I read a few blogs about a merchant service(squareup.com)on an excusve website.  I decided to use the service and accepted over eight hundred dollars in payments through them.  The problem is they will not send the funds due to my designated business account and I have now idea how to collect my money from them.  They continue not to answer my numerous complaints and requests for assistance.  They claim to answer every request personally which is deceptive.  On my first complaint, they personally sent me a list of measures for a certain proceedure which was fruitless and had nothing to do with my complaint.  If it was not for You Tube, I would have still been stuck on the application complaint.

I ran a card today and by mistake, I ran 3375.00 instead of $375. I figured how to cancel the sale and they charged me $103.72, I tried to contact then and nothing.
I use it all the time and I do love it, fast easy but holy [***] now a simple problem and you cannot contact them to speak to someone, now money is money and with my other card vendor the proble would have been corrected in seconds with no finance charge to me, I called Apple who BTW sold me this and they have no idea how to contact them, I sent a email and still nothing.
The unit is great but the customer survice sucks big time.....

I agree...I love the service.  All of the information is contained in the FAQs and the agreement.  I do agree others though that support is lacking...ok, non-existent.  But processing credit cards works GREAT.  DEFINITELY stay under the $1000/transaction and $3000/month and you will be "good to go".  If you need over $1000...consider splitting the transaction.  Keep in mind...the propensity for CC fraud with mobile devices is high.  To keep costs affordable...they have to implement standards that protect us as merchants, them as the processor...and any potential customer losses.  You could always get wrapped up into a long-term lease situation and pay a monthly gateway fee. {eeeeeew!}  Free account, free software, free hardware, no monthly fee competitive rates,...and the convenience of doing it from your smartphone.  c'mon  Square Rocks!

Take your card out.  Look for the toll-free phone number on the back.  Call them and let them know you are disputing the total of the charge...but most likely was an error on your hair-dresser's part.  Might want to contact them 1st.  I use my square frequently...it works great unless my chubby fingers choose to press the wrong button -or- enter the wrong amount.  If they charged more...then your hair-dresser will get it in their account.  Square won't keep any overages.

Square sounds kinda shady replies to metroPCworks
If your talking about the card that comes stuffed in the actual square device (the card reader) - just wanted to let everyone know that I just got a brand new square, just took it out of the box and no where on the box or the card is a phone number. Also no phone number on their website for customer support.

Square has not paid any of the money it owes me for the last month. They have overcharged almost all the customers that i used them for. They also keep charging customers for services that have not been provided. Customers have called and told me they have been charged for services 3 and 4 times when I have not swiped their card. This also happened to my close family member. She had to get a new card and put a hold on her card for any further charges for my business. This gives my business a bad reputation. Also, after the charges for services gets disputed, they take the money out of my personal and business account even though they didnt deposit anything!! I have tried to reach them by phone and e mail with no response. They have almost completly destroyed my small business. To date they owe me about $11,000 and I cant get any money back. Now Starbucks will be using them!! God help them. Run as fast as you can from this fraudulent company!!!

I hear ya Mike.  I do computer work and accepting credit cards had never been an issue until last fall.  Not taking credit cost me approx $300-$800 in lost business.  Square was cheap...easy...and just works.  BUT...you do have to watch how much you charge if you don't want to wait 30 days for the remaining cash.  I agree with your post.  Square is a GREAT service.  Keep in mind:  In every business, you're gonna have 10% that don't like what you offer no matter what you do or how well you do it.  Seems like Square's 10% have found a home here.

If you do more than 3K/month, the "no monthly fee" is a parlor trick. Here's how:

      $40,000(year)x .0275=$1100 (Square annual fees)

      My company
      40,000x .0139=$556
$30/mox 12=$360 (30 bucks is monthly fee for new businesses)
      $79 annual fee

      $556+$360+$79=$695

So if you do $40K a year, our charges EVEN WITH a monthly member fee AND and annual fee is $405 less. AND you get two dedicated reps. What, you thought they hadn't figured out that if you want to boil a frog, you don't throw him in a boiling pot; you put him a pot with cold water and slowly raise the heat. E-mail me and we can show you a better product, more tried and true. tyhen34@hotmail.com

You need to check your math there, Henry. $556+$360+$79 does NOT equal $695. It equals $975. Still cheaper than Square. EXCEPT that with Square, that $1100 comes out of each transaction 2.75% at a time. You're charging $79 a year just to be a client, plus $30 each month for service, and then a rate on each transaction that's half of Square. For a business with more periodic or seasonal transactions, Square could be cheaper when you consider the time value of the annual and monthly fees.

Check and make sure the tip area is turned off. If it isn't than you may be authorizing more than the correct amount or adding an auto tip because of that.  Btw you can also issue a refund to your customer on the square site.

Check with your hairdresser, they can refund you the money via the website.  Its not a scam, I have been using it for my business for awhile.  my guess is that she entered the amount wrong.  Its user error and she can fix it.

I am highly suspect of this post.  You have to provide bank info in order to use square.  They also don't ask you things like what this person is claiming that they are asking.  I know from personal experience.
