    To All Guruaid affected,

Please file for charge backs with your credit card companies as much as possible. That's the only way to get Guruaid to it's knees. As it will help Credit card companies and banks to stop processing payments for Guruaid and take away their merchant rights.

I called BitDefender Customer Service and thought I was speaking to BitDefender employees until after I payed $159.99 for 1 computer and $100.00 even for each additional computer, (3 of them) totalling 4 computers and $459.99. My other computers are working fine, as far as I know, but this laptop has not been working correctly...TODAY!!! exactly 1 week after I spent 9 hours on the phone with them in one day!!! I am about to call them now, for assistance. I will update my remarks after speaking with them.

Exactly the same thing happened to me fortunately I did not go for my other computers. This more or less confirms rogue employees inside bit defender because it was the bitdefender  chat line re an installation problem on my laptop that got me into this mess. I am trying to stop payment for service not rendered.

Guruaid is and PLEASE TRUST ME, a total scam.  I too thought I was calling Microsoft as they are on top of search page.  You have NO idea what they did to me, charged 169, it is now past the 30 days for refund; they not only did not fix the issue called about, they deleted, in days of working, many files I use and need badly by mistake; it is SO bad SO very bad and I am an extremely honest congenial person.  They should be put out of business; I am older so don't know what can be done but I will see to it I leave negative comments wherever I can. They have ruined my computer and each and EACH of MANY service techs had a different solution suggestion outcome, no consistency in their thinking; some were need a new computer, need a external hard drive or flash drive to purchase, get a new operating disc, computer is corrupt, computer is not corrupt, one said he lost some of my files but NO apology for it.  It is a nightmare, I know of no one who would go through what I went through so many days; it was because I had paid the high fee and thought I had no other choice as I can't keep paying for solutions that don't work. Again TRUST ME or you will be sorry, DO NOT do business with this company!

I went through the same things. I called them because I had to renew my Kaspersky subscription. This was possible online, however, when I tried to put in the license key after purchasing the renewal, I got a message which said that the license key had expired. After trying countless number of fixes, I called the support number for Kaspersky, that's when I got Guru Aid. They told me the same bull, that my computer was infected with all kinds of viruses and they had to clean the registry. I purchased their 169.99 plan. My computer is now worst than ever. Last week, they put me in the safe mode and couldn't get me out  of it.
Do these people still have access to my computer. This is a huge SCAM. Is there any  way to get a refund and to assure that they are not monitoring every move I make. I'm seriously considering going to the AG.

I HAD ISSUES WITH MY COMPUTER AND CONTACTED MALWAREBYTES.  INSTEAD I GOT SOME ONE FROM GURU AID.  I WAS TALKED INTO A 3YR PLAN FOR $399.99 AFTER A VERY LONG CONVERSATION.  I THOUGHT THEY WERE AFFILIATED WITH MALWAREBYTES WHICH SCANS YOU COMPUTER FOR VARIOUS PROBLEMS.  THE NEXT DAY I HAD SEVERAL ISSUES AFTER THEY WERE TO HAVE CORRECTED MY COMPUTER PROBLEMS.  I CALLED EACH ONE OF THE TELEPHONE NUMBERS THEY HAD LISTED TO REACH THEM.  I CALLED EACH NUMBER SEVERAL TIMES AND ALL I GOT WAS A RECORDED ANNOUNCEMENT "IF YOU ARE A CUSTOMER PRESS 1 IF NOT PRESS 2.

I TRIED PRESSING ONE SEVERAL TIMES AS WELL AS THE NUMBER 2.  THE PHONE WOULD THEN GO DEAD AND I NEVER GOT TO SPEAK TO A LIVE PERSON.

TODAY I SENT THEM AN E-MAIL INDICATING THEY ARE SCANNERS AND I NOTIFIED THE PROPER AUTHORITIES AND MY CREDIT CARD COMPANY.  THIS AFTERNOON I GOT TWO PHONE CALLS FROM THEM AND REFUSED TO SPEAK TO THEM.  THEY SUCK.

and what are we doing about it? replies to SCAM
they got me for 100, i was pissed, cancelled the charges thru my bank. what are some of these large companies these (bernie madoffs) being charged or how are they being dealt with. example: norton, mcafee, microsoft, etc, etc. we are being screwed by this firm. im staying US of A, even if it costs me more. in my opinion, remember this, if you get good service, you tell 1 person, if you get screwed you tell the world.

