This is a total scam.  The same thing happend to me.  I was charged 14.95 and hope I don't get charged that anymore because I am not going to pay it. I called my credit card company they said they could not block or stop any future charges I would have to either cancle the membership or cancle the card and start another one.  A lady told me to call the 1-866-883-3309 # so I did to cancle.  The guy I spoke with told me there is a monthly fee for security monitoring and how important it is in case someone goes to the hospital and uses my social security number.  How would anyone get a hold of my social-security number unless they are giving it out.  I wish I never gave them my social security information in the first place.  The biggest mistake of my life and a lesson to be learned.  This is major fraud.

I enrolled in the free credit report program. The next day I was given the opportunity to unsubscribe my program. I did so and have been charged every month since, I want to be released from any obligations to MNI credit report .com. What is the best was to accomplish unsubscribing my program?

Today, I noticed a 1.00 charge on my online bank statement.  I know that I did not order a credit report because I have truecredit.com.  I called and the CSR did ask me for information, which I gave to her because I had already made the decision to cancel my debit/check card.  She admitted that it was a fraud case, transferred me to their fraud division.  They said that the person who requested the report was supposed to have used my name, but had a different ss# and dob.  She recommended that I contact my bank.  I did and I cancelled my current card and will receive a new one in 3-5 days.  It had to be a sales clerk sent I haven't ordered anything online in recent weeks.

The exact same thing happened to me.  I did not give my social.  I don't know how they got my information at all.  I NEVER went to their site.  This charge just appeared on my statement for 29.95.  Now I am scared about identity theft!  I did give my birthday and name and address.  My bank said this happening alot.  They said they are even so slick as to change from charging it as a debit to running it through as and echeck and I need to cancel my card, change my bank account and sign a dispute form and they will refund my money.  The bank said if I don't they will continue to take money even though they said it was cancelled. AAARRRGGHHHH!

I caught mine at a pending charge and contacted my bank.  They instructed me to do the same thing as in try to cancel through the report company.  Contacted the MNI creditreport.com @ 1-866-883-3309 and they asked generic information Name, DOB and of course account # without exp and CID #.  They explained information did not match what was placed on order so they say they cancelled order and transferred me to Fraud dept who asked me for SS# which I refused.  She said she could do nothing without SS# so I hung up. Called my credit card Fraud dept. and they were very helpful.  Had to change actual acct. # to account just incase charges came through they would be credited back.  Bank of America so far has really stepped up to the plate in helping me out.  Hope it all works out!
Unsure how they got my credit card # because I don't use this particular account online.  Crafty punks they are...

The exact thing happened to me...but I didn't get a credit report.  I pay monthly for privacy matters.  MNI*creditreport.com is what appeared on my online bank account.  They are "pending" charges.  I tried to call my bank, and they said they can't dispute the charges as they are "pending" and they suggested canceling my debit card also.  I was charged 29.95 then 1.00.  This is UNREAL!!  I'm going to call that 1-866-883-3309 # and try to resolve this.  Now I have to notify Privacy matters of fraud alert.  UGH.

I got the same charge of $14.95 from MNI*CreditReport.com on my CC. Never had any business with this company. Contacted the number listed on the charge 866-883-3309 and was told my CC number was compromised since the name on the account had nothing to do with me. I am not sure if it is this company intentionally charges people or some crooks using their website to test the CC numbers (stole from someone or randomly generated) to see if the transaction goes thru. Either way, for your own protection, contact your own bank (issues your CC or Debit Card) to terminate current account and get a new account number. Then call this company to ask for refund. My experience with their customer service is fine. They said they would refund the amount to my account and close the unauthorized account opened with my CC number. Hope this is helpful for anyone is or will be affected.

Got billed for the 14.95. Disputed it with my bank who then said I "knowingly participated in the transaction". Which I know is false. Called the 1866-883-3309, gave them my info to which they said the info they had on file does not match and that I should be receiving a refund, as well as them blocking my info/ #'s from their system for future use. Called the bank back immediately to give them the news & cancel the card. I will be monitoring my accts daily for the next few weeks now. Stay vigilant folks...

