DO NOT BUY MAYTAG AND DO NOT USE A& E FACTORY SERVICE!

This is a complaint against both A&E Factory Service and Maytag (which is Whirlpool).

We purchased a microwave in April. In June the Microwave breaks. We call Whirlpool and then tell us to call their ‘preferred warranty service’ A& E. We call A& E and were told the soonest they could come out would be in 10 days. In addition, we have to be home between the hours of 8am and 5pm (not kidding about that) and if the drive called and no one answered it would be an automatic reschedule. So my husband take off of work and sits by the phone waiting.

Around 3:30 he calls A& E to see how much longer he needs to wait. They tell him we are next on the list. At 5:45pm the technician calls to tell us they would not be coming out and need to reschedule. You can imagine how happy I was to hear that. The soonest they could get us in was July 23rd. I asked to speak with the manager and after all my complaining they moved it up to the 19th. Same rules apply. Need to be at home between 8am and 5pm and you must answer the phone when they call. A& E does show on July 19th  and says he needs to order parts and would reschedule us for August 1 st .

I don’t think so!! I call A& E and get no where. They can’t do anything, they need to order parts and don’t know when they will be in. Now I call Maytag (Whirlpool) to complain regarding their ‘preferred warranty service provider’ and to see what we can do. They said they are going to put a rush on the parts, have them shipped directly to A& E and give me an extra year warranty on my microwave.

Ok, not happy, but I will settle. That was on the 19th. On the 23rd  I called Maytag to see if they had an estimated ship date of the parts. They have no record that parts were ordered (just what I wanted to hear). I speak with the supervisor and she tells me the parts are on back order and she will call me in 3-4 days to let me know one of two things. Either they will wait for the parts and repair the microwave OR they will just replace it. That day came and gone.

I called Maytag again. They tell me the parts won’t be here until August 20th and they are sending my ‘case’ to a special division to see if they can get my microwave replace. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! Here it is the 31st , no parts and still my microwave is not working. I have been without a microwave for a month now. NOT ACCEPTABLE. DO NOT BUY MAYTAG AND DO NOT USE A& E FACTORY SERVICE!!!!!!!!

My husband and I purchased a Maytag 3000 series front load washer and dryer in November 2009. From that point and current I really dislike the product and would not purchase it again. It is suppose to be water efficient but between having to clean the washer every 5 washes with the tide tablets to clean the residue off and having to wash my small loads of laundry over and over so that they smell clean. I probably use the same amount as if I were just using a traditional washer. I also have the problem with the mold on the interior of the washer where the plastic rubber is located. I've tried removing it as well but have not had any luck. I leave the door of the washer open through the day to air out the smell as well as dry out after a wash to prevent from more mold occurring but to me this product should not have to take this much maintenance for being so expensive. I've called and complained but without a warranty or a recall nothing has been done. Through other complaints I've seen on the internet regarding this product, I know I'm not a lone.  I recommend anyone who is looking to purchase a new washer dryer front loader to not buy Whirlpool/Maytag. You are better off getting something else.

Hi.  My name is Melanie and I am a representative of Maytag. We are sorry you are unhappy with the design of your washer. Due to the changes set by the Department of Energy, all appliances that use water must limit how much water goes into the washer.  We recommend using about 1/2 the amount of detergent you are currently using, and try using an extra rinse to remove excess detergent from resettling on your clothing. That should help to limit how often you will need to clean your washer.  If you have other concerns we can address, please provide your name, the site you were contacted on (Complaintwire), your user ID name (strask78), your phone number, your address, the full model and serial number, and email the requested information to Maytag.Digital@maytag.com.  We would be happy to review your concerns further.
      Sincerely, Melanie.

Diddo for me and wish I read this 2 weeks ago!
Neptune washer had the imfamous outer tub bearing failing, noisy but working.  I diagonosed and priced parts of 740.00 NO LABOR. I emailed maytay and explained how loyal I was all my appliances were maytag. They told me would offer me a warranty to repair for 299.00. I explained I was just laid off and was assured I could wait till monday to decide. I decided 300.00 was better than now washer if it fails and called back and paid. NO contract till the day they sent the tech from A & E out and the tech  took the front of the washer off and told me it was the outer tub bearing, Daa. he went to his vehicle and laptop and returned to tell me it was too expensive to repair and put the washer front back on then as if he forgot something took it back off and had his arm way toward the back.then reinstalled the front again! Waiting and waiting as he told me whirlpool will be in touch within 3 days . 5 days come and went and the first time I used the washer it was making very different sounds.I checked back 20 min later and the whole house was full of smoke!I called Whirlpool and they denied all and told me good news we will issue a 174.00 Check. Seriously?I live alone and this washes gets very little use . they stole 299.00 for a warranty and a few days later offer me 174.00.And NOW the best part. I slide the washer out take the back off and the belt is severed and you could see where it was on the shaft not on the pully grove! This tech reached under the machine from the front and repositioned the pelt on the motor shaft where  it was a bit too small and smoked itself leaving rubber dust and a broken expensive belt! I am Livid to say the least! Anyone have any suggestions? Want to buy electronic control bord, Pump main motor? contact me smoothboarr@aol.com

