1800SkyRide is a telemarketing fraud. They sell trips and sporting events that do not exist. The company operates under different names:

Hot Air Balloon Team

They refuse to give refunds to customers, there are hundreds of unresolved complaints with BBB. Stay away from this company. When a customer wants a refund because most of the time they were sold something that did not exist or was given false information on locations, they refuse to give it and offer a different activity which again is either a fraud or hundreds of miles away from the client.

I've launched complaints with BBB, FTC, and The Attorney General. If you are reading this because you paid this company money and want it back, send your complaint to the above places as well. I hope we can beat this company if we do it together.

    This sounds so much like out trip with them.  Was your guy's name, Mark?  We also had to drive around, even to stop at 7-Eleven to buy our celebration champaign, then we helped blow up the balloon (his helper didn't show up). Our trip was only about 15-20 minutes long before we landed in someone's front yard because the winds weren't right and we were going to be shot down for going over Camp Perry airspace.  Still trying to get a redo on the flight as he told us to go ahead and sign his receipt so he could get paid from corporate but that he would make sure we would got a reflight.  Now we never get a retuned phone call from him or his company.  DONT'T BOOK WITH THEM!!

    I too booked with 1-800 Sky-ride for a gift for my wifes birthday- we were scheduled for a Saturday and arrived at the time specified. waited for 30 minutes for Mark Nelson to show up. when he did show up we had to wait for his assistance to show up. well when he did show I had to assist in loading the balloon onto the trailer then we had to get in his assistance SUV which reaped of Cig. smoke and drive for 30 minutes to a 7-11 and pick up our bottle of celebration champaign (high quality)we then drove around for another 30 minutes looking for a place to launch. he finally decided to try a golf course which they granted permission to inflate the balloon whereas I and my wife had to assist in inflating. If I had wanted to do this I could have just given my wife the money and I could have gone to work. We took over and crossed the golf course and a few  farms then he decided that the winds were not right and decided to end the ride at that time. We landed in a yard of a private residence and called his helper to come a assist recovering the balloon. anyway after all this he asked me to sign his paper work so he could get paid and wrote on my ticket - REFLIGHT- I have bben in touch with him and the company and the only thing the customer Rep wll tell me is "sorry but you signed the slip that the ride was complete" there is nothing we can do. After several calls to Mark Nelson he finally text me and said he had an opening THANKSGIVING DAY morning - with all the family here I.m supposed to leave for a chance flight. I let him know that it was not acceptable and let me know another date - that was November and have not heard back from anyone. Somehow I feel this is the same comapny that does the TIME share projects. I do think the company is crooked adnd should be invistigated by the AG of Virginia. BBB should clamp down on this company and forbid them from operating in Virginia.

      Each Balloon adventure is different.

      It's certainly not perfect, we are subject to the weather and always
      Put safety first.  Sky rides is a responsible business the problem is
      When you go on a adventure some are better then others. The weather and wind is pretty much the luck of the passengers , some are great
      Some are not so great. It has a lot to do with luck and weather.

      As far as Virginia Balloons we don't sell very many rides each year
      Maybe a dozen we fly for Skyrides and really enjoy working with them.
      I don't call canceled Sky ride passengers up after they have been canceled
      Simply because they fly In other places and the reservation is secured by SkyRides who pays us.

      Ballooning is a sport that your either a hero or a ham
      At this point this client should go back to Skyrides

      We believe in the Joy of Flying and at this point I don't think it
      Is a good idea for us to fly him.   I think we will pass

        Mark, just curious, since you did put "reflight" on the receipt, do you intend to honor that?  Certainly, I expected an adventure but don't feel it even came close.  And that wasa lot of money for a 15 minute ride, and hauling the baloon around and helping inflate it, should not have been part of our adventure.

    I just got ripped too, I explained that I was military and that I was only in town for the weekend. The guy acted like he was working at the actual business at the skydive place and said he was going to make a jump go on. So to my suprise when I got their, of course the planes were grounded due to winds. I was told any cancellation within 72 hours had a penalty but now when I call I was "explained the no refund policy". Thanks but no thanks, I completely have been burned and they dont give a &$%*#$ so dont believe their lies or cleaning up their business, they dont care and you dont need them!! Call the companies direct and book it yourself! THEY ARE A FRAUD!!!!!!!!!! Now I go back overseas and dont get to use my 2 jumps I paid for. Thanks for your service skyride!

        Hard to say what the legal name would be seeing how they change their name 20 times, who know what their real names are?  I am pursuing my refund as well.  Purchased tickets for my husband last year, went to book this trip for him last week, website shut down, no response to emails and of course left several messages with no return phone calls.  I am in the process of writing several letters and will be mailing them out to everyone in my state and theirs they will not get away with this.  They took something away from my husband, all I want is to redeem what I paid for, not get thrown into some fraud of a company just out to take money and not make good on the product they are selling.

      My husband received a big gift certificate for this company for his 50th birthday. For 2 months we have tried to get in touch with ANYBODY from this company to schedule a trip. Nobody ever answers the phone, and our messages have not been returned. Their website takes you nowhere.

      If you are serious, I am in.  Keep posting here on how to become part of the lawsuit or a number to call at your law office.  I am so mad about this scam.  It is ashame there are such people in the world because Hot Air Ballooning is beautiful and is probably a legit business....

    I bought a gift certificate for my son.  He kept calling the place in Maryland but they just kept cancelling his appoint for a tandem skydive.  Eventually the certificated expired.  I was told by the company 1 800 skydive that they could not extend the date.  I have put several complaints in with the BBB but never hear a thing back.  Also 100 sky dive will not tell me what cc I charged this to.  They will only tell me the amount and that is that.  I was told that I could report them to whomever I wanted to.  It did not matter.  IN other words, we have your money and will not give you the money or the service.  They got me for over 300.00
