DO NOT BUY MAYTAG AND DO NOT USE A& E FACTORY SERVICE!

This is a complaint against both A&E Factory Service and Maytag (which is Whirlpool).

We purchased a microwave in April. In June the Microwave breaks. We call Whirlpool and then tell us to call their ‘preferred warranty service’ A& E. We call A& E and were told the soonest they could come out would be in 10 days. In addition, we have to be home between the hours of 8am and 5pm (not kidding about that) and if the drive called and no one answered it would be an automatic reschedule. So my husband take off of work and sits by the phone waiting.

Around 3:30 he calls A& E to see how much longer he needs to wait. They tell him we are next on the list. At 5:45pm the technician calls to tell us they would not be coming out and need to reschedule. You can imagine how happy I was to hear that. The soonest they could get us in was July 23rd. I asked to speak with the manager and after all my complaining they moved it up to the 19th. Same rules apply. Need to be at home between 8am and 5pm and you must answer the phone when they call. A& E does show on July 19th  and says he needs to order parts and would reschedule us for August 1 st .

I don’t think so!! I call A& E and get no where. They can’t do anything, they need to order parts and don’t know when they will be in. Now I call Maytag (Whirlpool) to complain regarding their ‘preferred warranty service provider’ and to see what we can do. They said they are going to put a rush on the parts, have them shipped directly to A& E and give me an extra year warranty on my microwave.

Ok, not happy, but I will settle. That was on the 19th. On the 23rd  I called Maytag to see if they had an estimated ship date of the parts. They have no record that parts were ordered (just what I wanted to hear). I speak with the supervisor and she tells me the parts are on back order and she will call me in 3-4 days to let me know one of two things. Either they will wait for the parts and repair the microwave OR they will just replace it. That day came and gone.

I called Maytag again. They tell me the parts won’t be here until August 20th and they are sending my ‘case’ to a special division to see if they can get my microwave replace. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! Here it is the 31st , no parts and still my microwave is not working. I have been without a microwave for a month now. NOT ACCEPTABLE. DO NOT BUY MAYTAG AND DO NOT USE A& E FACTORY SERVICE!!!!!!!!

I made the mistake of purchasing a front load Maytag about 8 years ago.  I didn't know they were notorious for mold & mildew - terrible smell, terrible side effects, terrible contamination of clothing - and I didn't know when I bought it that there was a Tort Lawsuit against the company....
I was too late to join the lawsuit or I would have.  Long story short, they would not replace the machine, they would not refund me, they never recalled the washers but kept selling them to unsuspecting customers to make the almighty buck. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM.  EVER.

I got the same offer for an extended warranty.  Also, one crisper drawer alone costs $80 to replace at their website.  Cheap and poorly made product!

I could not agree more with anyone saying not to buy maytag I bought a washer in 2011 and I have had 6 repair calls due to my machine not spinning out I told them right from the get go I got a lemon machine to just replace it with one that works, they said absolutely not.The piece of junk machine was again repaired 2 weeks ago I did 5 loads of laundry and here I sit with my clothes again sitting in a tub of water cause its not spinning out AGAIN I have fought and fought with this company to replace the machine and they will not budge and if you think about it it really would have been cheaper to replace rather than all these repair calls, I am disabled and not capable of wringing my laundry out or carry wet clothes to laundromat and I informed this of this matter and they come back with sorry to hear that I am now researching my legal avenue.MAYTAG APPLIANCES ARE THE WORST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been having trouble with my Maytag wash machine sine I purchased it from Home Depot. It sounds like an airplane ready to take off in my hallway. A&E has been out here many times. Plus the machine has a foul smell. I love my dryer and all the sales people at Home Depot in Santa Rosa. Esp. Brian and Sue.
I do not like the service at A&E. They are awful. Each one of them tell you a different story or fix. Nothing seems to work.