I wish I would of posted here a year ago.  Maytag and Whirpool merged a couple of years ago and the merger has not gone well and it has led to the quality of product and service issues that you are seeing today.   They completely closed down the Maytag engineering facilities in Iowa and hence these issues.  I bought a Maytag washer in May of 2010 the bearing went out on it 3 times in the first year.  I got a replacement washer in October 2011 (Lemon Law type of deal) and now the new one went bad A&E came out to fix it and they did not know how to fix it and it now sits in pieces on my laundry room floor.   The best advice I can give is to not waste your time with Whirlpool and to file a small claims lawsuit to get your money back and a complaint with your state attorney general.  NEVER buy Maytag or Whirpool and when people sit around and wonder why no one buys american...this is why.  The A&E guy at my house even said not to buy Maytag.  He bought a Samsung...

I have a service contract with Maytag extended service. I had a problem with my washer and called on a Thursday. I was scheduled an appointment with A+E  on Monday between 8 and 12. After waiting until 12 I called A + E and was told the technician was running late and would be there between 1 and 5. AT 4:30 they called and said they had to reschedule.  Since I was rescheduled I expected to be first on the list...NOPE...they would be there between 12 and 5 on Tuesday. I called Maytag and complained and they put me on hold and called A+E. They told me the technician would call me to let me know what time he would be there. At 3 I called A+E and was told I was next on the technician's route. At 4:30 they called and had to reschedule for Wednesday. Again I called Maytag and they put me on hold and of course apologized. They called A+E and assured me the technician would be there first thing in the morning. At 10 on Wenesday I called and was told they would be there between 12 and 5. I called Maytag, was put on hold  while they called A+E, then was told that they would be there between 4 and 5 and the tech would call me. At 4:30 the tech called and said he was on his way. He arrived 4:45 spent 15 minutes ordering parts. Told me they would be delivered to my house and scheduled me for Saturday (a week and a half later) at 8 in the morning because the job would take about 2 hours. The parts were delivered to my  house and I had 3 large boxes sitting in my living room. I called A+E on Thursday and and again on Friday. I was told the tech would be at my house between 8 and 12.. On Saturday I called Maytag at 10 and told them noone had showed. They put me on hold  and called A+E. They told me the tech would be there around 12:30...This happened at 12:30 2:30 and 4:00. FIVE calls in all to Maytag. at 5 noone showed and I received no call. I called Maytag and they contacted A+E. I was told they had tried to get in touch with me but couldn't..LIES ALL LIES,we were in the house all day. Anyway I am now scheduled for 2:30 next Tuesday....They just don't care, and there is nothing you can do about it. I lost 4 days and am working on my 5th because of this company. I now see online they have many complaints, but MAYTAG does not support the consumer. Also, in additon to our time and agravation, We had to pay to have our wash done and travel to the laundermat, BUT Maytag NEVER has offered anything in return. I will never do business with Maytag again, and in the future if I buy a warranty I will ask who the service provider is...BEWARE of A+E...BTW, I was told that all A+E phone representatives operate out of there homes and just   put you on hold when they need information. Then they call, as you would from your home phone...Shady outfit.

Maytag is the absolute worst company. Never buy their product if you care about how you spend your money.  I am at my third repair with the product. Company lies to get out of covering their product until you just wear out of trying to get them.  I spoke with Kisha today ID # 7844. She told me she was the highest person in the company I could talk to and she was sorry that I was disatified with the repair issues I have been having but there was nothing that could be done.  I could either continue to pay to repair or I could buy a new one, But Maytag had no intention of doing anything for the product of their's that I bought.  I, like many others believed in the company and believed their commercials about low repair, lonely repairman.  Don't be suckerpunshed by them.  It is false promotion.  Bottom line DO NOT BUY MAYTAG, you will waste your hard earned money and regret it everyday.

