I purchase A 2004 jaguar x-type with 65K back in September 3,2009 with a 60 day warranty.Oct 15,2009 I purchased a warranty with, Direct buy warranty. My transmission failed due to mechanical issues,I submitted receipts showing the first month I spent 3,000 just to get it the way I wanted. After the transmission was fixed, they refuse to pay, cause they ran a carfax on my vechicle and claim it was involved in two accident before I purchase the car.So they reimburst my money cause if anything else happens they will not cover it.I had ask them when I first Purchase the warranty Do I need to get te car check in one of their listed repair shops, they said it was not necessary. So I ended up paying for the repairs.

in almost every response on this complaint blog DBW claims the person put in a claim almost as soon as the contract went into effect.  if this has been such a problem and DBW is being honorable why dont you guys get an inspection report first.  a customer that has good intentions wouldnt mine, just as i did with the new company i brought secondary insurance with.  you guys dont and will not do this because you have no intention on paying claims.  this one extra step would avoid 90% of the complaints i have read about this company but obviously not DBW concern.  Scamming people is.  And when did DBW auto warranty become a part of DirectBuy Home furnishing Wholesale club as a DBW represantive stated to my repair facility?  A total Scam

    A Joke?
Who goes to a complaint Blog to post something positive other than an employee of that company?  why would you be on a complaint blog if you didnt have a complaint?

I have to assume that you are from Direct Buy directly based on the inside knowledge you seem to have on these complaints.  I have to say I was considering getting a warranty through Direct Buy for my new car but after reading your comments here I am appalled at the customer service.  If you are this argumentative and aggressive with your clients it's a wonder your company is in business at all.

When customers complain, they should be heard.  Things will happen and some claims will not be covered and there are always two sides to each story- how you handle these complaints is what makes you a good or bad company.  You have lost a customer with me because of your behavior.

    WARNNING!
They are still in business becasue they are doing business in an unethical manner.  DWB takes people's money and try EVERYTHING they can to decline people's claim.  The contract is a total BS.  I should have read it through before I pay them.  DO NOT FALL INTO THE SAME TRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1: This company uses the term “Pre-exisiting Condition” to decline people’s claim. The truth is, every car that roll out of dealer as a new car, can be considered having pre-existing condition. Since this company doesn’t require you to send the car to do condition check (like health check up for health insurance), and have a mutual agreement with you, they can easily decline you claim base on this term.

    2. The customer service is one of the worst. They will find whatever excuses they can to delay your claim. For instance, they will play the “FAX GAME” with you, in which you fax them the document, but they claim they didn’t receive.

    3. The cancellation is the killer. Once you pay them the money, you are at the point of no turning back. If you cancel the policy within 30 days, they will charge you $250. If you cancel the policy after 30 days, ONLY 50% WILL BE RETURNED!!! YES! ONLY 50%!

    4. Upon cancellation, they will ask you to submit a request form. If you don’t complete the request form, THEY WILL NOT REFUND YOUR MONEY! Guess what, the form asks you to sing the agreement for GIVING UP THE RIGHT TO SUIT THEM. In other word, if you want to get the money back, you can’t suit them anymore, because by sign the paper, you gave up your right in legal actions against this company. What if you don’t sign? Well, they will keep you money.

I am in a battle with Direct Buy currently.

If you want another plaintiff on your law suit, count me in!  I too am in California.

They denied my claim based on "lack of maintenance records." (I've only had the car for 5 months).  I managed to obtain the prior owner's service records and then they called me, recorded my conversation without my consent, and tried to bully me into admitting that there was a "pre-existing condition."  I did not do so.

    Seriously, contact me - tamara@fisherindustries.net

well your company is horriable i took out warranty in oct 09 selected the options to pay monthly instead of one lump sum,i signed up for auto pay thru my bank card, your company took my depoist from bank card no problem never took another payment until the end of the suppose contract  oct 10 never made contact with me in ref to payment never called email or by mail that you where not receiving payment,so based on your info on your contract it states you reserve the right to cancel so we thought you did not want out buisness..i called your company your rep. was very rude and unprofessional one even told me he was being sartastic on purpose...i slected to make payments monthly not one lump sum...your company is misleading you make customers think they dont have a warranty then at the end of the warranty you snatch your money from there debit card that your reps. claim for 11 months was not going thru but all of a sudden when its time to take over 700.00 from my account its works my bank stated there was no attempt made for withdrawals of monthly payment just the lumpsum..so i am having lawyer look into this,,, you never contact your customer for nonpayment then take total amount of warranty out at the end of contract....unacceptable

    WARNING!!
This is for sure a dirty trick they are doing.  By doing so, they have two advantages.

    (1) if you file a claim within that year, they can simply decline your claim by stating NON-Payment.

    (2) if you do not claim within that year, then it's safe for them to take money away from you because you can't claim anymore as the year has ended.  They will say, that lump sum is the coverage of that one year.

