DO NOT BUY MAYTAG AND DO NOT USE A& E FACTORY SERVICE!
Complaint

Country: United States
This is a complaint against both A&E Factory Service and Maytag (which is Whirlpool).
We purchased a microwave in April. In June the Microwave breaks. We call Whirlpool and then tell us to call their ‘preferred warranty service’ A& E. We call A& E and were told the soonest they could come out would be in 10 days. In addition, we have to be home between the hours of 8am and 5pm (not kidding about that) and if the drive called and no one answered it would be an automatic reschedule. So my husband take off of work and sits by the phone waiting.
Around 3:30 he calls A& E to see how much longer he needs to wait. They tell him we are next on the list. At 5:45pm the technician calls to tell us they would not be coming out and need to reschedule. You can imagine how happy I was to hear that. The soonest they could get us in was July 23rd. I asked to speak with the manager and after all my complaining they moved it up to the 19th. Same rules apply. Need to be at home between 8am and 5pm and you must answer the phone when they call. A& E does show on July 19th and says he needs to order parts and would reschedule us for August 1 st .
I don’t think so!! I call A& E and get no where. They can’t do anything, they need to order parts and don’t know when they will be in. Now I call Maytag (Whirlpool) to complain regarding their ‘preferred warranty service provider’ and to see what we can do. They said they are going to put a rush on the parts, have them shipped directly to A& E and give me an extra year warranty on my microwave.
Ok, not happy, but I will settle. That was on the 19th. On the 23rd I called Maytag to see if they had an estimated ship date of the parts. They have no record that parts were ordered (just what I wanted to hear). I speak with the supervisor and she tells me the parts are on back order and she will call me in 3-4 days to let me know one of two things. Either they will wait for the parts and repair the microwave OR they will just replace it. That day came and gone.
I called Maytag again. They tell me the parts won’t be here until August 20th and they are sending my ‘case’ to a special division to see if they can get my microwave replace. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! Here it is the 31st , no parts and still my microwave is not working. I have been without a microwave for a month now. NOT ACCEPTABLE. DO NOT BUY MAYTAG AND DO NOT USE A& E FACTORY SERVICE!!!!!!!!

