DO NOT BUY MAYTAG AND DO NOT USE A& E FACTORY SERVICE!

This is a complaint against both A&E Factory Service and Maytag (which is Whirlpool).

We purchased a microwave in April. In June the Microwave breaks. We call Whirlpool and then tell us to call their ‘preferred warranty service’ A& E. We call A& E and were told the soonest they could come out would be in 10 days. In addition, we have to be home between the hours of 8am and 5pm (not kidding about that) and if the drive called and no one answered it would be an automatic reschedule. So my husband take off of work and sits by the phone waiting.

Around 3:30 he calls A& E to see how much longer he needs to wait. They tell him we are next on the list. At 5:45pm the technician calls to tell us they would not be coming out and need to reschedule. You can imagine how happy I was to hear that. The soonest they could get us in was July 23rd. I asked to speak with the manager and after all my complaining they moved it up to the 19th. Same rules apply. Need to be at home between 8am and 5pm and you must answer the phone when they call. A& E does show on July 19th  and says he needs to order parts and would reschedule us for August 1 st .

I don’t think so!! I call A& E and get no where. They can’t do anything, they need to order parts and don’t know when they will be in. Now I call Maytag (Whirlpool) to complain regarding their ‘preferred warranty service provider’ and to see what we can do. They said they are going to put a rush on the parts, have them shipped directly to A& E and give me an extra year warranty on my microwave.

Ok, not happy, but I will settle. That was on the 19th. On the 23rd  I called Maytag to see if they had an estimated ship date of the parts. They have no record that parts were ordered (just what I wanted to hear). I speak with the supervisor and she tells me the parts are on back order and she will call me in 3-4 days to let me know one of two things. Either they will wait for the parts and repair the microwave OR they will just replace it. That day came and gone.

I called Maytag again. They tell me the parts won’t be here until August 20th and they are sending my ‘case’ to a special division to see if they can get my microwave replace. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! Here it is the 31st , no parts and still my microwave is not working. I have been without a microwave for a month now. NOT ACCEPTABLE. DO NOT BUY MAYTAG AND DO NOT USE A& E FACTORY SERVICE!!!!!!!!

I agree 100%.  Maytag and A&E (aka Sears) have run the same exact scam on me with my Fridge.  10 days to get there just to look at a know recall problem.  No parts, Have to order parts that will take 10 days. No record of call, no interest in having needed parts sent for the repair.  A Maytag/Whirlpool warranty is absolutely worthless.  It seems like they want you to give up on your claim and go pay out of your pocket so they drag out each and every interaction to make it as excruciatingly painful as possible.  I will never purchase a sears, kenmore, whirlpool or maytag appliance every again and I encourage anyone reading this to avoid this company at all costs.

All of the messages pretaining to this complaint are warranted!!  I have already spent $200+ in repairs on Maytag model # 12569VE82 (French Door, bottom freezer, in-door ice.water dispenser model) in an attempt to repair, to no avail. Continual problem with this model -- seems to be no end to repairs!!  Now, serviceman says compressor is out, AFTER intalling $100+ compressor regulator.  My best advice:  Maytag "Lonely repairman" is a joke.  Seems corporate-America is untouchable.  THANK YOU CONGRESSIONAL REPS! What a load of b.s.!!

We are having the exact same issue. It is going on four weeks without a refrigerator. I am completely disgusted with Maytag and their so-called 'service' providers. It is ridiculous that an appliance company providing a product that their consumers rely on daily, seems to have all of the necessary parts 'back ordered'. And finally after two and a half weeks of chasing down the parts, we were stood up by the service provider. Apparently, the tech called in sick, yet no one bothered to call his appointments to cancel? I believe our service provider is A&E as well, though my fiance was handling the calls directly. We're still without a fridge and have to wait another 6 days for a tech to fit us in the schedule. I also encourage anyone reading this to avoid Maytag products!!

I'll never buy maytag again . Your dishwasher  had the control panel changed 3 times  within the 5 year extended warranty and now would need another new one but I'm throwing it up in the garbage. Really desapointed.

