I purchased a ceiling fan and installed per the manufacturers directions. The fan stopped turning after two months of operation. When I called Hampton's customer service they told me sounded like a capacitor problem. They told me they would mail me the part with instructions on how to repair. The part came with no instructions and when I called back the technical rep displayed the rudest behavior that I have ever encountered. I finally informed him to just mail the instructions and I would figure it out. When I opened the fan to repair the capacitor I witnessed a bubble of grey matter which had oozed out of the capacitor. After a week I'm still waiting for the instructions to arrive in the mail. DON'T BUY HAMPTON BAY FANS!

purchased a Hampton bay...paid someone 75.00 bucks to do this...after one week the light stopped working, the fan worked.  Had to call handy man back...said fuse in light was blown....he replaced...it blew again.  WTF?  Anyone have this problem?  Its fan #26613.  I dont install fans, but am not interested in paying him to replace it with a new one...complete Pain.

I have three Hampton Bay ceiling fans with remote controls. They look good but bad quality. All receivers have problems with completely not working or work incorrectly. I am going to return them but leave one still can turn on and off. Thanks for home depot has a good return policy but I still pay labor for install and uninstall.

I purchased within the last two months a Hampton Bay and a Harbor Breeze, both looked identical in the way the fan motor looked and the light kit except the Harbor Breeze added a safety cut off on the light kit in case you put in a larger halogen then recommended.

They both work good...at least for the last 2 months!   Also keep in mind if you want a high quality ceiling fan then you need to buy a mutt American unit and spend an additional $400 or more, but few can afford to that so we're all stuck with the Chinese crap and that can be a hit and miss thing.  By mutt I mean the only fan made in the America's continent is the Matthews Fan, most of the parts are made in South America and some of the parts are made in America, and it's assembled in America.  But even the Chinese made fans quality is based on price...no surprise there.

Home Depot and the others can only tell you what the manufacture tells them, they cannot go outside those perimeters, frustrating as it may be.  But Home Depot and the others all have good return policies so it you don't like it return it.

HELP! I purchased the Hampton Bay Garrison model indoor ceiling 52" fan with 4 lights from Home Depot in Brunswick, OH for $200,. I used it one summer and it failed. Home Depot told me it's an obsolete model
and they no longer carry it or parts and need to contact Hampton Bay. I removed it with help from my very high ceiling wit scafolding. It is very heavy. I'm still looking on how to contact Hampton Bay after several
hours. I'm at a loss on what to do next.

Sorry to say folks but my Hampton Bay fan is running on high speed all the time and the lights flicker. What's sad is that I bought Hampton Bay because I went through the same mess with a Hunter unit. I had to keep buying receivers for their junk and ended up tossing it out to buy a Hampton Bay. Now I'm sure it's a receiver problem on this unit so the problem was just passed to another company. Is there a company out there that makes something good?

Have had a Hampton Bay fan for about 8 years. The bearings went out and obviously I didn't have the receipt. I broke it down and took the motor to Home Depot due to them telling me their top electrician may be able to fix it. When I walked in the store about 6 employees had just walked out of a room as if they were in a meeting. They informed me their electrician was out with an illness and they did not know when he would be back. I informed them of my dilema and one of the managers told one of his employees to walk back to the lighting department and to let me pick out a fan of my choice as a replacement. WOW! No receipt and no proof that I bought it there (although I did). For all the bad NoCustomer Service these days I was very impressed. I have always had excellent Customer Service at my Home Depot and will continue to be a loyal customer due to experiences such as this one.

Bought 3 HB fans for new home... they've been running for about 3 weeks, on one unit, the lights work, but the fan stopped entirely.  No response whatsoever.  I wish I had read this thread prior to buying these junk fans... I find that most of the products Home Depot carry to be sub-par, and Lowe's isn't much better.. very disappointing when I expect a quality unit for the amount we pay for these things... will waste an hour taking down from 12' up, and reinstalling, after some hell raising at home depot, I hope to walk out with a gift card at the least..

The lifetime warranty that HB offers is baloney. I have a fan from 1998 which I found the receipt for and tried to return to HD after it stopped working. They laughed at me and said you have to return to HB. When I called HB from the store the nasty rep said it is not the motor as the fan turns blah blah blah. So the warranty is worthless. Yes it lasted a long time but lifetime means lifetime.

Have been trying for over a hour to find a simple set of blades for a hampton bay
fan.  Have been sent to all different people and have finally gave up.
HAMPTON BAY SUCKS.  No parts are available and the company only exists
    as a home depot name.

My capacitor went out.....not sure why it is not covered under lifetime warranty, but Hampton Bay sold me one for $24 and shipped it to me. The Customer Service representatives were very friendly and helpful. It was an easy install (no instructions were included, so it took some time to figure it out.)  Fan runs slightly quieter and at a higher speed.  Still does not generate much air movement however.  I would give an  A to the customer service reps and a low B for fan performance and reliability.

I purchased the Hampton Bay 52” Huntington III ceiling fan & Hampton Bay 48" Palm Beach Gilded Iron Indoor/Outdoor Ceiling Fan from Home Depot at least 7 years ago if not longer and never had a problem with them. I am only looking for replacement pull chains and the mounting hardware since it got lost in my recent move. I guess I am one of the lucky ones for never having a problem with these awesome fans.

My only concern is finding the replacement parts. I went to Home Depot and the associate told me I could probably get Hampton Bay to send it to me free if I go online and contact them. Well needless to say, Hampton Bay is not an actual company. It is a Home Depot-only brand made by various manufacturers across Asia. So I will contact Home Depot and see what's next, otherwise I can just buy a new fan. I got more than my money's worth on these two already.

Similar situation here.  Have always bought Hunter fans and they run forever.  Bought the 68" Hampton Bay Altura for the size and looks.  It died nearly a year to the day!  Why Home Depot feels the need to get in the fan business is beyond me outside of controlling the margins better.  If your going to get in the fan business do it right.  The Hampton Bay product line in general is a joke in my opinion.  Customer service was polite but won't pay for the part because the credit card I purchased it with has been replaced so I don't have original CC number.  They know the products are faulty and probably know the manufacturing date by the serial number but noooo, gotta have the receipt or original card number.  Ridiculous!  How about build a better product, stand behind it or get out of the private label game.  Bought 2 new fans this week and they ain't Hampton Bay.

Remote control fans are definitely the problem.
They dont work. Technology sucks bad. Bought 4 only 1 still working. And its flaky. Trust me get pull switches...nightmare after nightmare receivers..capacitors..support. fire the manufacturer!!

I bought 7 fans from HD. The two that are remote controlled and on 30 ft ceiling have never worked consistently. It is the 68in Altura Can I circumvent the remote and connect directly to a wall switch.

I have the same 68' altura. And I'm trying to figure out how to wire it and bypass the remote also. I've got power in the main black and white wire but not sure which ones control the motor high speed.

I guess I got what I paid for cheap price for a cheap fan. I will be replacing the three I replaced  in the bedrooms with something better (Hunter?) funny how the old crappy 10 plus fan in my garage I did not replace still cranks and yes it was made in China also guess even crap from China can get crappier!

Bought 68" Altura Nov. 2014. Came to activate it Feb 2017 after winter of non use and would not operate. Receiver had gone bad. Purchased replacement from warranty dept for $44, installed it and fixed problem. Chinese part lasted just beyond 2 year warranty. Typical imported, low quality merchandise. Please buy MADE IN THE USA.

I have three of the same  Altura 68 ceiling fans all of them have gone out. I think it's the remote sensor that is either configuration problems or is not functioning. I'd hate to have to buy an install three more fans. Hopefully there is help out there