I got the exact same scam. I am on hold with MNI*creditreport.com as i type this. I have credit monitoring service with truecredit.com and was happy with the service. 3 months ago MNI started charging me 14.95 twice per month. I contacted truecredit and cancelled my service because i thought they triple billed me. I went to the bank and they pointed out that it was 2 different companies. The bank told me to call MNI and I did. the customer service rep asked for my name and social. I refused the social and she looked up my account by name. She told me there were two accounts recently created using my credit card but they did not have my social security # so they got no report on me. I asked how it was  a credit reporting service was ordered with the exact same details and credit card as the account I have at truecredit.com and the lady from MNI says they are not related. I called truecredit.com and they say that they are in fact related and share employees. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH EITHER OF THESE SCAMMERS!!!!

Similar to above messages, I started getting $14.95 charges to my credit card out of the blue.  I had absolutely no previous contact with this company.  Like a number of you, my first instinct was to call their toll free number.  Wrong approach, I soon realized -- fortunately for me, it was after hours and my call did not go through.  THIS IS OUT AND OUT FRAUD, for heavens sake.  If someone steals something and for whatever reason leaves you their number, do you call them up and negotiate with them?  Of course not, you call the police.  Assuming you did not give this scum your credit card number yourself, you account has been breached.  It is a hassle, but there is nothing to do but to call your credit card issuer, report fraud, and request a new card number.  Don't be wishywashy about this.  Just because you have MNI's number it doesn't mean you should call them.  It will just give them an opportunity to mess with you and maybe phish some more information out of you.  Maybe the next illegal charge to your account is going to be a round-trip tour to Tahiti.  REMEMBER:  this is a criminal act you are dealing with.  You do not want to negotiate with MNI -- there is nothing to negotiate.  What you want is a credit from your bank.  Your bank will protect you if your are firm with them and tell them that your account has been breached and you want a new card.  If the bank has to reverse some charges to your account, they will send you a fraud report to fill out.  Be sure to fill it out and return it to them promptly so that they can pursue this scum and put them out of business.

I have used their free service for years but noticed that I was charged $12.95 this time around. I called the 866 number (listed on my credit card statement) and got right to a service representative. She explained this and that and how when I requested a free report I was enrolled in a thing for 7 days - blah, blah, blah. I kept my cool and insisted that I hadn't requested this paid service and I wanted a refund. It took some time to get around her chatter but I stuck to my guns (remaining polite all the while) and insisted on a refund. She finally relented and gave me a "courtesy refund" of the $12.95. Give it a try, and good luck!

I also got scammed on craigslist when the person asked me to do a free credit report and when i trie to send a reply email, the domain was unfound. That was when I started looking online feeling like something was wrong.

I will try calling the 866-883-3309 number tomorrow morning and will also contact my credit card to tell them that I've been scammed and for them not to accept any transactions from them.

did you manage to get the membership cancelled without any further credit charges?

this exact same thing happened unbeknownst to me! found an ad on craigslist, was told in an email to get a free credit report from creditreport.com, but upon sending a reply to the email address, found that the domain was invalid. I was so worried that i googled creditreport.com because i just gave them my credit card number and luckily i happened to find this site.

first thing's first, call your bank's fraud department and speak to them! best thing to do is shut down your credit card and get a new one. bank of america is extremely helpful in this area. dont waste your time trying to speak to frauds. ive definitely learnt my lesson- nothing is free in life.

Saw this charge on my credit card.  Called Chase to report it.  They routed me to the Fraud departement.  I explained the situation.  They closed my account, refunded the charges, and opened a new account on the spot.  No questions asked.  New cards should be here in a couple days.  Fantastic customer service and literally took less than 15 minutes of my time to have a resolution 100% to my satisfaction.  Don't bother fighting with the merchant if your credit card company has your back.
