Leather sofas

We purchased a leather sofa and loveseat made by Chateau D'Ax and sold by Raymour & Flanigan. The sofas were extremely expensive but we considered them an investment. Leather is supposed to get better with age and last 2-3 times as long as upholstered furniture. Our couches certainly have not improved with age. The leather has worn thin and there are now multiple holes which a patch cannot take care of. The protective finish has also worn off the cushions. I called the company to ask about cleaning products and conditioners and a pompous fool could babble nothing but "your manufacturer's warranty has expired".Couldn't even offer me a list of approved cleaners or conditioners--heaven forbid a leather furniture manufacturer actually carry their own products. Save your money and buy less expensive couches and than just replce them every few years. I definitely do not recommend Chateau D'Ax, better re-named Chateau D'Crap!

I have a leather Chateau D'aux sofa and it looks brand new.  Bought it new about seven years ago.  Keep it away from both sun and heat sources along with every couple months put a high quality leather conditioner on it for it to last for years.  I suggest the complainers are either hard on furniture or too stupid to know how to take care of a quality leather sofa.  Hate to see what the rest of their house looks like.  Good grief some people are just plain dumb.

This is cow hide you are talking about.  How much abuse do you think a cow takes.  I've owned genuine top grain leather for the past 17 years and you don't have to baby it, that's the whole point.  Real top grain leather shouldn' t be peeling and fading, it should age extremely well.  If you have to baby it like that then it's either bonded or bi-cast.

I am about to have delivered a Novara leather sectional made by Chateau D Ax. by Macy,s.  I am scared to death, after reading over 60 negative comments telling people to Beware!! Do not buy anything from Chateau D Ax. regarding peeling, tearing , color fading, etc.  Does anyone have this Novara piece, which is the one that is 100 percent leather?? and did you have any problems?

Purchased a Chateau Leather Sectional at Macy's Florida, horrible frame quality, cushions do not have any support and you feel the frame while sitting. Used the furniture for only 3 months and already having problems.

Unacceptable for a sectional costing over $3,000.00

Hi, I'm planing on purchasing a chateau sectional, it was at city furniture. It was $3,900 and I'm not sure if I should get it from reading all the complaints on here.
What about buying the extended warranty? Did anyone purchase that and did it help?
I'm a bit confused though, at the store they said it was called chateau but on their website it said "lira" ugh....
Guess I better do more research on this
    S particular sectional.

ust got marsala couch  from raymore and flannigan  cut a piece of "leather" from inside the couch, under the dust cover for color matching.i thought it was cloth fabric with ultra thin sliver of leather .looks like i was right. now what 100% leather item tells you to clean with damp white cloth only ? automotive leather gets cleaned and conditioned.why not this couch, because its only a thin layer of leather glued to fabric. the leather part is porous, and the conditioner will get absorbed all the way to the glue holding it to the clothe material due to it being so thin and will cause separation of leather layer and clothe.
as it was said prior , i to believe the couches in europe must be a true thick solid leather and not made for sale at " a poor mans furniture store with price points that i can afford . they got me, the first time shame on them, the next time? NO, there won't be a next time, i will only buy clothe material , unless i hit the lottery and can spend $10,000 or more on a couch.
being this couch is brand new and R&F has no return or refunds, i will look into how to make it last as long as possible . LOL gotta luv it !

My first hand knowledge of purchasing furniture from Macy's and specifically this manufacturer compels me to recommend you buy used orange crates from Goodwill before purchasing from Macy's. They will say anything for a sale, and as far as the "worry no-more" warranty. haha.
    Buyer beware.

Bought 3 piece Chateau D'Ax love seat, sofa and Bench in white Leather in 2005 that's 10 years ago and furniture looks like brand new even today July 1015. We are totally satisfied with quality. Bought at Bassett Furnture Store. Very expensive but worth it

Yoh, this is scary! I almost purchased a used sofa which was supposedley still in GOOD condition and never been used for R20,000. Thank God I googled this "Chateaux d'Ax - Italian Leather Lounge Suite" I have changed my mind, as that is a lot of money for me to waste for a bad quality Lounge suite. NO wonder why it has never been used. Ouch

We bought a leather sofa and two leather chairs from Macys a few years ago....leather is fading....BUT most annoying is the reclining mechanism.  The wire pull strap to recline in the sofa/chair has broken three times....twice in the sofa and once in a chair.....only two of us live in the house....lite usage.....bad product.......

Stay away from Chateau d'Ax! We bought a leather sectional, and about a year after the warranty expired, the cushions deflated like popped balloons during a period of less than a week. Raymour and Flanagan told us it couldn't even be repaired at our expense because the cushions are sewn in. We have cheaper, older furniture that looks better. $5500 our loss, Raymour's gain. We will never patronize that store again.
