Under CA law is is harassment to call someone repeatedly and not say anything (silence to intimidate).

This company (319) 274-1902 called my home several times per week for 2 weeks.  When I or my wife answered the call there was no response - just silence.  Finally I had had enough and called back.  I asked immediately for them to stop calling me and to put me on their do not call list.  I was told they don't have a do not call list and then I was asked if "Valentina Johnson" lived here.  I told them no and tried to tell them how upset I was with them but they just said "all you have to say is its a wrong number."  Nonsense, they were clearly calling to get hold of this Valentina (my wife's name is Johnson and first name starts with V but not Valentina) and they were not going to say antything but keep calling until someone with the right accent answered the phone or someone called them back.  Silence being used to intimidate.  And they were targeting anyone with a name similar to this Valentina Johonson.

These guys need to be put out of business.

    I've been receiving multiple calls from #515-344-3550. Stating they are the cbe group. I called back and the gentleman was very polite. I strongly believe if your polite with them they will be the same. Personally I don't pay the collection agencies, I prefer to pay the company directly I have a debt with.

    Their number is   913-279-0780 I have been receiving calls from these people who are looking for someone with my first name but wrong last name.I do not have any debts and these people need to be stopped.I pay for a unlisted number to avoid these kind of people.I am also on the Do Not Call List. I am not in good health and cannot hold a phone do to a disability.

    It sounds like a senior predatory collection agency that tries to collect debts that have already been settled.  I had one of those harass me, and a few colorful choice words to the CEO left on his voice mail stopped it.

    t mobile .. I cancelled their phone service in 2006 and I'm still getting calls because they didn't cancel my services when I told them.. such a scam..  they resell their fake debt and f' up my credit.. t mobile can kma

    I just got a new phone number and these people keep calling when I am on the do not call list, I have no debt, and no medical bills.  They call nearly every day under 3 phone numbers:  319-242-7349, 913-279-0480 and 515-954-7694. This is really annoying when no one leaves a message.

    CBE sucks
    I started getting calls from CBE Group a couple months ago. Usually 2 or 3 times a day, Monday thru Saturday. Every time I answer it's just silence. I got fed up and called them... the girl told me my number wasn't even in the system but would talk to her boss and make sure the calls stopped. It didn't work. A month passed and I called again. This time they recognized which department was calling and connected me with them. They were looking for a business (that was closed) that happened to be down the street from me. They told me the calls would stop. Let's see if this works. If there's a third time I will file a formal complaint against them. I don't know what else to call it but getting hung up on 3 times a day for 3 months is harassment.

    Here is the companies management. Maybe everyone on this forum should start calling them everyday and hanging up... give them a taste of their own medicine.

    The numbers calling were... 319-432-7615, 319-242-7349, there was also a 913 area code too.

    They keep calling for a Robert Walker. I have had this phone # for over 30 yrs. and this guy has never lived here. I have and my wife has advised them time and time again of this .Just recieved another call about 10 min. ago from C B E group , phone # 319-2427366 Does anyone know who to contact for this type of harassment. I guess a lawsuit might stop it...........

    estas personas son insistentes, intimidantes, solo quieren atrapar a quien se deja,
    1ro--- se escucha una grabacion "esta conversacion sera grabada para vencefio nuestro" algo asi..
    2ro---preguntan por la persona que buscan y solo con esa quieren hablar
    3ro---cuando la persona contesta quieren verificar su direccion, telefono. lo cual ellos ya la tienen
    es absurdo quieren solo ver que la persona cae en su trampa...yo ya boy a tomar cartas en el asunto boy a llamar ala procuraduria del consumidor de usa. con toda la informacion y los nombres de quienes me han hablado bueno a mi esposo pero yo escucho en el alta voz y tengo grabado su bello sistema....no soy inteligente pero si astuta.

    Them simply calling you isn't harassment in and of itself.  If you don't want the phone calls, answer the phone.  You can either tell them it's a wrong number, tell them to stop calling, or tell them you want them to cease and desist.  It isn't complicated.  Also, if you're wondering how in the heck they got your number in the first place, look at this wikipedia article:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skiptrace

    Welcome to collections.  It's their job.  To COLLECT.  They can't "know" they have reached the wrong person unless you tell them so.

      They still call on us because of someone else that may have had our number. THIS IS HARASSMENT! I have reported these dicks to my sheriff, and now to the State AG. I also am pursuing civil lawsuit against these jokers.

    They called, I answered. They asked for me and I said "who is calling" and they wouldn't tell me. Kept wanting me to confirm my name and address for them. I said I wasn't confirming any information for them until they identified themselves. They refused to identify themselves so I hung up. Why should I give them personal information when they won't confirm who they are and why they are calling.

    all collection agencies are crooks. they usually buy.. closed accounts for pennies and then try and get you to pay the original amount plus interest. they usually deal with lawyers so if you are in the right call Attorney General.

This raised my  anxiety levels evenmore when hung up on the SECOND TIME.  Called back and spoke with some lady who is a supervisor and told her that feel that her business iS a place which preys upon people.  So I gave her my dad's mobile number and TOLD her that I HANDLE ALL OF HIS PHONE CALLS PER HIS VERBAL PERMISSION AND TO STOP CALLING PEOPLE DURING THE DAY AT THEIR HOME DUE TO HARRASSING CALLS.

    i have been without a job for 3 years. i finally am receiving ssi and am trying to pay my bill. I can't seem to connect to anyone to pay my bill. What should I do?

    You can go to this site NO MORE ROBO CALLS.com I did and the phone will ring once the is transferred. It's great. We have gotten calls for my husband's sons and their ex wives, all because they put us as a reference.
