I purchased a ceiling fan and installed per the manufacturers directions. The fan stopped turning after two months of operation. When I called Hampton's customer service they told me sounded like a capacitor problem. They told me they would mail me the part with instructions on how to repair. The part came with no instructions and when I called back the technical rep displayed the rudest behavior that I have ever encountered. I finally informed him to just mail the instructions and I would figure it out. When I opened the fan to repair the capacitor I witnessed a bubble of grey matter which had oozed out of the capacitor. After a week I'm still waiting for the instructions to arrive in the mail. DON'T BUY HAMPTON BAY FANS!

    Trying to install a Hampton Bay Garrison ceiling fan # 640-656. The instruction on page 8 of the install instructions are somewhat vague regarding "Attaching the Fan Blades". Cannot find any screw holes to attach the Blade Arm. Please clarify

    Hi I purchased  a hampton bay celling fan from home depot in valdosta, GA
    it is one of the more expensive ones. I paid over $200.00 for this fan.
    has the 5 wooden blades. It stopped working in about 4 months. They gave me one in its place. even though they did not won't to. well today this one has did the same way. It just simply stopped.This makes 2 of these fans from home depot in just a little over a year.Some one may can afford this but I can't.
    Thanks,

    I recently had to replace the pull chain switch on my Hampton Bay EF200DA-52.  It is a 3-speed.  There were no online references easily found documenting the wires black, yellow, orange, and purple.  Here is the correct configuration for anyone who needs it.

    L=black (this is the hot power)
    1=orange (high speed)
    2=purple (medium speed)
    3=yellow (low speed)

    If you have a reverse (which most do with an up/down switch on the fan side) it is up for winter-reverse and down-forward for summer.  An easy way to remember this is cold-north and warmer-south.

    Hello, I have an older fan my wire colors are BLK,Grey,Brown,Purple, My new switch is marked L,1,2,3 when i hook it up it only has High and Low nothing else works

    k brown goes to #2, purple goes to #3, black goes to L and grey goes connect to 1. If that doesn't work for u it could be that the switch might not be compatible and u might have to call the manufacture.

    I had a capacitor go out on a HB Antigua fan and talked with Home Depot on April 21 to order a capacitor.  Was told it was on back order for about a month.  I called the contact number today and they have a 4 and a 5 wire capacitor.  My fan is at a vacation home 100 miles away and looks like I will have to drive there to see if the old capacitor is 4 or 5 wires, call the company back and get in line for back order from China to get it.  Is anybody visiting China any time soon, it may be worth your time to bring a suitcase full back and sell to people when fans go out and it is near 100 degrees.  NO MORE HAMPTON BAY FANS FOR ME.

    I had the displeasure of trying trying to install a Hampton Bay Cherokee.  Who builds the s#(#?  I mean, seriously...  I have never seen something so convoluted and HARD to install.  The Home Depot employee indicated to me that it the tube was removable so it would become a lower profile celing hugger.  Nope... It sure doesn't seem to work that way.  And assembing the damn thing as just amazingly horrible.  I am taking it back. I won't be buying any more of their fans.

    Another Hampton Bay ceiling fan not turning.
    We have 2 of the Windward III Gossamer fans, one works fine but the other stopped turning.

    From the posts here, seems like the capacitor. Now the trick is to find a Home Depot "care" person to help me !! if you are on here, can you please let me know how to get ahold of you ?

    thanks!

    We purchased an outdoor Hampton Bay Ceiling fan for our screened porch. It's not used very often either and the fan was working perfectly but now the one blade has come off and cannot be put back on as the hole for the screw has been stripped.  I hate to throw a perfectly good fan out but the hole is on the casing of the motor so not sure if there's a way to fix.  Seems like there'd be a way to fix it but I'm certainly not finding a way.

    Any thoughts before it goes in the garbage.....

    About the same here.  Cant jsut replace the lught switch on my month old fan, have to get the stupid fixture replaced as a unit.  Stupid.  Chinese junk crap.  Home Depot should be renamed China Depot.  The metal is cheap potmetal and the threads are rough and hard to adjust.  Cheap but you get what you pay for.

    Bought Two Hampton Bay ceiling fans, two years later both remote systems died within a week of each other. No warren on these, only the motor. The one i just removed the remote and threw it out, which was actually a waste of garbage space. The other has a built in receiver, they want $40 for a new receiver. A replacement fan is $140 but again in two years $40. Hampton Bay and Home Depot suck. That is why I have converted to Lowes and have never looked back..............

    The answer is made in China. Cheap labour cheap parts. And no after service.