problem fix it for way less money and cure your problem. They were built to last more metal less plastic
to break. I work on washers & dryers I had a real old Maytag over 30 years old the other day had a small problem ,switch was bad fixed it for $35.00. It ran quieter and smoother than any newer ones I've seen lately and didn't jump around on the floor . It might use a little more water but it gets your clothes clean, you can't get something for nothing. In the long run you will be ahead with a lot less problems & less money . Your service man might
like that too.
and we set-up an appointment for service on Tuesday, February 10, 2008. The A&E
service company did not tell me that there would be a charge for coming out
to diagnose the malfunctioning parts of our microwave and range taht we purchased just 9 months ago. . The
service man was to be here between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm; so we
patienetly waited all day and at 5:30 pm, he calls to say that the only way
that he is coming out to service our appliances is that if we pay him
because this soil/splatter/stain that is between the microwave glass and the range glass is
not covered under warranty(in which no one informed us). We did not know
that up front and are very disappointed in the fact that we thought that
Magtag was the best of the best and that's the reason of our purchasing this
name brand. We immediately called Magtag as soon as we hung up our phone
from the service person that never came and Magtag informed us that this
wasn't covered and that's the way its going be, sorry! So, as we told them
and we will tell you that we am very disappointed that we were treated this
way and I will be telling my friends and family to never buy Maytag.
Nevertheless any apologies will not help the fact that our range and
microwave look like "crap" and our family and friends will just see it in
bold daylight. We have been cooking on different ranges and using
microwaves for 25+ years and never have experienced this malfunction. We
keep all of our appliances very clean. NEVER will we buy Maytag! We will be posting this information on Maytag's website as well if applicable. Lisa (very agitated customer)
Let me ask: What can I expect? Are they still the pits, as I have been reading on webites everywhere? Will they try to charge me, even though they're saying it's FREE?
-------------------------------------------------------
Here's what I've gone thru in the past:
"I paid around $1100 for a Model #MSB2354GRW with a five year warranty in the October 2002. It actually ran fine until June of 2007, when I woke up one morning to a puddle of water in the floor where the freezer had quit working. Within a day or so, the refridgerator didn't work either. Working with the local company I purchased it from was crazy. They sent a very lackadaisical repairman who hemmed and hawed, and basically charged me $60 for the trip and did nothing.
When they wouldn't answer my calls, I finally I ended up taking off work and going there, and got in a rather heated discussion with the owner. He then called Maytag and found out what parts I would need. I had a bad feeling about it, but there are not that many Maytag dealerships in the area, so I decided to go ahead with the repairs, and so they came and got my unit. They kept it for about two weeks. Although the compressor was covered by the warrantee, they still charged me for a defrost timer.
Guess what, in one month, the freezer quit working again. I called the 1-800 number on the customer satisfaction card that Whirlpool sent me. They advised me to call the place back and ask them if they had a "callback policy". So I did, and the employee answering the phone said he believed they had a 90 day policy. They did not sound enthusiastic about helping me. He said the owner would be in soon, and he would have him call me. It was well over 24 hours before they ever called me back. They had my home phone number and my work phone number, and both have answering machines.
The repairman described the problem as being in the sealed system of the compressor they just replaced a month before. So, once again, they sent the moving men (we are getting to know each other on a first name basis). In order to get the fridge out of the house, they have to remove the door between the kitchen and the living room. Then they have to remove the doors from the refridgerator. Even at that, they can just barely get it through. It was sweltering hot that day. Sense of humor, anyone?
I checked with my homeowner's insurance to see whether they would reimburse my losses on my food. Unfortunately, they would not, since I have a $500 deductible and they said they didn’t think I lost $500 worth of food.
OK, the refridgerator stayed fixed for two weeks. THEN IT BROKE DOWN FOR THE THIRD TIME. After three times, I am pretty sure I have lost much more than $500 worth of food. It is a nightmare. I had to throw out package after package of food that had never even been opened. I have had to eat in restaurants every meal, and keep perishables in an ice chest.
So, they came and got it again. This time they called me back the very next day and wanted to bring it back. I asked, “Are you absolutely SURE it is fixed now?” They said yes. What was wrong, I asked. Oh there was some green stuff on a wire, they said.
Quite frankly, I don’t think I can go through this any more. So what I did was this: when they delivered it (two hours later than they said they would) I had the garage door open and a nice area cleared out. I told them, you won’t have to do all the work you’ve been doing: Just put it here in the garage. They got a funny look on their faces and one of them asked if I had another refridgerator lined up. I didn’t answer any questions."
----------------------------
I did have a contingency plan.
My sister let me use a reliable old fridge of hers.
I didn't not know which way to go: Try to sell it or try to get it fixed. I have never been thru so much crapola in my entire life over an appliance.
One thing I do know: I wouldn’t buy a Maytag can opener, if it cost fifty cents. Goodbye!!!
The water temperature is COMPLETELY RANDOM!!! Now... when I say "completely random" just take my word for it... don't try to come up with a creative explanation for why after exhausting all of the common sense explanations... THERE IS NO REASONABLE EXCUSE FOR THIS TO HAPPEN. My husband and I have been trying to rationalize it since nearly day one.
Yes, the hoses are hooked up correctly. No, they are not clogged or pinched... and YES we DID call the service center.
I AM SO INCREDIBLY ANGRY about this today!!!
The freaking washing machine has a mind of its own. I tried to use COLD water and it came out scalding HOT!!!!!!!!!!! I could have been burned and it was quite a shock because I was expecting COLD water!!!!
We noticed this problem several months ago.
Yes, again, the hoses are hooked up correctly.
Sometimes you set it on COLD and you get COLD. My husband and I were at a loss understanding what was happening because customer service told us that this was impossible. NOT TO MENTION!!!! the washer was less than 6 months old and they told us that we had purchased our washer TWO YEARS AGO!!!! SO IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY!!!! WTF!!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
IT WAS BRAND NEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We didn't order a USED WASHER!!!!!
So now we have this piece of poo washer that has crazy temperatures and it just poured scalding hot water all over my husband's rust stained military uniform!!!
DO THEY FREAKING THINK WE'RE MADE OUT OF FREAKING MONEY OR SOMETHING!!!!????
It would be nice JUST FOR ONCE to pay HUNDREDS of dollars for something and HAVE IT ACTUALLY WORK CORRECTLY!!!!!!
This isn't even CLOSE to being the first time the washer has done this... however we wracked our minds and came up with some dim-wit explanation for this... something along the lines of... it must be trying to regulate it?I have the same problem here. My freaking washing machine has a mind of its own. Today I tried to use COLD water and it came out scalding HOT!!!!!!!!!!! I could have been burned and it was quite a shock because I was expecting COLD water!!!!

We just didn't want to believe that we got completely SCREWED!!!!
THE LAST FREAKING STRAW!!!!
There is NO EXPLANATION FOR THIS DEMONIC MACHINE.
I'll NEVER buy Maytag again and hopefully soon I can push this god forsaken thing off a cliff.
started all this electronic junk. You can pick up one for $150.00 or $200.00 spend a little money on it if needed.
You will save yourself a lot of trouble and cost those old one were built to last I've seen some over 30 years
old that run good and they can be fixed way cheaper. Knob type no electronics. Unless you want to impress someone with a fancy one that don't work.
have the parts on the truck unless it's something like a motor or timer. It's hard to make 4 or 5 trips on
one service call. They will never get anything done like that. That's why they have to charge so much.
You need to undesrand that these postings are not only disgruntled customers but people who do not want you to fall victim to the same problmes they had to deal with. Heed this advice and dont take chances. It will cost you dearly later.
Those old machines lasted over 30 years and can still be repaired I do all the time. You can buy one for
$200.00 sometimes way less. Even if you have to spend a little money on it you will be better off.
They were built to last not like the ones today. They were proud of their products & wanted you to come back
& people did, not as often but they told everyone how good they were & it helped their business.
I will not let my wife buy a new washer or dryer. They are JJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJunk.
