DO NOT BUY MAYTAG AND DO NOT USE A& E FACTORY SERVICE!

This is a complaint against both A&E Factory Service and Maytag (which is Whirlpool).

We purchased a microwave in April. In June the Microwave breaks. We call Whirlpool and then tell us to call their ‘preferred warranty service’ A& E. We call A& E and were told the soonest they could come out would be in 10 days. In addition, we have to be home between the hours of 8am and 5pm (not kidding about that) and if the drive called and no one answered it would be an automatic reschedule. So my husband take off of work and sits by the phone waiting.

Around 3:30 he calls A& E to see how much longer he needs to wait. They tell him we are next on the list. At 5:45pm the technician calls to tell us they would not be coming out and need to reschedule. You can imagine how happy I was to hear that. The soonest they could get us in was July 23rd. I asked to speak with the manager and after all my complaining they moved it up to the 19th. Same rules apply. Need to be at home between 8am and 5pm and you must answer the phone when they call. A& E does show on July 19th  and says he needs to order parts and would reschedule us for August 1 st .

I don’t think so!! I call A& E and get no where. They can’t do anything, they need to order parts and don’t know when they will be in. Now I call Maytag (Whirlpool) to complain regarding their ‘preferred warranty service provider’ and to see what we can do. They said they are going to put a rush on the parts, have them shipped directly to A& E and give me an extra year warranty on my microwave.

Ok, not happy, but I will settle. That was on the 19th. On the 23rd  I called Maytag to see if they had an estimated ship date of the parts. They have no record that parts were ordered (just what I wanted to hear). I speak with the supervisor and she tells me the parts are on back order and she will call me in 3-4 days to let me know one of two things. Either they will wait for the parts and repair the microwave OR they will just replace it. That day came and gone.

I called Maytag again. They tell me the parts won’t be here until August 20th and they are sending my ‘case’ to a special division to see if they can get my microwave replace. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! Here it is the 31st , no parts and still my microwave is not working. I have been without a microwave for a month now. NOT ACCEPTABLE. DO NOT BUY MAYTAG AND DO NOT USE A& E FACTORY SERVICE!!!!!!!!

My Maytag less than one year old Flat Range keeps burning out the burner switches. They spark and pop, making me a little nervous about a fire hazard. I am really disappointed because I thought it was going to be such a wonderful oven. Now I am waiting on A+E to come fix it. The warranty runs out on 11/25. They said they would be here 11/23. Last time A+E called at the end of the day and said there truck broke down and would have to reschedule. Hope they don't reschedule after my warranty runs out.

After reading all these reports I feel worried for my Whirlpool washer went
out and I was refered to A&E.  A&E set up an appointment for a Wednesday
between 1-5 PM.  The evening before the scheduled repair they called and made sure that we would have someone at home between those hours.  Repair day came and I patiently waited beginning at 1 PM.  At 4:30 still nothing so I called A&E and the very rude woman advised that they were overbooked and she would reschedule for the following week on Wednesday.  I stated that this was unacceptable and she continued to become more irate and refused to listen to what I had to say.  I ended my conversation and immediately called the people that I have the extended warranty contract and they gave me another provider.  This provider set up an appointment for Saturday 8-12.  The Technician arrived apporximately 11:40AM and looked at the control problem we were having with our washer.  After looking at it for 20 minutes he stated that he would have to order a new clock and control mechanism. Since it was a Saturday, he stated that he can't find out anything until Monday to see if the parts are available in town or they will have to order from manufacturer. My jury is still out on this new provider but I can tell you I have absolutely no confidence in the technician that came to diagnose our problem.  It seems only time will see where this will take us.  After this experience I will never get another extended warranty.

OMG!  I sat around ALL day long waiting for these jokers to come out to fix my 2 1/2 MONTH old washing machine.  Of course, we got the run-around all day about what time they were coming.  The repairman called at 3:45 and said he'd be here shortly.  He never showed up.  We called A & E, they kept telling us he's behind and is STILL coming, etc.  We called the 800 number on the washer and they kept telling us "he's still coming".  At 9:00 pm, the A & E people told my husband that he's crazy and that their guys go home at 6:00 pm.  That's when I decided to Google this company.  Now, here I am, reading a litany of complaints.  They are supposed to call first thing tomorrow morning to "reschedule".  I suppose it's going to be another 10 days before I can get an appointment?  What a nightmare!!  I won't be buying anymore Maytag/Whirlpool appliances ever again!!!!

We bought front load Maytag washer/dryer from Lowes about a year & a half ago and the washer has gotten progressively louder in the spin cycle, to the point of having to close the doors and go to another part of the house. I scheduled a repair (A&E), took 1/2 day off (appmt 1-5:00) and at 4:45 they called to say that their truck had broken down and they needed to reschedule............... Oh, really? And I should take another 1/2 day off? I don't think so, I was glad to read in another post that we don't have to use A&E, that any "MAYATG APPROVED" service company is acceptable. I'm going to try that and then, if it doesn't work I'm going to write our state consumer protection division, and if that doesn't work I'm dumping the damned thing on the Lowes parking lot.
I'm sick and tired of this crap from retailers AND manufacturers and I'm not taking it anymore - Sarah Palin just THINKS she's gone rogue.