I had a similar situation.  I had a "Maytag" service agreement on my dryer.  After A&E did not show up twice as scheduled Maytag sent Diamond Repair who said I needed a $500 control panel and Maytag said I would have to settle for a one time replacement check for $315.  I thought that was unfair, but in addition they would not refund the additional 2 year service contract I have on the dryer.  The price on the three year contract  runs until 9/19/2014 and cost $149.  Finally the Sears service man, whom A&E said they did not call, showed up at the house last Tuesday and charged my daughter, who knew nothing about the situation, $76 for a service call on the dryer.  I would caution against buying Maytag or their contract.

We purchased a Maytag  french-door refrigerator 3 years ago.  It was sold as an Energy Star product. All warranties have expired.  Last week a part of the door seal fell onto the floor.  I examined the rest of the seals and a large portion of them have turned brittle. I contacted Maytag and they said it was not their problem.  They said I must have used chemicals on the doors that ruined the seals.  I have used only dish soap and water.  Home Depot contacted Maytag on our behalf and got the same answer.

The new seals and instillation will cost us about $500, and their is no guarantee the new seals will perform any better.

I am notifying EPA that Maytag's Energy Star rating should be reexamined.

We will never buy another Maytag/Whirlpool product again.

I purchased a maytag microwave in june of 2010. This summer I was baking a sweet potato and it started smoking,it worked up until a week ago. I believe it is a magnatron thatis ruined. It is only two years old. I believe the magnatron is guaranteed for ten years, however when I called maytag the lady told me it wasnot and to call A&E for service. It would cost close to three hundred to fix it. I went to a repair shop today and I am going to take a copy of the guarantee that I just printed. The maytag people do not care about the consumer and apparently the lady I spoke to didnot know about the guarantee. I will never purchase another maytag anything again, nobody really cares about the customer. It could have started a fire this summer when it smoked. It is defective and they should give me a new one and I should not have to pay for labor or anything.

Brand new Maytag Washer Model No. MVWC200XW is shredding my laundry.  Maytag can't/won't fix the problem.  A&E was here today, and the repair guy actually LAUGHED about it and thought it was funny.  I had a 10 day wait for the first repair guy and then a 10 day wait for parts. Today this bozo to comes to my home today and laughs about it, tells me the parts the first guy ordered are wrong, there are no parts available that will fix the problem, and Ha, Ha, Ha, he doesn't work for Maytag anyway. I'm out the $500.00 I paid for this washing machine and I would estimate another $500-$1000 in shredded laundry. MAYTAG and A&E ARE EVIL. They are selling bad washing machines that damage laundry and then laughing about it in your face. When I call the 800 number they now act confused and say they can't find my warranty information. I'm having chest pains from the stress.

I feel for you because they do not care. My washer problem had begin to make me feel the same as you do. Then I had people telling me I was over recting. No, I was reacting to having been used by Maytag.

MAYTAG DRYER MEDB200VQO.  PULLEY COMES OFF THE FAN PROPELLER SHAFT.  THERE IS NO LOCKING NUT OR SET SCREW TO HOLD IT ON.  I REPLACED IT, BUT IT WILL PROBABLY COME OFF AGAIN.  CALLED MAYTAG FOR ADVICE ON THE PROBLEM.  NO DO IT YOURSELF ADVICE WAS THEIR RESPONSE. BOUGHT THE DRYER FROM HOME DEPOT AND THERE WAS NO HELP THERE EITHER.  ONE SHOULD READ THESE REVIEWS BEFORE ANY PURCHASE AND KEEP YOUR OLD APPLIANCES RUNNING.  THEY WILL LAST LONGER THAN THE NEW ONES.

Bought a Maytag gas range because of a video we saw that showed how the oven cleans the whole oven cavity, side walls, back walls as well as the bottom of the oven. We get it in the house and right off the bat the oven does not work. We have a repair man who is local and does warranty work for Maytag come in and he adjusted the oven igniter. No problem easy fix. Then we try the oven for an evening meal and everything going good. A few spills here and there. So we put it through the much bragged about Aqual Lift cleaning process. Well the bottom of the stove cleaned up nicely, but the side walls and the very back wall are not cleaning as advertised. We have the repair man come in and he puts it through the process. But he does not wait to see if it works. He says to me,"It will work but if it doesn't give me a call and I will come back and see what I can do"Well the cleaning process doesn't work. So we call Maytag and after going back and forth with whoever I was talking to they finally admit that it only cleans the bottom of the stove not the walls. Even though they tout how it cleans the whole oven walls and all. I was told they have a cleaning product that works well with this particular oven. So now I have an oven that I have get down on my arthritic knees to clean with some chemical solvent, that I have to buy whenever I try to clean my oven.
Well needless to say, as Dan Akyroid said, "I am on a mission form God" I am going to tell all who will listen not to buy Maytag or Whirlpool. When you get burned you stay away from the heat. In this case it is Maytag and Whirlpool.
