Harassment

Under CA law is is harassment to call someone repeatedly and not say anything (silence to intimidate).
This company (319) 274-1902 called my home several times per week for 2 weeks. When I or my wife answered the call there was no response - just silence. Finally I had had enough and called back. I asked immediately for them to stop calling me and to put me on their do not call list. I was told they don't have a do not call list and then I was asked if "Valentina Johnson" lived here. I told them no and tried to tell them how upset I was with them but they just said "all you have to say is its a wrong number." Nonsense, they were clearly calling to get hold of this Valentina (my wife's name is Johnson and first name starts with V but not Valentina) and they were not going to say antything but keep calling until someone with the right accent answered the phone or someone called them back. Silence being used to intimidate. And they were targeting anyone with a name similar to this Valentina Johonson.
These guys need to be put out of business.

Most consumers think it's too expensive or complicated to sue them because they are in another state, but both FDCPA and TCPA allow you to sue IN YOUR OWN STATE, in state or federal court, even small claims court, and that court has jurisdiction over them, even though they are in Iowa.
Those laws also allow courts to aware attorney fees, so look for an attorney to take your case on contingency. You might try www.naca.net to find a consumer attorney in your state.
File a complaint with the state for medical billing fraud, billing you for tests they did not do.
If you have insurance, it's easier to let them solve it, since they can use their contract muscle.
It also helps when your insurance company fixes it, since that can get the account yanked back and negative collection accounts removed from your credit reports, in order to comply with the insurance company's provider contracts.
Also you would be telling others to watch out for the sue happy thugs.
Maybe I should be happy I haven't had debt collectors posing as check in and other hospital employee like in Minnesota.
Cops said sorrry. ( they did nothing wrong though) Meth will not say sorry.
Do not use Methodist IHS GO to Mercy Mercy dos not sue.
Meth has 13 debt collectors Mercy has none.
You're sick and broke because you deserve it.
And if the alleged debtor isn't even there anymore, then your house deserves it.
It has worked perfectly for me in the past ;)
They hang up fast!!!!
The other one I did the other day was to answer by saying, "This call is being recorded, I need your first name, last name, and employee ID number. I am recording this call to forward it to the FCC for the complaints I've made against your company." The man who I said this to last week said he'd immediately take my number off their list, and they haven't called again!!!
I cannot afford to pay them of course.
