WE BOUGHT A MAYTAG TOP LOAD CENTENNIAL WASHER JULY OF 2011.   WE HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS SINCE COMING IN THE DOOR.  IT WAS PURCHASED AT HARRINGTON APPLIANCE IN HARRINGTON DELAWARE .   THE FIRST THING WE NOTICED IS THAT THE CLOTHES WERE NOT GETTING CLEAN AND A CYCLE TAKES AN ABSURDLY LONG TIME.   IF YOU HAVE A SOUNDPROOF LAUNDRY ROOM, YOU MIGHT BE OK.  IT IS VERY NOISY AND TODAY WE HAD TO REBALANCE ONE LOAD ELEVEN TIMES.  RIDICULOUS.  WE HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE LOCAL PEOPLE IT WAS PURCHASED FROM AND THE MAYTAG COMPANY AND HAD A REPAIRMAN LOOK AT IT, TO NO AVAIL.  LONG STORY SHORT, IT IS A CRUMMY PRODUCT FOR THE PRICE PAID.   I GUESS WE PAID BY THE DECIBEL, BECAUSE WE GOT PLENTY OF BANG FOR OUR BUCK.

Bought my Maytag HE 2007. It ripped up my clothes. Then stopped filling with water and flashed a code. Repair man came but never said what was wrong. Warranty ran out and then it wouldn't balance on spin cycle.  My husband was killed and I just started going to laundry mat.  The first problem started back up so now I just have a piece of crap.  I called and wrote emails but was told $50 for service call plus parts and labor. I am a widow raising kids and hand washing clothes in my super awesome washing machine.

I purchased the Maytag centennial in Jan 2013 and then my daughter purchased it a few months later. (Hers is in storage right now since they are a military family)  My machine has had many of the similar issues I've just read above with clothes getting very wrinkled, dry spots, taking forever to finish but what is the worst is, all of a sudden during the spin cycle it started sounding like an airplane was taking off, it got so loud even with the laundry room door closed it was annoying, then it started spitting out water onto the floor during the filling cycle.  I called a repair company and the man told me to throw it away.  He said the open basket sat on the agitator and the spin cycle has caused one if not all 4 of the pencil thin pieces Maytag has used to hold the basket in place.  He said it would cost me more to fix it then to replace it.  I'm very sad since Maytag has been our appliance of choice for years.  I will NEVER purchase another Maytag product and I have been telling everyone my horror story.  I'm a widow and I can afford to be buying a new washer every 2 1/2 years.  Maytag you need to recall this machine for the love of your own words "dependability".  This machine is by far not dependable.

We also bought the maytag ecoconserve. Worst machine ever, leaves residue and it leaves clothes soaked. Doesn't seem to drain and spin properly. Waste of money don't buy this

My Maytag runs through the complete cycle and then restarts all over again. Why does this keep happening? The washer is in the basement and I don't always catch it before it starts all over again.

I should of read this message board. I just bought this washer and what a piece of crap it is. It's so noisy, ties clothes in knots, and takes forever to wash a load. It spins so fast it sets wrinkles in and the dryer isn't gonna get them out...

I purchased a centennial in June and my clothes are not coming out clean. I have done all the right things arranging clothes , putting detergent first, using hot water for whites, bleach for my whites. I have washed one load twice and the clothes are still dirty.

I'm dismayed to read all the reports of continuing problems with the Maytag Centennial washer.  Our last Maytag held up beautifully for years, but after a few short years I have just had to replace the sensor (as have so many other people) for more than half the original price of the washer.  This is the one and only repair that will be done on this machine, because the next time I will replace it with a more reliable product.

We purchased our Centennial washer a little over 3 years ago. Same issues as every consumer on this post. Seems that Maytag (Whirlpool) quality is about as reliable as the honesty of our politicians.

My Maytag centennial washer is always off balance in spin cycle, with clothes or without. This started since I moved out of my other place! I have checked all the balance springs and skate plate pads. Everything looks good.

    How do I fix this?

I purchased it in August 2009.

The Maytag centennial washing machine is nothing but pure junk, it takes over an hour for one small load, the clothes come out still dirty and smelly, they have soap film on them,  that pesky locking lid was nonsense, and finally the washer started not draining the water out. That was the breaking point. I bought it in 2012, model MVMC400XW3, from Lowe's for $500. I used it for only six months before I had enough of it and junked it for a used Kenmore which has worked very good to this day. This Maytag is a big POS,  the Maytag brand used to be the best, as I had one that lasted 25 years, but now they are really crap. They should be asshamed, and be sued for fraud.

We bought our Centennial in 2012; it worked OK, except it seemed to take forever to do a load. In the past year it has been very noisy during the wash cycle-sounds like gears grinding. The comment about Maytag being bought out by Whirlpool makes sense, our last washer was a Whirlpool, and it was a Piece Of S***. Our first Whirlpool, bought in 1967, lasted 25 years. It seems that the business philosophy today is not to look to long term stability, but short term profits. Very disappointing................

I also had problems with my maytag centennial (will not spin after 1.5 years) and will not buy anything made by maytag again.
