CHEAPOAIR.COM is definitely a very poor company and I strongly urge ANYONE reading this to NOT use there "service".

On July 9th I went to CheapOair.com to purchase a ticket and was provided with a Reservation ID and a booking number. Now, I also went directly to the airline's website to verify the prices, and they were accurate, BUT Cheapoair was offering a $10 instant coupon so I figured I would purchase the ticket through them and not directly with the airline itself.

A few hours go by and I did not receive my ticket so I called them. I was on hold for 15 minutes and then was "disconnected". I then called back and after another 30 minutes was told by a representative that they were "processing' it and I should have a ticket shortly. A few hours later I call back. I waited 30 minutes on hold and once the representative asked me "do you really need a morning flight"? At this point, I'm thinking something is obviously wrong. Apparently, they were unable to offer me the ticket that I had purchased and booked. I requested to speak to a manager and was transferred to SHAW. He would not provide a last name. He basically kept giving the run around and tried to continuously blame the airlines. I told him that if I had NOT used the CheapOAir service and directly booked with the airline that I would have had a ticket so what reason do I have to use his service ever again if they can't provide what they advertise and promote? He did not have an answer. I made him give me a written confirmation that I would not be charged. I also requested the name of a superior. He declined to give me any names so that I could formally complain and told me to send a generic email to their feedback@cheapair.com. I gave him ample notice that I was going to post my story anywhere I could to warn other consumers that this website does not provide the services it charges to the customer!!!!!!

My husband and I are also having trouble with Cheapaoir.CA.  We booked with them Aug.24. Within hours our plans abruptly changed and we tried to cancel. Unfortunately, they have a policy of absolute no refunds on tickets, which we did not see with our old senior eyes.  We have been e-mailing them asking if they would refund part of our tickets or give us credit for another flight but they have not had the common courtesy to respond to our queries.  In all our years of travel we have never had any problems cancelling flights within a 24 hour grace period.  We will be filing a complaint with BBB of Canada if we do not hear from them within a week.  AND of course we will never use Cheaopoair.CA or Cheapoair.COM again.

Well, a complete turn around has happened.  After Cheapoair read my complaints, we were immediately contacted by them.  It turns out that for some reason when my husband booked tickets with Cheapoir.ca on Aug.24th, 2012 then tried to cancel within 24 hours, the agent he was dealing with gave us wrong information.  Cheapoair.ca does indeed have a 24 hour grace period and they are refunding our entire ticket costs to us with apologies.  I do not know if Cheapoair.com has the same policy, but needless to say, we are very happy with the immediate results we received after posting our frustrations.  We will use Cheapoir.ca in the future if our money is refunded in a timely matter.
This is a great forum for all to use.

I was totally shocked when I saw the others' complaints about cheapoair. I thought I was alone, I thought all I suffered from cheapoair are because of my bad luck. I will tell you my true suffering story with cheapoair.
I booked a round trip from Vancouver to Toronto in the end of June. But in August, I can not make the traveling because of some reason. So I called the service number provided on cheapoair website to seek some advices about cancelling my trip. I didn’t wait for too long time before the phone was picked up. Lucky me, I thought. But soon I realized I was wrong. When I tried to talk to him about my tirp, he urged me to make a decision, and asked me if I want to cancel the trip. He told me my flight can be refund as westjet dollars and I can use it in one year after I canceled it. It just needed $50.00 as cancelling fee.I wanted to tell him I also booked a Niagara fall ticket which is valued about C$150.00. But he just lost his patience and asked me before I told him about the ticket, Do you want to cancel your trip or not? So I said I do want to cancel the trip but…Then He told me he was cancelling my trip. I just felt he just not let two words out of his mouth, shut up.
After he cancelled my trip, he asked me if anything he can help as a rule. Then I got a chance to tell him I also booked the Niagara trip and now the flight was canceled so I wanted to cancel the Niagara trip too. But he told me the trip is not refunded. I was shocked and angry at that time. It was you that don’t give me any chance to tell you about Niagara trip. If the Niagara trip can not be refunded, I would not cancel the flight. And also I booked the flight and Niagara trip together. Can’t the stuff in cheapoair see the entire trip in one booking account???
Now I lost 200.00 dollars for nothing. But the suffering has not ended yet. They sent me an email to tell me that they charged me $50.00 for canceling my trip. And meanwhile they told me “you may not be able to change the routing from the original itinerary. At the time of rebooking you agree to pay an airline penalty of$50.00 USD per person plus fare difference if any.” What the hell?? They didn’t mention about this when they canceled my trip. Now if I want use the westjet dollars, I have to pay $250.00 even more for nothing??? This is totally unacceptable. I realized I have been cheated. Cheapoair is a fraud website. They got every chance to charge you money, and you won’t know how much you will be charged if you want to use the refund money. I don’t know why some people still use cheapoair. Hope you can get something from my experience. Saving money from cheapoair actullay is wasting your money, and time.

Cannot believe what has happened since I last posted the above letter.  We have been waiting for a woman called Annalisa at Cheapoair.ca to e-mail us a confirmation on having our ticket money fully refunded.  After several attempts this week to get hold of her, we were contacted by someone else at Cheapoair.ca telling us that Annalisa no longer works for them and that the first agent back on August 25th did give us the correct information which was that there is no refund on tickets at all.  LIKE WHAT!   And after learning that we were going to be able to have a full refund on our tickets, we cancelled all our hotel reservations and lost the deposits for doing so.  Which we accepted.  NOW we are out not only our ticket money but we also lost the hotel money too.  I do not understand how a company can keep changing their policies to accomodate themselves.  There must be some sort of law which protects citizens from such lying practices.   We are not going to wait any longer, as of tomorrow morning I will be writing a full complaint to BBB of Canada.  I also will be airing all of this on Face Book!

I have just booked a flight with chepoair and if I experience problems I will be extremely angry as my father who doesn't have much money has paid for me to visit him. I will get this company shut down if any issues arise. Hopefully Cheapoair will come through.
I feel so sorry for all of you that it hasn't worked for!

David, we are the travel agency and have no control over the airlines canceling or changing flights.  We have been notified from the airline you are flying, and it is our responsibility to communicate to you what they have protected you on.  I'm very sorry that you are being inconvenienced and will certainly review your flights if you forward your 8 digit booking number to sm@cheapoair.com, and place blog in the subject line.

David, I actually found your reservation, and the only change was a 11 minute difference, therefore the airline United will not give a refund for. I also show you called the airline and actually canceled these flights, and chose a credit to use for 1 year. If you wish to discuss further, please contact Cheapoair.com.

My problem with cheaply air is that they are actually more expensive than booking directly with the airline.

i have used cheapoair multiple times a year for about four years and have not had any problems. in fact, when i recently booked the wrong day and phoned them, they immediately fixed my issue and did not charge me a fee. i usually get the great fun coupon afterwards and get twenty dollars back, which is pretty much the only reason i book with them rather than directly with the airline, as the prices are usually the same once you use the coupon codes.

helpful hint--when i book with them, once the flight is confirmed, i go to the carrier website directly, register the flight to my account, and choose my seats etc there.

also, if you get the special low-cost tickets that don't identify the carrier until after you buy, you can usually find the flights on carrier sites before you buy and figure out who is who if you have preferences. this is the one case in which the flights are usually substantially cheaper than buying directly from the airline.
