WE BOUGHT A MAYTAG TOP LOAD CENTENNIAL WASHER JULY OF 2011.   WE HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS SINCE COMING IN THE DOOR.  IT WAS PURCHASED AT HARRINGTON APPLIANCE IN HARRINGTON DELAWARE .   THE FIRST THING WE NOTICED IS THAT THE CLOTHES WERE NOT GETTING CLEAN AND A CYCLE TAKES AN ABSURDLY LONG TIME.   IF YOU HAVE A SOUNDPROOF LAUNDRY ROOM, YOU MIGHT BE OK.  IT IS VERY NOISY AND TODAY WE HAD TO REBALANCE ONE LOAD ELEVEN TIMES.  RIDICULOUS.  WE HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE LOCAL PEOPLE IT WAS PURCHASED FROM AND THE MAYTAG COMPANY AND HAD A REPAIRMAN LOOK AT IT, TO NO AVAIL.  LONG STORY SHORT, IT IS A CRUMMY PRODUCT FOR THE PRICE PAID.   I GUESS WE PAID BY THE DECIBEL, BECAUSE WE GOT PLENTY OF BANG FOR OUR BUCK.

I purchased a new Maytag Centential washing machine in Sep 2014. Initiallly I could not adjust the water temp. I select "hot" and the water is cold or warm, I select cold and the water is warm. Whirlpool sent a repairman and he said it needed a new circuit board and it would never work properly until this is replaced. I again called service and a different service company came out and said the circuit board was fine, but needed to be re-set. It appeared to work fine for a few days then I was not able to select the water temp again. I called whirlpool and discussed the problem, they said the last service company said it was fine and if they came out again I would have to pay for the service call. I am stuck with a washing machine that I cannot select the temp of the water, it does not work and Whirlpool will not fix it. I WILL NOT BUY ANYTHING WITH THE WHIRLPOOL OR MAYTAG NAME ON IT. The machines are made in China and they are JUNK!
I am now searching for a new washer, I wish I could get a REAL Maytag but they haven't made these since 2006.

Bought a maytag centennial washer a year and two months ago and it is the biggest piece of junk ever.. It stopped going into the rinse and spin cycle leaving me with no choice but to replace the machine..  I didn't have the time or energy to go back and forth with maytag especially after reading all the problems other consumers had in getting maytag to do something.. It sucked from the get go which was too late to do anything about.  Regular cycles seemed to take hours and that stupid locking lid made it impossible to add anything to the load once it was started.. I will never, ever buy a maytag appliance ever again as long as I live.. The washer was literally ready for the scrap heap after only 14 months of service.!! DONT BUY MAYTAG!!!

I also am not happy with this washer. It takes way too long. I cannot possibly see how this is energy efficient. It gets off balance frequently. You cannot wash blankets because it gets off balance and doesn't spin, leaves them soaked. I previously had a Sears Kenmore washer for 20 years. This thing pales in comparison. I used to spend Saturday morning doing laundry. Now I have to spend all day or part of Sunday too. What a nuisance.

I went from washing 2 full loads per week, to 6, just to try to minimize the amount of lint on my clothes.  A task that would take me a couple hours, is now an all day affair.  I spend much of my time with lint rollers trying to remove lint off of all my clothes.  Maytag should throw in a free lifetime supply of these things.  Separating the clothes into all these different loads may make it appear that there's no lint on the clothes, but as soon as you pair that light colored top with black pants, the black pants are loaded with lint. After having to replace my GE washer every 3 years for the motor going bad, I switched to Maytag because my 20 year old oven was Maytag.  Never did I think anything could be worse than my GE.  Never did I think that I would have to Google about lint problems and washers.  It seems that this would be a standard qualification test that Maytag would have done to ensure the quality of their product.  Now, I'm reading on this board about all of the mechanical failures I have to look forward to, which doesn't make sense since the Whirlpool/Maytag rep said there is a 10 year warranty.  Very disappointed.