Just about the save thing with a microwave. Installed new in late July, 2009. We used it for 3 months and it broke. We called for an authorized maintenance company who came to pick up the appliance. They've had it for 5 weeks. We called Maytag and were told that Maytag had no control over something that broke. And they had no control over parts availability because they couldn't anticipate situations like ours. 1) If you are manufacturing a product, you should have replacement parts for anything, not just for the older models and 2) You should have maintenance companies that will complete the work in a timely and professional manner.

And yes, there will be no more appliances from Maytag or Whirlpool.

I am currently having the same exact problem except with our 3 month old dryer!!!!  We've been scheduled 2 times so far between 8-5 with the A&E Factory service to repair it.  Both times they were a no show!  After the second time they told us the next available appointment would be 4 days later of course between 8-5 again.  We called the Maytag company to complain and they called another repair service to fix our dryer.  Well, that other repair service never received the workorder from Maytag so they couldn't come out.  I'm so frustrated and angry.  The most we've gotten from the Maytag people is an extension on our warranty of 3 months.  Big deal!  All I want is a working dryer!

Well , this is definitely not what I wanted to find. A complete thread about the same experiences I am having.
Take the original complaint that started this thread, ADD in 4 visits for the same issue (only this is a Maytag dishwasher) THEN add that I have had to on the Fifth service Call reschedule to next day because part didn't show (so now 2 MORE days of work in addition to the 4 above), Then add in that I was here ALL day, and called at 2 to find out why no one had called yet, to be told that they haven't gotten to me yet.
Then to call at 5:04 to be told that they had "Come to my house and tried the door and no one was home, and we left a tag" and that the tech had gone home for the day
I have been home ALL DAY!  ALL DAY.  I went outside to look for the tag.
    NO TAG.
I come back to the phone...they had hung up!
I had to start all over.
The tech "has not uploaded his route info yet so we cannot reschedule you until he does.
WELL WHEN WILL THAT BE?!  "We don't know".
So why don't you just see if there is something available tomorrow morning (Sat),
we can't you are still open in the system as being serviced...

So can't you just open a new ticket ? NO.
You can call back first thing tomorrow to see what we can do...
    ARE YOU KIDDING?
What so you can upset me another day and tell me there is no appt avail?
    ugh.

Oh did I mention the phone call took over 48 minutes?

    Great Customer Service A & E Thanks.

A& E is one of the worst service companies I have ever dealt with! They are aloof, cannot seem to fix Maytag washers and after weeks without a washer, they still cannot get it fixed!  When they order parts, you are in for a long time waiting.  I would never contract with them again!

I realize my experience with A&E is the same as everyone else--all Dave the tech from Bloomingdale, Il wanted was to send me Sears to see his friend and buy a new washer because he said my Maytag Neptune was junk and I should buy a Kenmore.  When I tried to order the part and have him return I was told I had to start over which is quite inconvenient since I have no one at home to allow access.  MAYTAG IS JUNK--unfortunately I have a refrigerator, dishwasher, washer and dryer but never again! Too bad I didn't see this site earlier.

We bought a Maytag Washer about 3 years ago. Thought that Maytag would stand up to their commercials. The service department said that the transmission is bad. How can a maine part of the washer be bad? It's not that old. Why should we have to pay to have this fixed. It will cost us over $200.00 to fix this washer. As for having extra insurance. We thought we bought the insurance. We can't find ours and they say that they can't look up that information.  Will not buy another Maytag.  They are not what they say they are. Why do they think hard working people can afford to put out more money for an replacement.

I agree that Maytag is junk.
We had a Over the Range microwave and an oven , both Maytag.
The handle on the oven broke in 2 years and the microwave quit working in 4 years with a year warranty left on it.
We called the Maytag repair man, Dale's Appliance of Hot Springs AR,  and he ordered parts which kept being back ordered for over a year. We would call him and we got no return response after he would tell us he would check on it and call us back.
After calling the BBB, he still did not respond and either did Maytag.
I will NEVER buy another Maytag.

I too bought the same gas range and my control panel went out within 2 years.  I also bought a bravos washer and now am having problems with the control panel on it.  I bought both of these at Home Depot.  Guess it's time not to buy American.

I have had 2 the first i was told not to use because it would burn my house down.
The next one lasted about 1-1/2 years so no warranty
If the only dishwasher out there was a maytag i would get a hose.

Too true. My wife was a Home Depot sales person and she was regularly conned by management into believing that "now we're selling decent products." She even bought a Maytag refrigerator, dishwasher, and washing machine from the store and all three products would have to be improved to be worthless. The refrigerator's magnetic seals deteriorated in two years, the dishwasher has never washed dishes competently, and the brand new washing machine was down for the count after a year. I would never buy Maytag again and anything more technological than 2x4's is beyond Home Depot's ability to purchase competently.