I'm sorry to hear about all the problems y'all have had.  We've been using Kenmore/Whirlpool appliances (washers, dryers, fridges, dishwashers) exclusively for over 40 years with exceptional good luck.  The appliances all work well for years and years, and are easy to work on and repair (my hubby is a mechanical wizard and can fix most anything).  Also, we've found the repair parts to be among the least expensive.  Fridgidaire - Not so much!!!  But you'll forgive me for singing their praises and enjoying trouble-free service from Kenmore/Whirlpool appliances.  No experience with repair service or warranties, however, since Hubby is my own personal serviceman.  God bless!

We bought a Maytag dishwasher less than 2 years ago and when I called for the repair, the man at Maytag told me that "Maytag dishwashers always have mother board problems."  He tried to sell me a warranty for a year for $280. and the repair would have been over that.  I can't believe a company like Maytag is lying to the public about their dishwashers.  I will never buy Maytag again!!!!!!  This machine is less than 2 years old.  My old one was going on 11 years and finally broke down.  We are disgusted about spending our hard-earned money on this dishwasher.  Maytag basically said we are out of luck on warranty of parts. The mother board is not included.

We purchased a Neptune and it is one that is under recall MAH 8700, but we were never notified that it was under recall. We were completely unaware of the problem until it destroyed our machine. The problem is that there is an internal leak that could cause a fire. Well in our case, it didnt cause a fire, but it leaked on the components that caused it to no longer run. Before this incident, we had numerous problems with the machine and never got any resolution. I've purchased maytag products in the past and have been pleased with them, but this is probably my last purchase. I'm frustrated that these machines are pricey machines and then when something goes wrong that was because of their faulty manufacture, they will not make it right. I would think they'd want to make it right and keep a loyal customer, but our loyalty has ended. We will be looking for another brand. Any suggestions?

I am a very unhappy Maytag customer. I purchased a new washer/dryer set in May of 2012. I then found out that it was on backorder which was fine until the fact that it didn't actually come in until the end of August 2012. Now, it hasn't even been a year since we got the washer and it stopped working on us. We called and it took about 5 days for the service person to come out and take a look at it. We then find out that the main circuit board is unresponsive so it will have to be replaced as well as the motor. I don't know how the main component of the washer just quits like that on such a new machine. Well all that was fine until the service person called to let us know the parts were on backorder. We were then told Whirlpool had 72 hours to find the parts we needed or our account would be escalated and they would have to replace our machine. Well it has been over 72 hours now so we have called and all of a sudden they just happened to find a part. Now we have a wait a day before they will ship it and then it will be about 3 days before it gets here. Well then we will have to wait another week before the service person can come and fix it. I have been without a washer for 3 weeks now and think this is absolutely ridiculous customer service. We keep getting passed on from person to person and keep getting the same script answers from everyone. No one is willing to do anyting and we keep getting told that we have to just keep waiting. The best they can do is to extend our warranty by 6 months which is nothing considering everything we have gone through and dealt with trying to get this pair and now get it fixed. Our old washer/dryer set we had for 10 years and never had any major problems so we decided to stick with the same brand. I am already trying to find a new pair as I do not want to deal with the hassel and problems that this set has caused me over the past year. I don't think I will ever give any of my money to any of their appliances ever again.