Washer under 2 years old.  Had repair man out just before warranty ran out because the water kept running.  Had new part put in.  Ran fine for 6 months.  Now, stops for no reason!  Have had to re-set manually to spin and drain each time.  What a piece of junk for 'made in America.'  Am not calling repair again.  Will get some other brand.  Too bad Maytag.

We purchased a Maytag Centennial washer and a Maytag dryer as a set about a year ago. The washer has been a big disappointment.  It's loud and takes twice as long as our old washer to go through a cycle.  Now the washer locks the lid tries to sense then unlocks again.  We purchased this as it was a well recommended item by Consumers Reports, of which we are members, and on Maytag's past reputation.  It is a shame that this company has gone so far downhill.  I would never buy another and will warn friends to do likewise.

We also bought a Maytag Centennial washing machine.  I've had it a little over a year and all of a sudden it just stopped working, mid cycle.  Had the repairman in and the results were that the computer board needed to be replaced.  The cost for this one part is over $300 and that's if we purchase it and install it ourselves.  I will NEVER again even look at an appliance that bears the Maytag/Whirpool logos.  I actually looked at a Kenmore and then realized that they too are made by Whirlpool.  GE here I come.

Brought Magtag Centential on August 2013.   A piece of junk, what a rip off. I should have had my old one fixed or brought a use washer, they usually work better than this new piece of crap.

I too bought this machine from Lowes. The sells rep. Had a good sells pitch. How I would love my new washing machine, how economical it would be. Didn't mention it takes 60 min. Minimal to wash one load of clothes. The water level makes me think I'm washing my clothes in dirty water. I have taken what I thought was clean clothes to dry. To find they are still soiled.  I feel like I got ripped off. Had it serviced with in the first month, they assured me it was working properly. I have read reviews and I feel like they should recall it and make its customers satisfied.

Maytag change the name on the centennial to get around all the bad publicity and to increase their sales it is now called the Bravo same machine.  Agree it is a horrible machine.  A duck by a different name is still a duck.

I will never buy another Maytag again. Spent $500 on the Cenntennial because I thought it would be energy efficient. Just like so many of the complaints I have read--gets off balance very easy, very noise, sensor takes forever to work and fill with water, black items come out looking horrible with residue on all over them. DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE!!!!!!!

I purchased a Maytag washer in February 2014 and had to have three service calls while under warranty. The service calls took forever to schedule. I had to take my cloths to a laundry service for a month, at my expense! Less than two months after the warranty expired, I'm having horrible problems again. I did however purchase an extended warranty from Home Depot and they are scheduled to have someone out this week. If they can patch it up for a while and get past the extended warranty period, I'll be stuck with the piece of junk! The washer never worked properly from the start! What happened to our appliances, my mother's washer lasted more than twenty years and she had four kids and a hard working husband to wash for. I've had to purchase a refrigerator, washer, stove, and dryer, none of which were over eight years old!

Maytag Centennial washer is a piece of Junk!  Do not buy!  Clothes do not even get wet unless you pour a pail of water over the clothes in the washer before you start the load to trick the sensor into thinking it is a heavier load and it will then put more water in.  After much trouble, I was told this by the sales person at Home Depot.  It helps.  I will NEVER buy this type of product again and especially from Maytag/Whirlpool.  Too much noise, too much electricity, too much time, too much money for the terrible quality you are getting.  We had also called a repairman to look at it and he refused to come out because, as it was still under warranty, he would turn the bill in to Maytag and they wouldn't pay him.  He had fixed several of these, finally stopped because not reimbursed.  So much for a quality product.

I too bought this washer after having a Maytag for 28 years previously that I loved. I could shoot myself for not repairing my old one! The clothes don't get fully wet or clean. Dark clothes come out with white spots that are very difficult to get out with hand washing. My cycle shuts off before draining or spinning. I am disappointed in Maytag and in Jarvis Appliances in Bel Air, Maryland who sold me this poor quality machine and will not stand behind it.
