I am not sure that this is the name of the company because it is very difficult to understand the name of the company. This company has called me 2 times and left 15 minutes of messages on my answering machine. He repeats his name (which I cannot understand) and his phone number over and over again for 15 minutes.........I called them back the first time approximately a month ago and told him do not call again, and today I received the same 15 minute message. He is not calling for me, but and I am not going to put up with the harassment. The phone number that he give to call back is 1-800 -335-0872. I DO NOT WANT ANYMORE COLLECTION CALLS. I HAVE GOOD CREDIT AND I DO NOT CARE WHO HE IS CALLING FOR HE HAS NO RIGHT TO CONTINUE TO CALL AND HARASS ME! Please let me know what else I can do to get him to stop!

Complaints against some debt collectors include harassment for unowed debts.  Maybe you want to play "Santa" to everyone asking you for money, but many people regard illegal collection of unowed "debt" to be criminal activity.

The debt collector has now been given notice, and now has reason to know, that such calls to employees are not allowed by their employer.  If calls continue, the employee could sue them for violating FDCPA.

I think all of you need better things to do. At 18 I was pushed by my personal banker into getting a credit card. They told me it was essential if I ever planned on getting a car or my own place. I applied and was given a credit card with a $9000 limit. Thinking I was being smart, I lowered the limit to $5000. I discovered that having a car, insurance, and rent could not be covered by my $400 income a month. I got behind and used the credit card to pay for a lot of my needs and wants, sad to say. In less than a year I maxed the card out. Interest built up and I owed almost $7000 dollars. I, too, have been in between jobs and gotten behind. Yet, with no one elses money but my own, I have only $500 dollars left on my debt. I am not yet 20, I have a beautiful home, two vehicles, and a job that kicks me in the ass. Paying your bills isn't hard. Debt collectors have a job just the same as anyone else. If I am able to figure this all out, then a bunch of irresponsible, IGNORANT adults should too.

Have been receiving numerous calls from this company, had no idea who they were.  Received yesterday a notice in the mail saying I owe a debt on a Chase credit card and I have no record of...I went back 3 yrs in records and could not find this card at all.  I've read several forums or sites that say this is a rip off company...if they can provide me with proof that this is my credit card I will work with them but until then, screw them!!!

They have a high rate of complaints of harassing calls to the wrong party, as well as complaints of attempts to collect on unowed "debts".  They appear to be buying old debt and using sloppy skip-tracing to send dunning letters to whoever they find with a similar name.

Send them a letter, mailed certified return receipt requested, disputing the alleged debt and requesting that they obtain proof from the original creditor and send it to you, in accordance with FDCPA.

If they continue to harass you after you have verified they received your dispute letter, when they have not proved you owe this alleged "debt", or they damage your credit for a debt you don't owe, file complaints against them with FTC, your state Attorney General, and the Pennsylvania AG.

Then find an attorney with experience in FDCPA and FCRA litigation.  Both laws allow courts to award damages and attorney fees, so you should be able to find an attorney to take such cases on contingency.  You might try www.naca.net

this is a very bad idea.... today banks could care less if you file... just offer your settlement, they will take your offer

You people kill me..... If your account is out with a 3rd party you can save lots and lots of money. The 3rd party makes its money by getting one to settle, or make payments. Just because a person falls on hard times does not mean the money you have borrow goes away, banks can not write off debt because of "hard times" but a 3rd party can reduce payments, settlem and settle in multiple parts. The longer you go without paying the more risk you are in... Whoever said call the own at home is outright nuts! That is harassment outright! You made the debt and you want to call the owner of the 3rd party, at home? Not smart at all. This 3rd party collections company will work with you. I bet you can get a settlement as low as 30 percent if you call and talk like a normal everyday person. Nothing but bad ideas above!

Someone is funny- just tell the 3rd party it's the wrong number - that simple

The main complaints against this company are that they call the wrong people at levels of calls that are abusive and harassing, that they keep doing so when requested to stop, and that they attempt to collect from people who do not owe the alleged "debt".

This pattern of complaints, which is common among a number of debt collectors, suggests problems with compliance and training, and management that tolerates abusive and deceptive employees, leading to violations of law, specifically FDCPA, FCRA, and TCPA.

It is also a pattern of behavior that leads to defrauding of consumers.