I too have had a nightmare with a Maytag Appliance- dishwasher. MDB8959AWS3.... Although at the time of purchase, I believed I had bought a top of the line Stainless Steel dishwasher.  The racks tip forward with the weight.  So although I have appliance warranty in place thru Xcel energy- the plan does not cover the racks... and after only 3 years of dealing with this lemon of a machine, a repair man informed me that the parts did not appear to be installed in my machine.  I called Maytag to ask if something could be done, and was informed that Although I paid for the parts to be on the machine, it was my fault that I didn't notice they weren't there.  As the hot water warms the plastic parts to teh adjustable rack, and then this plastic cools... you can imagine the cracks that occcur on the upper racks adjustable arms... when a "stabalizer" wheel is not even included in the machine.  So After my call to Maytag, I am left baffled that I purchased parts that should have been included with my original purchase, only to find out that they shipped only one side of the racks parts needed, and I will now have to call once again and request additional parts.   I Still do not have the "stablizer" part 8270018 and as I am researching this on the internet, I am not the only person who has purchased this machine and found the top racks tilting forward.   When you spend good money on a machine, you expect it to last years.  I am Shocked at the customer service departments response that I should have known which parts were to be on the machine.  After speaking to a manager, I was basically informed that I would have to order the parts to repair the machine, that there really was nothing more they would do.  After ordering, what I believed to be what was needed, I was shipped parts only for the one side of machine- the right side.  Shouldn't a manager be aware that two sets were needed? .. Shouldn't a manager care that I still don't have the stablizing wheel 8270018- which appears to be noted on the internet as being now replaced by another part.  Perhaps I should simply have not only a tilted Maytag top rack, but also a lopsided  one- since I only have the parts to the one side.

I bought a Maytag front load washer from Home Depot, and I had major problems with it since the very beginning: to begin with, the cold water cycle is not cold at all, the clothes come out piping hot in any cycle I run it. After ruining some sweaters, I had to make the decision to just hand wash part of my clothes. THEN, after six months, the machine would not start; I called service, they told me I had not purchased the warantee. What happened to those times when the name MAYTAG was the absolute warrantee? That is the reason I bought a Maytag and not a Brand-X machine, the name behind it. I realize now that this has changed big time.
The service man came and told me I had to change the detergent to a special one. I did and I still have the same problem, the washer will not start. It is not that I have major loads  of clothes, just for one person! I am as gentle as could be but no doubt the machine has major problems. Now am shopping for a new refrigerator, and you can be sure it will not be a Whirlpool or Maytag. Not ever again!

Do not buy a Maytag Air Condensing Unit or central air unit. We brought one in 2008 and had to add freon every year since then. We had to drain the freon and had it refilled and a coil replaced trying to find a leak. We even had Stop Leak put in it. There is no leak to be found. It is the air unit itself. Do NOT purchase a Maytag cause you will get the runaround from them trying to get anything accomplished with this company.

We thought I bought a quality products when we selected maytag for our kitchen appliances...to start with the appliance we ordered were modified, after having been given delivery dates...the microwave vent is so noisy tthat I would reach the decibles of a rock concert.  We endured all that, microwave is still very noisy but it works.  My heart burn with maytag is the dishwasher died.  I can have It repaired (2 yrs old and out of warranty) for just about half of the original purchase price.  I contacted Maytag and they offered no help.   THE WORST PART IS THAT THEY WILL NOT GIVE M ANY NUMBERS ON THE FAILURE OF THE "CONTROLLER" FOR THE DISHWASHER.  aLL I GOT FROM THEM IS THAT THE MODEL IS CURRENT AND PARTS ARE Available.   Would you, the public report in this forum any service problems you have had with maytag...The repairman is not the lonely guy that the depict.   CAC

Don't buy MAYTAG! I don't care who makes it, I won't buy it again.  Before retiring I had the kitchen remodeled.  Maytag Dishwasher and microwave.  4 months later, microwave died. Luckily was able to repair myself (bought extra parts to fix the next time). Now Dishwasher control panel is dead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  WHAT KIND OF GARBAGE ARE THEY TRYING TO PAWN OFF ON US? I'm retired on a fixed income and can't afford to have this crap in my house!

I am old and cranky and would like the phone number of the President of Maytag. My compact washer has only been installed for less than two years and we have been having trouble starting the machine. The repairman said it woul cost $500 for parts to replace three things, the washer dual, control panel and door lock could because they don't know exactly what the problem is. If I bring my car to the dealer, they do a diagnostic to determine exactly what the problem is. I want a replacement washer.
