DON'T BUY HAMPTON BAY FANS!

I purchased a ceiling fan and installed per the manufacturers directions. The fan stopped turning after two months of operation. When I called Hampton's customer service they told me sounded like a capacitor problem. They told me they would mail me the part with instructions on how to repair. The part came with no instructions and when I called back the technical rep displayed the rudest behavior that I have ever encountered. I finally informed him to just mail the instructions and I would figure it out. When I opened the fan to repair the capacitor I witnessed a bubble of grey matter which had oozed out of the capacitor. After a week I'm still waiting for the instructions to arrive in the mail. DON'T BUY HAMPTON BAY FANS!

Is it possible to get ball=bearings for your fan? I have one and it's making a lot of noise and wonder if I could replace the ball=bearings.  Please reply if you can .  Jeanne Farthing

I also purchased a Hampton Bay ceiling fan and installed it. The fan stopped working on high 3 days before Home Depot's 90 day return policy was up and I called the store and they said that after 60 days I had to call the company. They told me it was the capacitor and they would ship the part and it would arrive in 5-10 business days. I asked if the part would come with instructions and was told it didn't. Upon asking the woman how she proposed I install the part with no instructions she told me I could call back when I got the part. Yeah, like it's really easy to stand on a ladder, holding my cell phone and the lighting kit, and install the part. Three weeks later I still hadn't received the part, called back, spoke to the same woman, and was told the order got messed up and that it would arrive via UPS this time in 3-5 business days. I finally got the part but can't install it because the company's hours are 8am-5pm, when I, like most people, am not home. Hampton Bay's customer service basically sucks. I should have just taken the damn fan back to Home Depot when it first broke and demanded that they exchange it.

I installed a Hampton Bay lighted ceiling fan about two months ago. Two of the bulbs have since gone out. I can't find a match anywhere. I did not think I needed to consider the light bulb size when purchasing; there's always been a couple of standard sizes. I DO NOT recommend Hampton Bay for anyone. They are cheap, inconsistent, chinese crap. If I have to, I may just remove the ceiling fan and toss the piece of @#$% into the Home Cheapo. That's after I try to rewire it to a standard size light, like the [***] who made it should have done in the first place.

I need to call the company and can't find a phone number. My fan has been good but the motor went out; supposed to be a lifetime warranty though I'm sure that's a joke.

Can you share that number? If so I'll appreciate it - anyone can respond for that matter. I think they sneakily avoid adding the phone number to all marketing materials and websites.  Thanks so much,  Donna Click

SICK & TIRED OF HOME DEPOT CRAP
I bought a Hampton Bay Santa Cruz model to go with the new decor we choose for my son's room after Hurricane Gustav repairs were complete.  Bought the fan on 2/22/2009, installed it on 3/18/2009 and the fan quit spinning on 5/19/2009. I waited until the weekend to take it down and swap it out.  I bought the fan because of the "LIFETIME WARRANTY" which has a 90 day expiration at Home Depot.  I was 1 day over and got the usual Home Depot Runaround.  I had to demand a manager and finally got a swap out. If you can ever get someone to help you at Home Depot, which I find rare, they always assure you if it breaks you can bring it back.  EVERYTIME I BRING SOMETHING BACK I GET THE HOME DEPOT RUNAROUND, YOU HAVE TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER.  This is the straw that broke the camel's back for me. I WON'T BE BUYING ANYTHING ELSE FROM HOME DEPOT. I am also cutting up my Home Depot Credit Card and sending it back with a nice long note.
P.S. I used to work for a Home Depot for 10 months, it was the worst job I have ever had.  The stories I could tell about unsatisfied customers.

I'm done with Home Depot!  I purchased 7 Hampton Bay Ceiling fans for our new home a few years ago.  Each one has its own problems with wobbly blades or bulbs that burn out way too fast, but I've got 3 fans now that the motor's go out on and I've gotten nothing but the runaround from C/S.

Screw Home Depot and its crappy products!  I'm done.....

I purchased the Hampton Bay "Click In" installation #757 912.  It states that it takes "only minutes to install".  I had a electrical contractor do the installation.  There were sooooo many problems.  First (and this was an installation in a 12-foot ceiling) the main electrical line would not fit into the ceiling piece because the hole in the mounting bracket was too small for the house wiring.  Then the instructions were incorrect and the electrician had to do just the opposite of the instructions.  Then the light fixture left a hazardous situation in that if the light fixture moved, the chains WILL get tangled around the light bulbs which then means that if the light broke and the metal chains touched the powered light filament, you could get electricuted.  The electrician was very worried about this real possibility.  Once the fan was installed, after 4 hours, it DID NOT WORK!!!  The fan blades would not turn nor would the light turn on!!!  I will never buy another Hampton Bay product.

they do not put odd size bulbs in thier fans its either a medium (edison) base or a candleabra base there is nothing in between. then the wattage depends on the rated wattge of the fixture...you can find that on a sticker located near the lamp socket or look at the bulb you take out

Got a 16" oscillating fan...no instructions! This is just ridiculous! And for all those who get the run around, I know that here in Canada, at least in Quebec, the store AND the manufacturer are BOTH responsible for defects for a year...and they know that but try to dump the customer onto the manufacturer. The store has to give you your money back and guarantee their products. OOOOH this makes me so mad!!!!!!!

Actually Completely untrue.... We have spent three weeks trying to find replacement bulds for model# 23758 - Clearly we already tried an edison base and a candelabra base - neither fit. I agree I will not Purchase hampton Bay again.
