Under CA law is is harassment to call someone repeatedly and not say anything (silence to intimidate).

This company (319) 274-1902 called my home several times per week for 2 weeks.  When I or my wife answered the call there was no response - just silence.  Finally I had had enough and called back.  I asked immediately for them to stop calling me and to put me on their do not call list.  I was told they don't have a do not call list and then I was asked if "Valentina Johnson" lived here.  I told them no and tried to tell them how upset I was with them but they just said "all you have to say is its a wrong number."  Nonsense, they were clearly calling to get hold of this Valentina (my wife's name is Johnson and first name starts with V but not Valentina) and they were not going to say antything but keep calling until someone with the right accent answered the phone or someone called them back.  Silence being used to intimidate.  And they were targeting anyone with a name similar to this Valentina Johonson.

These guys need to be put out of business.

    I used to work for CBE, but I will say that those who use the "real job" phrase are likely the first ones not to know exactly what that means.

    CBE definitely breaks the law with their "debt collection" techniques. In fact, I have a lawsuit I just filed last week against them :)

    you people are mad at the wrong folks. did you ever hear the saying"dont shoot the messenger" well same applys here. collections is one of the hardest jobs there is. telling people they need to pay bills they dont have dime one to pay. personally i got paid a very good wage and commission to deal with jerks who dont know how to talk to people. it is a real job working with a million losers who dont pay their debts. it was the most chill of jobs and we laugh at people screaming at us . its funny because you are all being recorded an the best ones get listend to over and over again. im getting 15 $ bucks a hour for using verbal communication while you scream and curse and look ohh so stupid...hahaha   admittedly some people break the fdcpa when collecting because we spend hours listening to sob stories and lies and hate ..they have to resort to what they despise the most... dead beats  looking for blood out of a billion turnips..

      So D Rivers, I pay all of my bills, I have excellent credit. Someone says that I owe money that I do not owe and I can prove it and yet you say I am a dead beat. Do you even know what a dead beat is? You are a dumb*ss. Working for a company like that proves it!

      Why don't you invest some of that good wage & commission you earn and get yourself enrolled in an English class?  You act like your so superior to everyone else but if you would read what you posted, you would hopefully realize what an ignorant little [***] you are!  I read somewhere that many of these companies use prison inmates to make their collection calls.  So maybe instead of $15/hr.  it's more like $.15/hr.  By the way, where are you and your cellmate Big Bubba registered for your wedding registry?  Have a great day to you, the future Mrs. Big Bubba!

    CBE apparently purchased an account that was bogus. Directv states I owe them money from 2009. I changed to DISH (much cheaper, superior service, better equipment, and professionally executed transactions) . I refused to pay and had Amex dispute the charge. These wholes tried again to post a charge. Amex upheld the "owe nothing" decision.

    I personally believe there is a special place in hell for all money changers. Continue the tenacious anti cube posts.

    I understand how annoying continuous calls can be, but 3rd party collection agencies have FDCPA guidelines to follow INCLUDING NOT BEING ABLE TO DISCLOSE THAT THEY ARE A COLLECTION AGENCY BEFORE THEY FULLY VERIFY THE ACCOUNT INFO THE ORIGINAL COMPANY SENT TO THEM.  It's not that anyone is trying to be "sneaky" or intimidate, it's the law.  Cannot disclose confidential info to a third party.  They ask if that's your address and/or ssn to make sure they're speaking with the correct "john smith" becuz of this reason.  If it's the wrong number, it's removed from the DIALER so it's not called again.  If the dialer asks if this is so & so, & you press 2, this just means the person is not on the phone, not that's it's the wrong number.  Yes it's frustrating, but it's a person doing a job if you get to speak with a rep.  Do you appreciate someone cursing you out for doing yours?

    Well you dumbazz broad, they DON'T remove your number from their DIALER. When you ask them, they say they do not even HAVE a call LIST. BUT THEY LIE. THEY KEEP CALLING EVEN WHEN I TELL THEM NICELY THAT THE PERSON THEY ARE TRYING TO REACH IS A DEAD FAMILY MEMBER.

    By calling me a dumb [***] broad shows your character & mentality.  & there is no lists, they're accounts...ever think there's a glitch in the system??  Why waste they're time calling someone who's deceased?  Smh you're stressin your self out more just by how you're acting.  & yes, when someone's in debt, they do call several times til they reach someone.  It's a business, not people just callin for no reason.

      I understand you have a job to do as I stressed I was in collections for 5 years.... But when you call MY phone EVERYDAY beginning at 8am NEVER LEAVES A MESSAGE and makes that last call at 8:55pm when Im trying to get my 2year old to bed is STRESSFUL!!! You people just don't get it when we say REMOVE or STOP CALLING..... CBE is THE WORST Collections agency.... And will not stop calling.... So again as I said before if YOU DON'T LIKE BEING CURSED OUT make sure YOU go to your management in your next group huddle/meeting STRESS IT HOW MUCH YOU HATE IT!!!!

      We all need anyone's help. I am begging for an answer for all of us. What really pisses us more is there is a ? hour difference since day light savings just went into effect. Please help us !!!!!!!

    Hello to my fellow pissed off friends, in December 2011 is when CBE Group kept appearing in my caller ID. As most of you, or for me anyway, my first 2 calls to them were quite polite, but the third one was, let's say, very explicit. Why explicit? Because the guy was laughing at me for my allegations.
    I would love to fly to Cedar Rapids, Iowa and walk thru the door. No, no, no,
    not to be violent in what you may already thinking. But find the door that had a name and title such as Studley J. Field Mouse, VP of Operations or CEO or just plain dumb ass. I'm trying to keep my words from being too explicit for you to post this. We would have a short conversation of why am I there. I've began getting messages again in the last week and their so called name triggered a very quick remembrance of the last time. I want to know, please, how this cannot be stopped. My ISP (PC Internet, Cable and Phone) said the only thing they can do is let me change my number. What? How about changing your number. Of course not. Is there anyone out there, and there is, that can make all of this go away. Now I'm pissed for the rest of my day and just for being a
    U.S. citizen, working, pay + taxes where are you? You can do everything else, but why cant u come to our aid. Why? Why? Why? Answer us, please!!!!!!!
