These problems do not just occur with US based firms.
Last Wednesday I phoned BT (British Telecom) on 100 to discuss a problem with Adobe Flash software on my computer. I was put on hold while they passed me to their technical division. Next a person, who sounded Indian, replied. "We are Guruaid based in Mumbai, and we work for BT's clients on software problems". Since I had already dealt with BTs own staff at their Indian call centres following Broadband difficulties I was not unduly surprised.
I explained the problem, and allowed him to control my computer. "Ah, I see what's wrong! I can deal with it right now, but only if you take out an annual contract with us for £112 [the equivalent of US$169]." "How can I confirm that you are BTs official agents?" "Call them back when we've finished this call."
I paid up and after 3+ hours I was told the problem was resolved and I should reboot my computer. It was 11 pm by then so I left it 'til the next day.
On logging on next day I found there was no improvement, and there were several new icons on my screen. On phoning BT's operator again on 100 I was told they had no software agents or staff in India, but they had their own people in Newcastle in the UK, and I was put me through to them. Guruaid were unknown to them. In a couple of sessions they removed Guruaid's unnecessary software, and analysed my probem - Adobe Flash Player had updated their software, and my elderly computer could not cope. They said Guruaid will have known that straight away. I am pursuing a recovery from my bank.
The real worry is not the amounts involved, which are not crippling, but that these crooks seem able to listen in and then take over calls to huge companies like Microsoft and BT. Our UK Serious Fraud Office are unlkiely to take action because the amounts are small, but I am pursuing it with some influential contacts.

not sure what guruaid customer service bloke has been smoking, but i googled "avast contact" and these guys came top of the search so i quite rightly thought that when i rang the number that i was getting through to avast anti virus, not so! i got through to someone who took control of my pc and proceeded to download variou suspect programmes onto my pc, i was then pushed into buying a "3 year plan" when i refused that offer i was told it would be a "one off" paryment of £69 for the work he had done!! what a laugh! i pulled the plug on my router and hung up, and i would advise anyone who has the mis fortune of getting through to thid outfit to do the same.

i got duped into paying for a 3yr contract.  naturally no problems in the 30 day period.  in the last 3 months i have called them at least 6 times for the same trouble.  every tech i had said they would fix it and it won't happen again.  not.  it has happened every time.  and sometimes in as little as a few hours.  was on the phone with them for 4 hrs today with the same trouble.  one hour later the same trouble was back.  too late to get my money back.  a waste of money and time.  don't really think they know what they are doing.

Whatever it is MR. Mrs. Ms. or M/s. GuruAid Customer Support...SO MUCH FOR WRITING ABOUT YOURSELF.

Truth will be truth, however hard you try to hide it.
And the truth is YOU BUGGERS ARE BLOODY CHEATERS, YOU @$$#0!3$
Stop cheating people just for the sake of few dollars.

Recently, I have been seeing your stupid fake support calling people and pretending to be from Microsoft, Google, Norton, Mcafee and god knows what other Companies.

What's your Next trick, huh.... SIR/MA'M, WE ARE CALLING FROM "NASA" ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT.....WE'VE COME TO KNOW THAT YOUR CAR NEEDS SOME MAINTENANCE AND WE CAN HELP YOU BY SIMPLY CONNING YOU AND TAKING YOUR MONEY FROM YOUR ACCOUNT.

Everyday at least a 100 of Norton customers report that they have been scammed or "Conned" I'ld say by Guruaid. Today you guys reached the heights by charging an elderly couple a total of $199.00 just for installing her Norton Back on her computer.......Are YOU S****ING ME?????? The program alone costs $79.00 and you smartass's charged them $199.00 JUST FOR INSTALLING A PRODUCT THEY ALREADY PAID FOR.
YOU LOSERS THEY DEPEND ON THEIR SOCIALS TO MEET DAYS END. STOP YOUR NONSENSE SCAM AND STOP CONNING PEOPLE OF THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY.

There are many more such Instances where people have been scammed by them. (I can even provide you with the names of few so called Guruaid technician's)

I WOULD LIKE TO INFORM ALL OF YOU THAT GURUAID IS NOT A PART OF NORTON BUT AN INDEPENDENT BUSINESS< JUST TO MAKE PURE PROFITS.

Any future attempts of scams by Guruaid should be reported to legal authorities and PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not trust any TOM, DICK and HARRY if they call you and say that they have identified a problem or a virus on your computer and they are calling from some reputed and well known organization Like Microsft, Google, Norton or McAfee.

The truth is these Companies never call their customers as they already have their own knowledge base to fix any problems and their own Support system and never charge for any support, As every organization mentioned above also has option for free support to troubleshoot most of the errors that you get on these products.

BOTTOM LINE: DON"T BELIEVE GURUAID. Instead go to the website of the organization for whose product you are getting any error or have any issues. Their websites always has a option called "Support" to contact genuine support.

LOSER'S SUCK, AND SO DO YOU......."GURUAIDS" Cause you're spreading like an virus to annihilate the hard earned money of thousands of people.

the absolute worst sam ever.. i thought they were good because they fixed the problem in a few minutes BUT the problems remained..they said we couldnt use the net so we sent them our tower..it came back in less than a week but nothing worked..my music drives werent there. we had to call three times and they said they fixed it all and i was thrilled so i rated them a 10 but after that there still was NO music and no files..they did something to the computer and now i had to get a brand new one on top of the 375 i paid these jerks to fix it..microsoft isnt aligned with them either. i am pissed. buyer beware.. dont use these fools. go to the geek squad or a local tech company. i wish i could take back that rating..they suck..BIG time

I contacted a company who purported to be Norton (my trusted security firm), and who explained that they had notes on their problems board about a breach of my firewall, and had posted the warning message on my computer screen ( this was in the format of a Norton warning! ).  I trusted them thus far, and let them into my computer, at which point they disabled numerous files and reported, after keeping me on the phone for a couple of hours, that a thorough clean was needed urgently for which a fee of £119 was payable.  They started to take my debit card details, and asked for information that is irregular.  They said that my bank would not process the transaction without this info.  At that point I closed the phone down, and then received a call from my bank warning me that someone was trying to get money from my account using a foreign source of access.

They are a complete SCAM and should be closed down before they do more damage and destroy the reputation of trusted firms, and steal money from people's bank accounts.

I had a similar experience. Just called looking for Trend Micro and was told I was speaking with them. Spent over an hour being constantly reassured my problem with Trend Micro would be solved (my service needed to be canceled and money refunded), but towards the end he started in on this product I should buy and blah blah. Finally I said "Can you just give me my refund?" And he said, "Yes, if you pay. Just one nominal fee of $169.99!" I was furious. He lied to keep me on the phone and then tried to dupe me into buying some product.

I should have paid better attention to which number I called. Luckily, I didn't buy the product.

Yes, I believe this is a scam company, all very helpful, took ages to do what they did the first time, and used computer again most of it had re-appeared back on my screen.  Called them again and they worked on computer again said it was fine, wanted me to clarify this so I said yes I thought it was ok

They took £111.00 from my account and this is for a year and I am wondering if they take the money out again before the year is up and you are not able to do anything about it.

I got through to Norton Security first as I had my computer repaired and the icon for Norton disappeared altogether and as I had paid for 2 years and had about 9 months left obviously I wanted my monies worth, so this 0800 lead to India which was Norton? they then told me I had 316 vicious messages or whatever they are called and needed to be cleared.  I am wondering if I really spoke to Norton Security and why they put me through to this company

I would love your comments on this with the people who had been duped like me

    Thank you

BEWARE...THIS IS A PURE SCAM AND NOTHING ELSE.
