I purchase A 2004 jaguar x-type with 65K back in September 3,2009 with a 60 day warranty.Oct 15,2009 I purchased a warranty with, Direct buy warranty. My transmission failed due to mechanical issues,I submitted receipts showing the first month I spent 3,000 just to get it the way I wanted. After the transmission was fixed, they refuse to pay, cause they ran a carfax on my vechicle and claim it was involved in two accident before I purchase the car.So they reimburst my money cause if anything else happens they will not cover it.I had ask them when I first Purchase the warranty Do I need to get te car check in one of their listed repair shops, they said it was not necessary. So I ended up paying for the repairs.

Hello I was just wondering if you still were trying to go after direct buy ? I was assured after I purchased my Warrenty  by a Kirk Moore who did a full check on my car and said it was top tear and would never get a claim rejected for pre existing conditions. Well today that's exactly what happened to me and I'm out 5 grand. Thanks

Terry I had the same thing happen to me in Dec 2011.   My spark plug blew out of the head on my Navagator one day and burnt one of my valves.  DBW tells me it was a preexisting condition.   When I bought the warranty I had 116,000 miles on it.  What is not a preexisiting conditinon ?  I asked for my money back and they said they would give me half back ( in a letter ). I have been calling almost every week for 6 months and am told everytime that they are going to push my payment through because I have waited so long. A bunch of B.S. !! They have NEVER refunded a dime to me and B.S me everytime I call . This company is a total SCAM !!

      Terry,
Are you still pursuing this action?  My wife and I just got completely ripped off by Direct Buy. Without going into all the details, a Volvo mechanic had looked at the warranty prior to purchase and said he thought it looked okay.  Long story short,  when the car we purchased the warranty on needed repair, the same mechanic submitted a claim for things usually covered under warranties from other companies and was told the damages and/ or malfunctions (there were a number of them)  were due to wear and tear (not covered) and he, the mechanic, said it was not: it was "equipment failure" (supposedly covered).  Direct Buy wouldn't send an independent inspector to verify as other warranty companies do.  They've been rude and patronizing throughout (not that that matters from a litigation standpoint.) It seems like a great scam, they can always claim that a breakdown is due to wear and tear even though a certified mechanic can verify that it isn't.   It comes down to his word v. theirs.   I look forward to hearing from you.
      Sincerely,
      Lew

I have a direct buy auto warranty policy.  I have had my vehicle for 4 months, a 2001 Jaguar S type.  I am having trouble with the transmission and took it to a repair shop, AAMCO, and they refused to pay.  i needed all the previous maintenance information.  It is a used car and I bought it from an individual.  I was then treated rudely, especially by a Mr. Watson, who claims to be a lawyer.  they then send an email to me saying I cancelled the policy, I did not.  they refunded my money or some of it so far.  I am angry as can be.  the transmission by the way does not get serviced, it is a sealed unit and only gets fixed if it fails, according to Jaguar.  they had no proble taking my money but now I am stuck.  shoot me a reply with contact information and I will gladly talk to your lawyer.

I had the same problem.  The co. was closed for 3 days last week, and then when I sent them the service records they requested they said I cancelled my policy and were issuing a refund.  I have a Volvo w/ a sealed transmission that does not need service, but in Sept 09 had a multi point inspection that showed trans was fine.  aAs soon as they got these records they cancelled my policy but said I had cancelled.  They were so rude, and I am convinced that there are only one or two people working there and they give different names.  I would like to get in on some sort of litigation, as i now have to pay out of pocket for the repair.