Maytag 1 yr old regrigerator fails to cool in June 2007.   Maytag chooses A & E for Warranty service which only come to my rural area on Mondays. Tech reports low system, fixed, no leaks.  Early August I report frig fails to cool.  8/13 tech reports low system, a leak, orders 5 parts.  8/20 tech installs new parts.  8/28 I report total cooling failure.  9/10 A & E doesn't come, doesn't call. I call A & E-Tech notes report ordering a kit to find leak, next appt. 9/17 to determine where the leak is. How many appts. will there be after that?  I have requested a new refrigerator replacement. Maytag Cust. Service supervisor says the A & E tech hasn't reported or spoken to Maytag's "Tech LIne" of experienced repair technicians and can't authorize replacement.  I wait on the line and insist the supervisor demand the A & E tech to call and discuss problem. I ask for the company president's name and mailing address.  I call A & E and demand copies of all service reports.   This refrigerator is at my lake home 360 miles round trip away from where I live.   I am living out of a cooler with blocks of ice.  I have had to applogize to family and guests for the inconvenience, had to cancel or reschedule other appts,  make extra unscheduled trips for repair dates, and it's not over yet.

Well Greg if Maytag is a great Product, then why so many breakdowns?  I'm a  Union Member and believe totally in buying American Made Products, but a scam is a scam American or otherwise and should be reported as such. That's what these American Consumers are voicing their opinions on.

I bought two Maytag appliances for our weekend home, a refrigerator and dishwasher.  They are both under three years old and both have had to be repaired.  The dishwasher cost over $500 to repair (wouldn't have done it if I had known).  We called a local repair service for the dishwasher and the guy said he had to take the broken parts with him and send them back to the factory in order to get his deposit back on the parts.  Not sure I believe him.  For the refrigerator, we called Maytag first and they gave us one of their factory approved service people and said that they would pay for the replacement part but we had to pay for the labor.  That repair cost us just a little over $100 (and of course all the food that we lost).  I appreciate that Maytag stepped up on the refrigerator (second time the refrigerator stopped cooling btw) but don't know why they won't for the dishwasher.  I have a Maytag washer and dryer and had a warranty on them both.  They had to be fixed (was installed improperly) and I cannot complain about those (yet!).  It seems that Maytag has some serious design flaws and would not recommend them.  I think that the store (ABT in Glenview) had to have known that the Maytag products were inferior and am boycotting them as well.

have a French doorf maytag frig.  bought 2009 has never maintained the temp u set it for.  went through a period of time when it would freeze milk, next day temp would be in the 50's. worst frig I have ever owned. also purchased a maytag smoothtop range same year. has been ok until last week when the baking element burned out.  sound from the oven when the element went was like a small explosion.  this also caused the control panel to go bad.  just received word from the repairman that the cost to replace the element and control panel will be 496.00.   u can buy a decent stove for that amount.  my question is, why do they manufacture a product that has a chain-reaction breakdown.  when one part goes bad it causes other parts to go bad.   used to be when the oven element burned out all u needed to do was replace the element.  apparently maytag element burnout requires a complete overall of the stove and I believe they are made that way so sell their high priced parts.  needless to say, I will never buy another product made by maytag or any brand made by the company that mfg maytag.

I bought a Maytag dryer thinking it was better than GE. The dryer was "fixed" once under warranty and now will only dry two loads before shutting off. It is only 18months old!!! I had my GE dryer 12 years!! Don't tell me Maytag is better than GE. When I call the service number, all they want to do is sell me a service contract. They are not interested in fixing their product.

Brand doesn't matter --  I've tried most of the so-called "Name Brands"  Results are always the same:  more "Fresh Hell".  Maytag is now owned by Whirlpool.  Different name, same ole game:  "Screw the customer" at all costs is the norm.  Buyer beware!

Whirlpool may have been the so-called "Best", once-upon-a-time.  If Customer Complaints are no longer warranted, then why is this website still here??  YOU are merely another pundit, used for midleading the consuming publlic.  WHO pays your $$??  Let me guess  . . . . . ,

I am a another discusted customer.  My dryer is 4 years old and needs a new timer. I was refered by MAYTAG to A&E and they are impossible to work with. After spending $250.00 I am giving up and going to buy another brand rather than schedule another appointment with A&E. They give you a window of between 8 and 5 for the work and they wnat to come out three times to fix a simple proble.  The tech left me an estimate because i was not home to approive the 1st esitmate and they claim that is automacally declining the estimate. I called and accepted the estimate the same day and they still want to send out another thech to do the same thing as the 1st with out the part in hand.  Insanity!  I will buy a high end european brand dryer and hope they are built better and have better service.

Don't buy maytag!  it's all cheap crap!

Thanks for the adivice.  Seems like most things are more reliable nowdays than those purchased from "outsourced American manufacturers."  Cheap labor = bad quality, yet these corporate-cronies are making mega-bucks!  Same on the out-sourcers!  Hell awaits.  Have no doubt.