I talked with GuruAid yesterday. I couldn't get my new Kaspersky security to renew. I called a 1-877 number and got connected to an Indian man. I fell for the "logmein123.com and he took over my computer and told me I had a lot of problems...8,032 to be exact.  The weird thing is in the background was so much noise...people shouting $400 or $120!  I said it didn't sound very professional. Now I understand, as the scammers sold a clean up fee they shouted out the amount in celebration!!
Now for the funny part.....the guy was so intent on showing me how legit he was. He said he would show me  their webpage.  But instead he put up a a page of girlie pictures.  I said, "which one are YOU?"  He replies, "Oh sorry!" and then the GuruAid website appears.  REALLY?  GET OFF my computer!!  I took my computer to the local tech geek and for $70 he cleaned it up and did my updates.
P.S.  I told the Indian man I couldn't decide. He is suppose to call me back tomorrow.  I will be ready for him!!
    ha-ha!

I just had the same thing... I thought I was contacting McAfee until about 25 minutes into it I discovered it was something called GuruAid and he already had control of my PC. He tried hard to sell me on 'the plan' while he was running a diagnostic on my computer.  I refused and thought I'd never get off the phone. It's a hard sell. I renewed my McAfee 51 days ago, got a receipt and everything but apparently it never installed so I've been unprotected and now he says it won't download unless I do this cleanup for $169. I'll call the IT dept in my company first.  I thought I had called McAfee......not a happy camper.

I guess I am the lucky one.
I ran a Norton program (can't remember witch one) and at the end somehow of running the Norton, I got someone saying they where with Norton, then they said they were not. They told me if I had been to an
adult site, I said yes. (my bad). When the tech can on I told him if i should use my Norton ghost to an earlier
time, he didn't say anything but started working on my computer remotely. When I look at my credit card
it was $169, I called the credit card people and asked for a number to call. When I called them approx -
10 days later. I told them that I told the tech about having about two month worth of backups and that I could of accessed and it would of been quicker that the 3-4 hours on the phone with India.  I told them that it was not good business and that they could pro-rate the ten days or so. I looked them up on Google about 3 or 4 pages deep and that is when lost the warm fuzzy feeling. I told them again that I told them I have Ghost,
and the tech guy knew this. I was very business like. When I said I would do a charge back on them if they did not resolve this. I filled out some dispute papers from my credit card. After a month and 3 weeks my credit card was credited by Guruaid for 169.00.  I lucked out...

Yes, I got scammed similarly. I was working with bit defender chat about an installation problem and. Then lead to believe It was necessary to put on a technition. The rest is history, someone in bit defender scammed me into  gauaid chat somehow and now I am out about $170. All of you are getting scammed similarly
Forget about the so called friendly refund line to this gaur aid outfit, they never answer.

These scams being worked via legitimate companies are traps for first timers because of the nature and thinking I was dealing via bit defender I neglected to search for customer comments. Chat lines can provide a nice service but from now on I am a very wary consumer.

Hope this helps to stop the scam setups between legitimate companies such as bit defender and probably rogue employees who slip the contact to garuaid, masters at scamming people.

I also got scammed.  Called the # on a Kaspersky website for Tech Support.  Whole thing was weird.  He was in India and in a noisy room.  Took control of my computer and didn't ask me first.  Just gave orders.  Unfortunately I didn't realize for some minutes that this couldn't be right.  Told me I had 271 viruses, 11,000 "junk", and a DRUM hijacker.  Told me my computer had been hi-jacked and anti-virus disabled.   Couldn't answer the question of when...said the cause was my going to an "inappropriate website".  ???  Then did a high pressure attempt to sell me a "fix" that would not only fix the anti-virus problem but do all the tune up, hard drive clean...whatever.  Because my computer was running way too slow.  When I wouldn't purchase he quickly hung up, but did say "good bye".  Next day I went to a reputable computer tech and learned the computer was just fine.  They fixed my anti-virus problem.  There had been no viruses or junk and no disabled anti-virus.  I had been scammed by this call to what was a legit. Kaspersky website.  Where is the protection in that?

What I am most concerned about here with these comments, is that NO ONE is taking is action against this company by reporting internet fraud or filing any police report or federal invesitgation reports against this company.  Everyone just seems content is telling their long sad, sob story of how they have been duped.  AMERICANS when will you wake up and stand for justice!
