hello

im from california and about a month ago i purchased an extended warranty thru fidelity automotive solutions and the product i got was from consumer direct warranty services. i paid $395 down and am paying $127.78 for a total of $2695. so i was told by rob @ fidelity that my warranty would be activated after 30 and 1000 miles. so i waited and took my car in to the dealer for a diagnostic. the dealer then tried to file a claim online @ www.beginaclaim.com he then called me saying my claim was denied. i was thinking to myself thats impossible cuz the cooling fan is a covered part under the warranty i purchase plan called secure choice. i then started doin some research online i found this site with a bunch of complaints just like mine. this company is very clever in minupulating people into buying false products. can anyone help me in gettin my money back ... im lost!

Purchased a warranty in 2008 from Warranty Assurance Company, DBA Vehicle Assurance Company, located in Boca Raton FL. Go ahead and Google these scumbags if you like. They are still in business! I paid $2800 to MepCo Finance, who I believe has their hands deep in this scam, and has for many years. My rep, Matt Wedemier, (866)522-5581, x1000 (of course does not currently work at WAC) called my home during dinner time for months and convinced me to "trust him". It turns out that even scumbags like Warranty Assurance has stopped taking contracts from CDW, who was the actual company that MepCo collected the funds for. My mechanic cannot even get in touch with anyone to cover an engine parts bill of $1500. I drive a Lexus that has had all service done by the dealer since new. That vehicle was covered thru Lexus until 70K miles. I wish I took the extended (beyond 70K warranty with them and not CDW and Mepco.) email me at geted4me@yahoo.com if I can get in a class action suit.

I'm in the process of trying to get who ever these people are to pay for work I had done three days ago, that was "covered" by my "warranty" through US Fidelis, Mepco, CDW, who ever. But getting what looks more and more like the run around. The place that did the repair, and I have called all the numbers we were told to call and faxed what we were told they needed. And we just keep getting instructed to do more. I'm getting very pissed off about spending all this time, and money to get nothing. I bought into this about two years ago, and this is my first claim, holy crap what a joke! Not funny!
So please contact me if anyone has a good lawyer, I want my money back.

I'm out in California and would be very interested in taking legal action against these people. I've had a "warranty" contract with them for over two years, and have paid them over $2000 for "coverage". Recently I filed my first claim for some thing that is covered. I've gotten no where with them, just the big run around. The work I had done is covered, but they just keep making up reasons why it was denied. They had even told the place where I had the work done that every thing was ok, but getting them to pay is a joke! I ended up paying for it my self because after three days I needed to have my car. So I asked about being refunded the cost, and got a whole new batch of reasons why I had been denied because we didn't do some thing right. Hard to believe that people like this can get away with this for so long. Please contact me at hobiebagnall@gmail.com, thank you!

They were careful to not list their address
and now to avoid human contact.
It is clear that the scam was planned from the
beginning.  A class action suit is needed.
Anyone with experience or advice on proceeding
    with this?

I too was scammed by Consumer Direct Warranty Service - salesman was john mcduffy.  Promised the world and very persistent..
I know it's too late for me but for others that are even thinking of purchasing this junk  DON'T DO IT!...
I've never heard back after faxing claim.  There is no live customer support. Just a run-around at cdws....I'm so upset... $2k down the drain, not mention time wasted.  i hope there is a class action law suit against this company....

Department of Insurance Slams Consumer Direct Warranty Services for Unlicensed Sale of Insurance
Dilbert taps into consumer frustration with the comic strip posted below. Call it wry humor. But the California Department of Insurance doesn't think consumer fraud is funny. Whether they are referred to as "service contracts," "extended warranties" or "mechanical breakdown insurance," vehicle repair agreements are a big profit center for new and used car dealers. Telemarketers or internet schemes may tout them as well. Often such contracts are unnecessary. Even illusory. Some of these products are legal, but many are not. In the midst of a slick sales pitch, almost no one reads the prolix printed warranty form. That is a mistake Dilbert's "confusopoly consultant" wants you to make. Now the Department of Insurance is clamping down.

For many years, car dealers have claimed that these after-market products do not qualify as insurance and they do not have to be licensed to sell them. That may change. On June 17, 2010, the California Department of Insurance issued a Cease and Desist order against Consumer Direct Warranty Services and related entities. You can read the Department's full press release here.

Some dealer service contracts fall within an exception to the insurance rules. However, in order to exploit that loophole, car dealers must follow certain procedures, have back-up insurance, provide cancellation rights and comply with other regulations.

"If you want to sell insurance in California, you must obtain a license, have adequate financial reserves and you must not deceive consumers," said Commissioner Poizner. "In order to protect California consumers, there are specific requirements for insurance companies seeking to do business in California. If companies do not abide by these requirements, they will not be permitted to sell insurance in our state."

The Insurance commissioner's website goes a step further to promote consumer protection. Check out its "Guide to Auto Service Contracts and Agreements" here. If you have purchased a service contract or extended warranty that does not comply with these rules, contact us even before your car breaks down.

Sites like this one are a Godsend!!!
Yes, I believe I am being scammed right now.  I ended up here because I nor my mechanic can otherwise contact CDWS.  My 1993 190E Mercedes started overheating two weeks ago. I put it in the shop a week ago. I have had the CDWS warranty for almost a year, making monthly payments.  My repair company faxed the necessary documents to CDWS and it's been three days with no response.  Telephone calls go unanswered.  I am going to send them and my lawyer an email.  If there is a class action lawsuit i'm in!!! email me at glenz1258@att.net

I got to the tail end of my payments of $171 for 15 months not to mention my down payment of $285 and filed a claim on the policy for a starter on my Lexus. My policy was supposed to cover me for 5 years. After the company shut down every means of communicating with them other than a bogus fax # and E-mail address they finally contacted the garage I had my car in and said that the claim was denied and coverage was discontinued for a ridiculous excuse. They got almost all their money, of course they don't need to pay a claim. My garage said that the questions they asked and the practices of their business seemed very shady. I would love to be apart of any class action against them.
They stated I would have to contact my seller to reactive my account. The number on my contract gives a recorded message saying the number had been compromised and no longer worked. So they have all my money and I have no means of contacting them to dispute their denial of payments. They are a total fraud!

I paid $3200 for a 100% coverage policy.  In their words.  "Brake pads, tires, batteries and windshield wiper blades are not covered"  "Everything else is."  My car has been a gem and should have this coverage until 155K miles or 7 years.  First time my check engine light comes on I take it to the dealer and my claim is denied.  Now I see all these complaints.  Guess Im screwed? CDWS totally ripped me off.  They are utter thieves.