I too am investigating purchasing a warranty for a recently purchased 2009 Mercedes Benz.

However, when I called this afternoon, ~5:05 pm EST, they said they were closed.  I was upset, but now maybe I am glad they did not answer, as I was ready to purchase.

I do see some positive notes regarding Direct Buy Warranty, but probably not enough.

I do have ALL the previous records AND the CarFax is up to date as well, showing no issues, only matinence being done on schedule.

My question to DBW:  Why should I purchase a warranty from you?

    Thank you.

I was about to buy a policy from direct buy, but after seeing this website..I CHANGE MY MIND!  THANKS GUYS FOR YOUR INFO!  They tried to pressure me to purchase a warranty on the phone, they said it was a "veteran's day 1 day special"...basically a now or never thing.  I told them I would think about it and call them back.  Now they have been calling me non stop, every weekday!  I will not get scammed by them!  This forum is necessary to prevent more people from being victimized...I am somebody that has been saved!  Thanks for all the info!

As the Senior Customer Relations Mgr. at DirectBuyWarranty, maybe you can help. Steven Wright, Regional Sales Mgr. at DirectBuyWarranty led me to believe all my repairs would be covered. He sent me a list of covered repairs to whch I agreed. I bought two warranties, one for $993.89, the other for $1070.98. When I submitted a claim, I was told it wasn't covered because I had powertrain coverage only. Had he told me this up front, I would never have purchased this coverage. I feel that I should receive a full refund. A reputable company shouldn't have to deceive people to buy their product.

Direct Buy is a BAD COMPANY!!!!!!
I was just contacted at 7:30 in the morning by Direct Buy Auto. They threatened me with federal crimes, told me they were going to have "My life and credit ruined" by sending my information to all the collection and credit agencies along with several other disturbing things.

I calmly asked him to calm down (he started at about a 7 in intensity) and to discuss it with me. I told him I put a claim with Bank of America against them because I never authorized the payment in the first place and that I am sure we could work it out as adults if he would calm down enough to discuss it with me.

He became more irate and I eventually had to hang up with him due to his very agressive behavior. He continued to call back and his threats became even more offensive after I hung up the first time. I eventually called my bank and had them call on my behalf, but he had already called me about 10 times. I am a 27 year old.  6 foot  200 pound man, and I was very shaken by his aggression.

    I wanted to write your company and say ;

1: They authorized a payment without my approval
2: They tried to get far more info than needed from me to return my money back to my card they took it from (including my SSN)
3: They called with direct threats of lawsuits, federal crimes, credit reporting, and they never told me the call was being recorded or offered any sort of discussion to easily resolve the situation. They used vulgar language and multiple threats all before 7:40 in the morning.

    NONE OF THAT IS LEGAL!!

Never has a company done something like this to me in my entire life. I am appalled by Direct Buy Warranties actions and felt it would be very important to share my story. I just don't want this happening to anyone else. Especially someone without the tough skin or life experience of myself.

I hope this email can shed a light on Direct Buys shady practices and will improve others auto warranty experiences in the future.

    Thank you for your time.

WOW WOW, I ALMOST GOT A WARRANTY FROM YOU GUYS TOO. TOO MANY COMPLAIN OF DENIAL OF SERVICE FROM YOU GUYS.

I purchased a "platinum elite" warranty from dbw. I took my tahoe in to a dealer today for repairs. Cd player that does not work, lumbar that does not work and my speedometer/odometer which is ratteling.
The service writer was told that these items are excluded.
My policy clearly does not exclude these parts. So I filed a claim today and am waiting for a response. I have also been charged an international funds fee twice which was never disclosed to me by dbw. They have refunded them as soon as I have called but it is the inconvinence of the matter.
I will post here again once I have an answer from the claims department on the matter. All I can say is that if they are on the up and up great if not they picked the wrong person to try to cheat. I have multiple contacts with the BBB and state agencies. If you are going to offer something to a consumer then provide exactly what you have offered.

This company is the worst. I took my car and found it needed a timing a chain and gears (2001 Lincoln Continental).  When my mechanic told me he called it in but I should have my records ready just in case to show I had the regular maintenance done.  The next day I received a call requesting the records.  I faxed over my log, I do all my own maintenance and keep a good log.  Sure enough, I was told that they will cover the repair because the maintenance was done by a certified mechanic. What really gets me is that when I purchased the warranty I informed them that I do my own maintenance and was told as long as I keep records I will be fine. I went to see the car while it was apart and it clean as a whistle. But that does not count with this company. Now I am paying for the repairs of $3,000.00. The fact this is the first time I have ever had a major problem with this car has no meaning with this company.  All they do is find away to turn down a claim.  Small claims I am sure they will cover.

I sent an email to the company informing then to cancel the warranty, I received an email back in 5 minutes with a cancellation notice.

I do plan on pursuing this and filing a complaint with the insurance commissioner. I may not get a thing but at least they will have to respond.
