Received 3 calls from these guys from 559-328-2353 at my office claiming to be some kind of Official US Branch of Govt. Anyways I called them to see what this was all about, and they couldn't get their names straight, So I asked for their address and the guy just hangs up. Its a SCAM of some kind for sure so don't fall for it.

I received a call from 213-401-2952 claims he is from US Treasury.  He said that I owed $3245 from 2011 taxes.  I asked why I haven't received any notices and he said that they have been sending the notices to my accountant.  I asked if I can put him on hold and call my accountant and he got very upset and said that the minute I hang up he will have me arrested.  I hung up.

Got a call from George at Dept of Legal Affairs at 915-317-4924....this was 8/26/14. This guy knew my first and last name, which I didn't care for at all.  Last week I got two calls from 510-545-7912 with the same kind of thing...telling me about some legal issue.

Ditto to all the comments above. Guess being on the "Do not call list" does not work when these scammers robo call. Hopefully there has been enough emphasis on news broadcasts to educate most of the population that these calls are bogus . It is kind of a hoot to play along with them if you pick up. I love the guy who responded to them that he was a Special Agent! My call said the US Treasury wanted to talk with me and a"magistrate" would contact me. I did not know the US Treasury had any folks with that title. These folks are such a nuisance.

Backbone Communications directly to report fraud and extortion attempts using their system.
Push the problem back on the telecoms that make it possible, and file FCC and FTC complaints against THEM if they fail to curb it.

I have 4 phone calls in a row on my caller ID from the same number 215 734-0221.  I called that number back and a man with a heavy foreign accent answered Dept of Legal Affairs.  He said his name was Albert Peters & Employee ID is 11525.  He told me I owed money to the IRS from 2010 and there was an arrest warrent out for me.  I asked why I never received correspondence in the mail & he said notices were sent to me & went unanswered.  He said that a Sheriff would be at my door if I didn't pay the back taxes.  I said Awsome!!!  He hung up.  Such a scam.  Why can't this be stopped???

I have received two voicemails from ADAM also, same scam.  I don't answer calls from numbers that I don't recognize...I figure if they really want to speak to me, they will leave a message.  If they have called more than once I block their number so they can't reach me (at least not with the same number !). My list of blocked numbers is getting pretty long!

I was relieved too to see this on the internet too.  I got a voicemail today from Steve Martin a gentleman with a very heavy  accent.  He said on the voicemail "this call is an attempt to contact you regarding an enforcement action executed by the US Treasury".  He went on to say that ignoring this call will be an intended second attempt to avoid appearing before a majestrate or a grand jury for a criminal offense.  He ended the call by saying "Id like you to cooperate and help us help you".  The readout on the caller ID was 'CALIFORNIA'.  The number on the caller ID was 818-328-2962 and was not the same number he verbally gave me to call back.  I called the number on the caller ID first. There was a recording that said the number was not in service.  Then I called the number he verbally gave me which was 818-338-2962.  A woman with a heavy accent answered the phone.  She answer the phone "Dept of Legal Affairs".  I ask her for her full name and she totally ignored my question and indicated that she was an employee in the Dept of Legal Affairs and her employee number was 11536.  She asked me what number I was calling from and I gave her the same number they used to call me.  She made several attempts to find the number but kept saying I cannot find that number, I need your land line number and then I can look up the details on your case.  I told her this is my landline number and it is the same number that Steve Martin called me on today.  Then she asked me for my cell phone number.  When I started raising my voice and I told her I wasn't giving her any further information until she could tell me what the situation was and who and what they are calling me about, she hung up on me. Fortunately our government doesn't work this way.  Not sure what the scam is because I didn't get that far, but they must be successful on some of these attempts to scare people to death because this blog goes way back and they are still calling people!!  I guess you could call this a different form of terrorism.

Basically that same call I received But I could see where she was going with the conversation. Wish there was more we could do about this type scam and protect others then just make comments about it. I know a few people who would fall for a scam like this, unfortunately. :(

I received a voicemail message from a Steve Martin (267) 499-4090 stating he was with Dept. Legal Affairs with the US Treasury and that a legal action was being taken against me. This call is an attempt to contact you regarding an enforcement action executed by the US Treasury and  warrant an official appearance to be seen in front of a Magistrate or Grand jury.
When I called the number a woman with a strong India accent asked me my name and then proceeded to tell me I was going to be arrested for improperly fling my taxes in the year 2010.
She asked. "Do you pay your taxes?"
I answered in a raised voice, "Of course, I do. What is your address?"
She repeated said  to me, "You need to answer the questions."
I told her I did and I wanted their address.
She said, " Philadelphia, PA". Then again repeated her previous statement and I repeated mine.
She then said, "As soon as I hung up, you will be arrested. The police will be called and come to your home, you will be arrested, and they will handcuff you."
To which I interrupted her in my firm irritated voice and again said, "I want the complete address and that I was no dumb-bunny"
She did not let me continue my statement...she hung up.

Got one of these calls today. After I grilled him and he hung up on me, I called him back. He said I was being recorded, I said "Oh good! Do you know it is a Federal offense to impersonate a Federal employee?" and he said "OH YOU [***]!" and hung up on me.