Recently, Allied Interstate settled with FTC for engaging in the same pattern of illegal behavior, including collecting debts from people who did not owe them, and failing to verify they had the right person.

Debt Collector Will Pay $1.75 Million to Settle FTC Charges
Ignored Consumers’ Disputes Without Checking Its Information for Accuracy
    ...
“Debt collectors had better make sure their information is accurate, or they could end up paying a big penalty,” said David Vladeck, Director of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection. “There is no excuse for trying to collect debt from someone if you can’t confirm that they actually owe it.”

They must not like giving out their fax number. Not listed anywhere on their website or the BBB and had to call the main number twice to get it.

This company MRS Associates have changed names various times so you can not follow legal actions against them. They are in Cherry Hill just off of Route 70 East. If what you are saying is true then this company is breaking FDCPA laws and you need to call the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint immediately. Call your credit agencies and make sure they have not reported debt to them. Once you tell MRS Associates or any other company  over the phone to stop calling you they legally can not call you back ever. The law is they have to put you on a do not call list immediately and never call you back. This company is not allowed to ask you for any personal documents such as death certificates, divorce decrees, medical records, or any-other personal documents at all ever. this is a direct violation of the privacy  act set up in this country to protect your personal information. Collections agencies have high employee turn over so I hate to tell you but most fraud is done by people who work for these kinds of companies to make a fast buck in commission at your expense then they can steal tons of personal information and sell it on the street.  This company does not stand above the laws set up in our country that protect you. All the documents you send to this company can be seen by every single employee and is not held confidential at all. Do you realize that your personal information is now in India? Did you know that India collections agencies do not have any privacy laws set up to protect your personal information  not even your social security number. If the company in India wants to sell your information to the highest bidder they are allowed to. WAKE UP PEOPLE!  No one is allowed to call you more then once a day and if they do they also can not call you after certain hours(each state has laws that prevent companies from calling you after hours call your state office and find out what your state ok to call times are. No collection agency is allowed to call your employer! EVER!
INVEST IN A RECORDER!!! Once you have them on tape then you have a win / win in court! Go strait to your local court house and file a complaint. Go to your local police station and file a harassment charge right away. Do not leave without a copy for your own records. If you can't pay for a lawyer then the court will appoint you one.
STOP COMPLAINING IF YOU HAVE NO INTENSIONS OF STANDING UP TO PEOPLE AND COMPANIES THAT BREAK THE LAW!

You must of had a really good life so far with no money problems, no hard times, not getting laid off from your job, not a major car accident that put you out of work for months.....it's not that people don't want to pay off their debt, but sometimes, and especially as this time, living pay check to pay check is harder then ever. When your spouse leaves you and your childen without any notice and you haven't heard anything from him in months, then yeah paying off debt and just regualar bills is hard on wages. Don't forget food goes up, gas prices go up, everyday items that you need for your household goes up, wait so does the kilowatts for electricity goes up because the company has raised the price everyyear, but yet most companies have a freeze on giving raises and bonuses because the economy is getting worse. It's not that debt collectors aren't willing to work with you it is that there are rude. I'm willing to give you extra money, some months that may be only 20 dollars, but that is not good enough for you....so they treat you like dirt.

it all starts with you so if you owe $1000.00 no im not going to take your $20.00 take or leave it offer i going to press to see if you can do more im going to give you opt. to help get the matter clsed out. your attitude is this is all i have to gve so you should believe me sorry the world dont work like tht. ill take the $20.00 whn i gven you all the opt to get the matter clsed out and you took the time to consider thm thn i will say ok  but not befoe i put it all out there. its nt that we as collector are cold hearted but we are not goint to take penny just because u said tht all u have treat us with respect and u will get the same in return we are human too.

A number of complaints against this company are reporting they ignore demands to cease calling wrong numbers.  If it was as simple as you claim, people wouldn't be reporting problems.

So if you like harassment over someone else's alleged "debts", or maybe you are just lonely, just keep answering the calls.

I have been recieving phone calls from these people as well. They have been blowing up my business line which I have owned for half a year now. We are a newer busienss and do not owe any debts yet they keep calling our business phone to collect a debt we do not have. One of their numbers left a message (which they never do) and was making obscene moaning noises and then laughing with each other. Very unprofessional and very not appreciated. I am wondering if this company is even real.
