I read a few blogs about a merchant service(squareup.com)on an excusve website.  I decided to use the service and accepted over eight hundred dollars in payments through them.  The problem is they will not send the funds due to my designated business account and I have now idea how to collect my money from them.  They continue not to answer my numerous complaints and requests for assistance.  They claim to answer every request personally which is deceptive.  On my first complaint, they personally sent me a list of measures for a certain proceedure which was fruitless and had nothing to do with my complaint.  If it was not for You Tube, I would have still been stuck on the application complaint.

I signed up to squareup about 3wks ago, and i must say after 30yrs in small business "IT IS THE WORST" credit card service ever! HANDS DOWN!  I have returned all funds reversed to my customer because they are selective as to when they want to release funds, but mean while THEY have the funds so they may collect interest.  I have decided to make it my mission to let all small business' know not to even consider this squareup because if you need answers from them, they will not respond any emails (again, selectively).  No phone numbers, no address, no nothing.  You have been warned, a true nightmare with this company.  Use, intuit, roampay or somebody else where you can get a LIVE person on the line who can actually assist you when need be.  As far as i am concerned this Square place could be some teenage in some living room in Dubai who does not give a hoot about customers.  I will be starting a squareup campaign on the internet to let all people know about this terrible service, so please do your homework and don't let this happen to you.

Hi. Your post was from a while ago, but I agree that Square Up is collecting interest on funds and randomly choosing whose funds to keep. The owner, Jack Dorsey, is of the generational mind-set of overly, self-confident and no consequences, work is just fun and parties; oh, and...."tweets".   This Co. Is not of long-lasting, solid design. Its fraudulent. Thanks. Grace

        Lets come together and sue

The Walt Disney Company just announced that Jack Dorsey (co-founder and CEO of Square, as well co-founder and chairman at Twitter, as if you didn’t know) has joined its board of directors.

“Jack Dorsey is a talented entrepreneur who has helped create groundbreaking new businesses in the social media and commerce spaces,” said Disney CEO Robert A. Iger in the release. “The perspective he brings to Disney and its Board is extremely valuable, given our strategic priorities, which include utilizing the latest technologies and platforms to reach more people and to enhance the relationship we have with our customers.”

The company’s tech bets in the past few years have included the acquisition of gaming companies Tapulous and Playdom. But presumably Disney’s interest in technology goes beyond any one area of the company.

Plus, of course, it acquired Pixar back in 2006, a company that had its roots in technology, even if it wasn’t exactly a startup. The deal brought Apple’s Steve Jobs to the Disney board and made him the company’s largest shareholder — so this is another way that Dorsey is following in Jobs’ footsteps (who he clearly emulates).

Disney’s board also includes Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg and John S. Chen, former CEO at Sybase.

Dorsey, meanwhile, has become one of the best-known executives in the tech industry and the startup world, with a recent New Yorker profile not just looking at his achievements at Twitter and Square, but also asking what he’s doing next (for one thing, Dorsey has mentioned repeatedly that he’d like to run for mayor of New York one day). He alluded to the Disney news in a tweet, where he quotes Walt Disney himself: “I only hope we don’t lose sight of one thing—that it was all started by a mouse.”

I almost sign today. I am glad I found this site.
Someone should report them to the General Attorney and BBB.

My husband and I are opening a pest control buisness and we are almost complete. All we need now is a merchant service. We were just about to get square.com until we found this complaint site. Needless to say we will be going to our bank and we want to thank you.

How long did it take for your customer to get all his/her funds refunded to him/her in lieu of waiting endlessly for Square to make your deposit to your bank?

I wish more people were like you. I try to inform as we are small business owners. I dont think people understand sacrifices people make to keep employees working. When you fall into scams it definately is hard not to dwell on.

      Hi Sign Guy,

I'm sorta in the same boat as you, in that I can't get them to respond to any emails either.  I haven't had issues in getting my money from them, but I've been careful about how many manual entries I make in a week using SquareUp.

I'm still waiting on some kind of response from them on raising my weekly limit for manual credit card processing.  I've sent three emails so far and it's been like two weeks, and still no response.

I did come across another forum that looks like it is nothing only about SquareUp.  I don't think I can list the url here without getting in trouble, but search Google for SquareUpForums dot com.  I've been bitching there too, although the site looks fairly new so I'm not sure if Square will actually pay attention to it or not.
