Telephone number shown on caller ID is 208-864-5339.  I am registered on the "Do Not Call" list and have been for years; however, this bogus company continues to call regardless of what I do.  It begins with a   recorded message "This is Heather of Account Services; I am calling regarding your credit card account.  Consider this your last chance to take advange of this offer.  If you do not wish to receive these calls, please press 2 now.  If you wish to speak to a representative, press 1 now."  I have pressed "2" numerous times but they continue to call.  I have pressed "1" and asked the "representative", a man, to stop calling me.  I have asked to speak to his manager, etc.  When I dial the 208 number, I get a recording, made by the man who I talked with, saying that the number has been changed and to check the directory.  Obviously this message is not recorded by the telephone co.  I am trying to find out the name of the company.

I know I should not answer, but my lifelong training to be a decent person makes me pick up the phone.  When I see that it is Card Services, I opt to speak with a rep.  I try to embarrass them about their job, or to put fear of federal investigation in their heart.  Gut reaction...maybe not smart.  I hate them.  They are parasites.  They are predators of humanity and may be considered to be of another species.  What was that chant from "Lord of the Flies".....?

Yes this is a scam, but contrary to the just hang up on them, the KEY in all telemarketing is to get as many calls in per hour as possible, I used to do consulting for the telemarketing industry. It would take a combined coordinated effort to stop them, what it will take is for as many people as possible to talk to them as long as possible, act interested, but drag it out as long as you can, they need to talk to an average of 30-40 people an hour to break even, if we all can keep these scumbags busy talking to NON customers, they start loosing money big time and go out of business.

These calls originate from another country.  The US government has no control over them.

Your complaints to the FTC Do Not Call Center are a waste of time.

The only way to stop them is to waste their time by making believe that you are interested in their service.

You need to file a complaint with the FCC, not the BBB.

Posting here may make you feel better to vent but does absolutely nothing to solve the problem. Go to the FCC web site (FCC.gov) and file a complaint. Do this EVERY TIME you get a  call from these slugs. That is the only way to get the problem solved.

So, I got my call from "Anne" at Card Services yesterday.  I pushed a number and waited for the live jerk to come online.  I then picked up my ACME THUNDERER whistle, blew it into the phone and hung up.  Live jerk called back, and I did it again.  Live jerk called back THREE more times:  Call #3...silence.  Call #4...[***]!  You're gonna die!  Call #5...I've got your address now, [***]!  So, I filed a local police report, informed AT&T customer service as well as their annoyance calls department.  I was encouraged to contact the Federal Trade Commission, which I did, and filed my complaint.  I will now file a similar complaint with the Federal Communications Commission.  I was informed by the FTC person that these people are, indeed, under investigation.

The Do not call list only works for legitimate businesses. This scam doesn't care about the law and because they used computer generated spoofed numbers and probably proxy's it will be very difficult to catch. They also use a random number generator to place the calls so changing your number just means your the 57th number rather than the 39th.. It is frustrating.. I reported every number that called to the FCC for a while, but I am not sure that even helps. As a rule, if no message is left I don't return the call, if I don't recognize the state the number is from, I don't bother to answer. If I hear the card services on a call I answer, I just hang up... or like above I waste their time by getting them on the phone and talking about where they are from, what company they work for etc until they hang up. Hang in there and tell everyone you know about it, because someone out there is naive enough to fall for the scam.

My daughter answered the phone when these people called today.  She is 10 years old.  She told the lady on the phone that she is 10 years old and the lady tried to get my daughter's social security number.  When my daughter told the lady that she did not know her social security number, the lady asked for her full name and date of birth, she then told the lady "My mom says I should never give out my personal information."  The lady on the phone then called my daughter many vulgar names that had her in tears, I took the phone from her and informed the lady on the phone that she had just verbally accosted a 10 year old girl on top of trying to scam said 10 year old girl out of her personal information, she hung up on me.  Now I am at a loss as to who to report this to...though I know for sure that neither of my children will be answering the phone for unfamiliar numbers again any time soon.

I've logged a violation complaint with DoNotCall.gov but am still getting these calls, several per week.   Horrible that this scam is still effective.

I've tried everything - pressing the #2 button to take me off their list, politely asking to be taken off their list, engaging them to tell them that I don't need their services, ignoring their calls, etc.  Nothing seems to work.

I finally started keeping them on the line as long as possible by telling them I was interested in their services.  I make up everything (my account balances, the number of account, and the card numbers.)  I give them false credit card accounts.  Visa always start with a "4".  One of the operators asked who the cards belonged to.  I told him I found them on the street.  He actually had the moxie to tell me what I was doing was illegal.

Since I know I can't get rid of them, I can at least discourage them.  They seem to have caught on, though.  They hang up on me before I can say much.  Although I think I managed to get on an internal list that tells the callers to refrain from talking to me, list, their auto dialer still calls me a couple of times per week.

Ugghhh... This is so frustrating.  I have tried to "opt out" - doesn't work.  I have held on to speak to a live person, but as soon as I say, please remove me from your list... click- they hang up.  I even bought a little Trac phone for my son, only to have the minutes wasted because of these idiots that keep calling.

I can't imagine that they are able to drum up much business..... doesn't seem to be worth the effort.

I have just started out being as nasty as possible with various unpleasant references to their sexual body parts, sexual orientation, sexual behavior of their parents, etc. etc.    Yes they are "just doing their job"   but they are still invading my home with the intent to steal from me, so no sympathy from me.   If enough people did this, it might stop

    Heather's Father
    Dear Heather,

The last time we spoke was more than a year ago, so I must admit I was relieved to hear your voice again today. As usual, you didn't let me get a word in edgewise as you were so excited about how I could lower my interest rates.

Your voice hasn't changed a bit during the decade you have been calling to repeat your message to me. You sound just as assertive as ever, but friendly as the daughter I remember before you joined that telemarketing company. Don't you ever age?

Please, come home dear. You don't have to waste your life away with those criminals. I will forgive you for the hundreds of times you called. You can have your old room back. Just please stop calling. It hurts too much.

    Sincerely,

    Your Father

I read all the complaints about card services on the internet.  It's like a support group.  We should meet regularly and share our problems.  I suppose the card services callers are on some pacific island laughing their butt off.  Actually, I suppose they are poor folk who are being taken advantage of.
