a call  from a 202-506-8176 number. This  guy  claim to be from the Department of legal Affairs, named   Keith Robinson, a respectable name to said the least, but what struck me as odd was that when he tried to pronounce my last name he sounded like his first language is not English.  When I call the number whoever answer the phone did not ask for my name at all he wanted to know from which  phone had I received the call home or mobile at this point I just hung up. Did a department of legal affairs search and found all of this info.

I received same scamming call just this afternoon from 213-401-2952 and they left a threatening message that myself or my husband better call back today.  If we were unable to call we should have our attorney call immediately....we do have an attorney on retainer so if they give me anymore problems I will turn it over to him.  I tried calling the number and only got an answering machine asking for me to leave a message...Heck No!!!  Very, Very Heavy India Accent also.

I have received 3 of these calls so far from 202-769-5271; two for me on my home phone and one for an Allan Cooper (?) on my cell phone. The message is the same as all the others except the call is from Carol Johnson with the Dept. of Legal Affairs with the U.S. Treasury and if I don't call back or if she doesn't hear from my attorney, all she can do is "wish me good luck."  I told her I don't have long distance service on my home phone so I cannot make the call, she didn't understand what I was talking about threatened me again and hung up.  I looked up the above number in the reverse directory and the only info I got was it's a landline. So I registered w/PeopleVerified.com for 99 cents to see if I could locate the name attached to that number and it was UNAVAILABLE. Then I searched by the name but there are 199 Carol Johnson's in Washington, DC. So I filed a complaint against that number. These people are annoying!! Yesterday's call was from a man, I think David Williams, I laughed at him as he was threatening me with legal action; he was undeterred in his script. Finally, I found this site. Thank God! I think these people need to be stopped!

Received a call today saying that I didn't pay taxes to the IRS in 2011 and was being charged with tax evasion. That the issue was turned over to the Dept. of the Treasury.  If I did not pay what was due ($2,700), that the police were coming to my house to arrest me and lock me up for 6 months.

I got a call from "treasury agent Richard Harris"  from 213 401-2952.  'mr harris' who sounded more like a Sri Lankan refugee than a government official, advised me that there was a problem with my 2012 tax return and I was facing 'a year in prison without chance for paying bail'.  I told him that I was a constitutional law professor at the local university and he was in violation of a number of statutes and I needed to speak to his supervisor immediately.  he hung up.  have a little fun with these guys but don't take them seriously.

Got a call on 8/19 from 213-221-8472. A Jordan Miller left a lengthy VM. Started the message using my first and last name which took three times of trying before he could spit it out. Then went on to say something about Department of Legal Affairs and something about an attorney and to call back. Couldn't hear most of what he was saying, but he had a very thick accent, and based on his tone for the half of the message that I couldn't hear, sounded like he was making some kind of threats against me if I didn't return the call. He sounded very upset and was using a persuasive and forceful way of speaking. Please let your friends and family, especially older relatives know about this scam, obviously some people are gullible and giving these people what they want, otherwise they wouldn't keep calling around to find the next unknowing victim. The # they've called from is now blocked, let's just hope they don't call from another one. #whatawasteofhumanbreath

I just received a call from 213.401.2952, same heavy accent, telling me that I needed to respond or be subject to criminal action in front of a grand jury or trial.  Also, some reference to the treasury dept.  Final part of message "I urge  you to call back and help us help you"!  Sure, the only thing they want to help me with is to part me from my money!

Do not answer these calls.  They are a total scam... I read about them before.  Someone from a federal agency would NOT contact you in this way!!  Do NOT call them back... just ignore them.  They are TRYING to get you to call back... don't do it!!!

Just spent 30 min of my life on the line with 'officer Shirly Rogers' from "the legal department of the IRS" (very un-American accent). She stated I was being arrested in 60 min for a mistake I made on my 2010 taxes. They had my email and my home address. I have children and am not ok with this. I have been on hold with the actual IRS for nearly 30 min to report this. The # they called from is 202-769-5271. The part I don't understand, what were they gaining from this phone call. I gave them NO info. Only listened as they told me the info they had on file. When I asked if I could 'rectify the situation' by making payment she stated she "was not calling to collect, only to inform me if the proceeding warrent I would be served with in 60 min." I kept asking her question hoping to catch her in a lie... Ugh!!

It's all a lie.  It's a con.. replies to Outraged
They first build up their "credibility" before they hit you with the punch.
That was just a lame attempt at acting "official".
They have to create enough panic to get you to go to Walmart to get a prepaid debit card.

Received call from 213-401-2952 that left message last night, not a real organization.  Therefore, since the call I have called back several times telling them I know the scam.  They get angry and hang up, but it's pay back time and they are now paying the price.  It would be great if everyone were to call this number and tell them you know the scam,  Pass the word and have all your friends call this number and let them know we are watching.
